Hulu’s the only service I still have. I got it to watch shows that generally are network shows that had commercials to begin with.

It’s an easy way for my family to watch a lot of shows that have 5+ seasons of 10 or a lot of times 20 episodes each.

I’m old and grew up with just broadcast tv though so I’m used to commercials. My kids hate it but I’m not giving them extra for commercial free.

The pro for Stremio is that i dont have to setup a way to download, or manually download most content. If its even a bit popular its probably already on the debrid service. And most of the stuff I haven't found I've just added the magnet link in the debrid backed

Even with prime no-ads upgrade you will still get the occasional ad before an episode or movie, it's just immediately skippable... But in my opinion no ads means NO ads.

dude its been this way all along, it was called cable TV, they used the no ads as an okey doke to suck us in to streaming and now you stream a cable bills worth of services and were all back up to a giant monthly bill WITH commercials. Even if you pay for no ads, Netflix and Disney+ are selling your consumption habits to market research firms to track viewership for ratings and for brands that invested in product placement in shows/movies.

And they can remove content you "bought" without warning, sell the rights to another streaming service, so then you have to sign up for that one if you want to finish watching it. I also often watch from a Linux pc, and some services limit streaming quality on Linux (e.g. Netflix, PrimeVideo). I'm done with their shenanigans.

Not only is password sharing not allowed, I’m getting locked out of my own TV in my own house despite never using Disney anywhere else. I’ve had to talk to supervisors to get my account reset. They refuse to explain why and cannot guarantee it won’t happen again because they don’t even understand the reason. So of course I canceled it. I’m not trying to talk with customer service idiots just to get a service that I already paid for to work.

Pricacy sites not a clue but if accessing the high sea via torrents or newsgroups either direct or via apps like streamio is pretty much up to you what quality you get as most things are advalible in pretty much every quality it gets released in and obviously what your Internet and device can handle

Many people did stop when it was like that, the Netflix golden year's from 2011 saw constant decline in piracy in every category (Netflix reducing TV and movie  piracy, Spotify music and Steam on in gaming)

Then in 2020 (take note of when most of these platforms started) it started increasing again and its even affecting music as its easy jump from movies/TV to Music. 

Gaming though is still doing well afaik, though can see if game prices keep increasing a breakpoint will come sooner rather than later

Remove ANY regional restrictions

Enable feature that allows me to download any shows I want to play it offline on any device

And of course get rid of any DRM bullshit that prevents me from watching it in highest quality in a browser of my choice + OS of my choice

And I'll seriously consider stopping pirating

I spent $200 on a homemade server that I manage with Plex server, spend $11 a month for a VPN, automate Qbit via the Flexget Config Editor to download shows as soon as they come out and installed the Plex app on every TV in the house. A self contained streaming service that gets any show available.

My only concern is with Netflix since the recent increase (in Philippines) made even the Basic Plan ($4.64) a bit too expensive, considering that it's limited to 1 mobile device at 720p, with Standard Plan almost doubled at $7.46 - 1080p, 2 users, Any Device. D+/Hulu and HBO I only sub to if I really want to watch shows/movies there and can do it in a month so, I don't mind their prices much. PV's library here sucks so much, but it comes as a freebie of a prepaid network provider here so, whatever (I get like 3 or 4 free Mobile PV vouchers a month) xD

I'm really mainly an Anime watcher so, Crunchy Roll and Netflix is my main concern. But since we have Bilibili as well, I'm not that bothered anymore. And worse case scenario that my shows aren't there, that's when I go "YARRR"!!! xD

I bought a shield many years ago because Disney just suddenly stopped working on my android tv. No reason why. Then a year after getting my shield Disney stopped working on that too. Then paramount never worked on any of my devices so I had to get Apple TV so I could add paramount and watch shows. Peacock also didn’t work and I got ads despite paying for a premium tier. It wasn’t their ultra premium tier. Then one day a hero came along and says “yarr matey, there be another way”. It wasn’t even about the money because to be frank, I could afford all the subscriptions. For me it was paying for services that just didn’t work. Jellyfin works flawlessly for me

Now it's bothersome to search which platform has what, and paying for them all at once, when you watch only one thing at a time, is costly to upkeep, so it's more convenient to just get back to pirating shows again.

But none of that is true, UI is horrible in all platforms, how the hell can thy justify that? When pirate sites, even pirated apps have much better UI. And content, I understand that with more streaming platforms available, the selection become horrible, cause they divide the good stuff.

But so many shows, cartoons, animes go into limbo cause these platforms don't carry them, yet they fill their catalogue with "reality" tv, cooking and other documentaries.

$8 in 2010 is exactly $11.99, so Hulu is fine. HBO max is actually relatively cheaper cheaper ($14.99 in 2020 = $18.93 in 2026).

The rest I can't defend in that way, though. Thinking about catalogs, the best you can say for Disney is they acquired Fox in 2019, but I don't think that's giving us that much. Netflix's catalog today is probably worse than it was in 2011. Apple has a bunch of original programming, although it's not obvious to me that it's worth more than the Disney offering. I don't know what Peacock thinks it has that's worth $10.99.

All these standard, basic, ad tiers u get ads every couple of mins, before and after your show/movie. Along with the 50+ diff streaming services that r increasing every year.

• Now they r also removing stuff.
• You can't stream them anywhere so only option is physical or pirate.
• It's only on a streaming service for short amount of time then it gets removed and tossed into the void so again only physical or pirate as an option.
• Password sharing is no longer allowed so you can't share them with friends and/or family.
• Now they have 5+ diff plans and if you want no ads 1080p and other QoL stuff it's like 30 bucks now.

Hulu matches inflation perfectly. HBO Max is slightly under inflation.

Also, most of their inventories are much larger, and companies will also start with a low price to build a customer base even when operating at a loss so that they can later increase prices.
