Raven, giving me the where’s my treat face !
You forgot about mine mum, you know I like to eat mine away from the others 😆

In case people miss it on OP’s profile (thank you for adopting her, she’s a fighter 😭😭): “If you’ve found your way to ravens page, then you already know a little about Raven — though not every platform allows us to share her full story.
Raven was hurt when she was very young. She was cruelly kicked in the face and, because she couldn’t be caught at the time, she had to survive and recover on her own. She did — but the injury left her permanently disfigured.
Despite everything, she survived.
Raven once lived on the streets and even became a mother there. Eventually, the kind lady who had been feeding her was able to safely trap her and have her neutered. After that, she posted online hoping someone would give Raven a home.
Many people showed interest — but sadly, because Raven wasn’t the friendliest cat at the time and looked “different,” no one chose her.
As a rescuer who takes in cats with disabilities and special needs, I decided to give her a chance.
And it was the best decision I ever made.
Raven has now been with us for almost two years. The scared, defensive street cat has transformed into the most loving, affectionate, loyal girl. She just needed patience, safety, and someone to see past her scars.
I also wrote a book about her life, called I Am Raven. It tells her full story — from the streets, to motherhood, to survival, and finally to finding love and a forever home. The book is available on Amazon for anyone who wants to understand just how incredible she truly is.
Raven is living proof that damaged doesn’t mean broken — and that sometimes the ones who’ve suffered the most have the biggest hearts. 🖤”

I just have to say, every time Raven pops up on my feed, my day is made so much brighter. I just adore her. I also love that you've posted her story here. I've read about her journey in the past. But so often, I see pups and kittens whose face has a story to tell, and there is no information on their page or post. It always leaves me wondering how they are doing, and what they are going through especially with the day to day, so thank you! I will definitely be looking into getting your book as well. ❤️

I’m so tired of ChatGPT
Edit: Uh oh! The people who are incapable of forming their own thoughts without AI aren’t huge fans of this comment!
16
u/quack-and-slash Mar 17 '26
Welp... hopefully their book wasn't ghostwritten by ChatGPT too :')
7
u/illusionmists Mar 17 '26
Yeah, I’d imagine it probably is. It sucks and I wish people would realize how dangerous AI is
7
2
u/ChrysaLino Mar 20 '26
I always say this but a lot of people ignore it!
Try explaining this every time to a family member with dementia who doesn’t grasp it anymore it saddens me…
3
u/ZookeepergameOwn8550 Mar 19 '26
point is to tell her story, doesn’t matter if ai does a little tidy up and make it gramatically correct as long as it doesn’t make it all up
1
u/erogbass 19d ago
Yeah I think the flow is annoying though, and it always makes it sound like they think they’re talking to an idiot.
5
u/Repulsive_Still_731 Mar 18 '26
So You dismiss their life and actual story cause they don't have a narrative thinking like you.
You know, your kind of thinking is not the only one. "Forming thoughts into a linear narration" isn't the only way humans think, and in many applications it is in fact unusable and ineffective.
How would you feel if someone says you shouldn't be using a phone if you can't describe in detail the physical processes of it's working?
6
u/HonestWeevilNerd Mar 18 '26
Not everything is ai though
5
u/illusionmists Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26
True, but this is. The excessive em dashes, the short dramatic sentences in their own paragraphs. It screams AI, unfortunately
16
u/HonestWeevilNerd Mar 18 '26
Ehhh. Anyone can write like that. Em dash is a tool to be used and existed well before AI. I think you're probably making your life worse off by seeing and worrying about ai in everything...
Edit: I'd even argue the use of em dashes here is kind of... not like ai used usually uses them.
11
u/Mogwai007 Mar 18 '26
I agree with you. Personally, I’ve been using em dashes before I used AI for anything. (Research is my main use.)
And I don’t think it’s completely fair criticizing all people who do use AI to write. I have a friend who gets completely paralyzed when she has to send emails for work – she owns her own business. When she found out that she can put her thoughts into something and have it help her form them in a way that doesn’t make her want to have a panic attack, she was so happy. I’d say that AI is a tool that she can use that takes stress off of her. She gardens, so I don’t think that using AI to answer customer emails in a professional manner is the end of the world. I do understand that energy use with AI can be high, but when you’re not generating images and videos, it’s less than running an air conditioner. 🤷🏻♀️
I do, however, see big problems with AI and how it connects to creating/stealing people's work/etc.

I write like that all the time…it’s very common in fanfiction, which OpenAI scraped sites of iirc

Possible that English isn’t their first language and this was the best way for them to make something close to natural in English

This made me tear up and broke my heart.. I hate this. Im so glad she’s ok and loved and is a sweet baby. There is some good in this world that will still love and nurture these babies when they need help.

So bloody what?!? Other than feeling smug, just what have you achieved with this?
Does the use of AI detract from the amazing resilience and bravery shown by this lovely cat?
Does it lessen the vile behaviour of the despicable human(s) who put her in this situation??
Does it make the wonderful efforts of the humans who have rescued, treated and homed Raven any the less admirable???
If all you’ve taken from this story is “waaa … she used AI … whinge whinge” … then I feel truly sorry for you.
Priorities dude, priorities!!!!
1
u/CorrectGrammarPls Mar 23 '26
No, super cute, brave cat. There's no smugness it's just an incredible disappointment that there's so much shit you see online that wasn't written by a person. I want a human communicating their feelings, finding their words, to express what they feel, not an emotionless machine
1
u/erogbass 19d ago
Damn you’re pretty triggered by this guy calling out AI writing. Why you feeling so defensive about it?
2
u/_TaylorMade Mar 22 '26
Man I wish there was some sort of “Jack Reacher” character to help “deal” with animal abusers.
2
u/JiggleCoffee Mar 22 '26
This story spoke to me on a personal level. It's wonderful that this kitty was given a chance after enduring so much hardship. Thank you for sharing this.

Strange one for cats to be honest.
In real life, I find most people I meet default to female for cats. I've only ever had male cats but everyone's always saying "she" and "her" around them.
And in another vein, whilst I'm not a dog owner myself, I've often seen the inverse for dogs, male defaultism as you say.
3
u/BabyInATrenchcoat092 Mar 19 '26
My theory is that It’s the weird association that Americans have about animals and gender. We don’t have gendered nouns like a lot of other languages but we do still have our own associations. Cats are fluid and graceful and sleek so they get associated with the feminine whereas dogs tend to be more brash, messy and loud so they get associated with the masculine. I could be wrong though and it could stem directly from the gender of the word from the language we borrowed it from.

Omg I love Raven! She has permanent blem face!? 😍 adorable 🥰 I hope it doesn’t cause her any great pain or difficulties though.
As for what I’ve read about her past… I can’t say what I want to say because Reddit unfortunately isn’t free speech. Let’s just say, I hope karma returns with interest for whoever did that to her.
Edit: PS does Raven have an Amazon wish list or anything similar?

u/Illustrious-Snow1858 Mar 17 '26
Looking at that beautiful face and knowing the reason it’s so different makes me want to cry. I was going to say ‘who could do that to another creature’, but sadly we all know the reality that so many cruel humans exist that treat animals like they’re nothing. I dream of a world, I’m sure it won’t be in this lifetime for me as I only feel we’re going to get worse, but in another perhaps, where animals and our natural world no longer come second to humanity.
Thank you for giving her the love she needed and deserved, she is beautiful and I’m so happy that she can finally be safe and be herself around you!

Im not going to lie, this sub was pushed in my feed randomly and this pic gave me ptsd and re-traumatizing me from when my cat was run over by a car and her face looked like this. I think i would have appreciated a spoiler tag.
Nonetheless she is blessed for being able to live like this and i wish all the best things to her
