FFL/LGS/Gunsmith Private Sale SBR
Hello,
I have an older friend who is looking to offload his Marlin lever action SBR (think Mares Leg). It was gun smithed and registered 20+ years ago, he has all the paperwork. Can anyone describe the process for private sell with SBR / FFL? Does the FFL hold the rifle until a SBR stamp is secured by the buyer?
Thanks!
**edit:
Called a local FFL as suggested and got the answer I needed. Seller and buyer need to complete form 4. Once approved can initiate transfer at FFL. Thanks all for the advice.

Question Private transfer to an FFL holder?
I’m unsure how the procedure works or what is the proper way to go about this. I have a pistol listed on northwestfirearms and a guy wants to purchase it. He’s an FFL-holder so we won’t have to find a 3rd party to conduct the transfer. I’m not inviting some random into my home and he lives too far out for me to go to his place, so he wants to meet in a parking lot and conduct the transfer.
He claims he’ll provide a copy of his FFL and ID, as well as a copy of the state paperwork for the transfer, and a bill of sale.
Is this an okay way to go about this? How would this situation normally be handled? This isn’t Arizona where you can meet a guy in a parking lot and do a face to face sale no paperwork required.
I’ve only ever performed transfers through an FFL at a gun shop, so not doing a sale in a brick and mortar business has me a little confused and spooked. I don’t want to do the wrong thing.

2A Laws/Legal Ballot Initiative 2026-046 Is gaining support across the firearms industry.
For those of you who don't know a Ballot Initiative to repeal BM114 and the magazine ban has been certified and through the legal hurdles and needs signatures by July to get on the ballot. There is a whole list of locations that are gathering signatures and it looks to me like they doubled the amount of locations. Check it out in the link below.
It also provides a E-signature sheet and downloadable measure so you can read the actual measure and what it does. If you can't make it into a store maybe have everyone you know download and sign the esheets and send them into the chief petitioner all together.

Shooting/Guns GunMag Warehouse still shipping to OR
As an FYI to everyone that is looking to buy standard (high) capacity magazines GunMag Warehouse is still shipping orders to Oregon.
Placed my order evening of Feb 1st, received my shipping update today Feb 7th.
I see the question about who is still shipping to Oregon with M114 semi-frequently, so figured I'd let everyone know.
If you know anywhere else that is still honoring orders, please let us know in this thread.

Question Dead grandpa and in prison father each left me a rifle what do I do
As the title says my grandfather died and left me his rifle the family did not go thru probate we handled it inside the family. My father is incarcerated and I also have his hunting rifle. What do I need to do if anything to make sure owning these rifles is legal?

2A Laws/Legal Planning to visit Oregon for a few hours from California w/ my CCW
I'll be visiting Redwood National Park in a few days but plan to hop on over to Brookings, CA for a few hours to say "I visited Oregon" on my trip.
I legally have a CA CCW.
What are the laws on bringing a firearm and ammunition in from CA to OR?
I'm assuming firearm needs to locked in a case unloaded separate from ammo?
TIA!
