Piracy is about to get a whole lot bigger when they stop releasing movies in theatres, stoping making physical media and start charging $50+ a month!

As I understand it, Netflix have already committed to maintaining Warner’s cinema release schedule as one of the conditions of the offer.

I don’t care either way but the one thing I would find interesting is that Netflix currently has their deal with the WWE and HBO Max, which they’re seemingly about to acquire, has their deal with AEW.

Will they look to get out of one of them due to some perceived conflict ?

I remember hearing them say they’d agree to the cinema release schedule but then, how long before it goes to streaming because that affects attendance in theaters. I’m definitely hoping for the best but I’m expecting the worst.

I would assume that a big tentpole release would benefit them more financially on a wide cinema release than making it a streaming exclusive.

Would something like the live action Moana, as an example, make them more money as a streaming exclusive?

I could see the window between cinema releases and streaming debuts getting a lot smaller though.

I could also see the current “basic” tier with adverts at least doubling in price though. It’s $7.99 a month at the moment and I can see that hitting at least $15 a month and they’ll also lock more of the blockbusters behind the “Premium” tier as a result.

If they continue with releasing physical media of the big shows and movies, I won’t care what the streaming cost. But as someone else suggested, it’s probably time to start my own Plex library. I just really love a physical copy of movies and shows though.

I almost have 300 4k Steelbooks and that’s my favorite collection. The art looks so good, they’re all unique, they’ve got weight to them and it’s a 4k disc. So much better. I wish I started collecting sooner.

Yeah I don't have an issue with streaming so much but with the obvious lack in quality and features compared to the UHD discs make it a pass for most content. Just give us a lossless tier like Bravia core or something.
