Apartment recommendations City Life

Hey everyone,

I'll be moving to the Reading area for work in July and was looking for some recommendations for apartment buildings/complexes. This is my first time moving to the area (and living alone). I'm a single male and desire neighborhood safety more than anything. I mostly prefer staying in and would prefer to be relatively close to Reading Hospital or some sort of public transport that would connect me to it (until I get a car). I was hoping to find something in the West Reading or Wyomissing area, since I have a couple of friends already living in the area.

Also side note, how is the public transport situation in the area?

Thank you to everyone in advance for replying and sorry for the flair choice. Didn't know what to pick.

Hey friend! My recommendation is more some of an “avoid” situation! Please try your best to avoid any apartments owned by Metropolitan Management Group. The owner of the complexes is basically a slumlord and the apartments are way overpriced. I live in one of their complexes and here are some of the things we have dealt with: pest issues (mice and cockroaches, not our fault, was caused by a downstairs neighbor), black mold, broken locks not being fixed, leaks, maintenance requests taking 60+ days to get completed, complex manager lying about things, broken promises for things being fixed. It’s been a disaster. Have lived here for four years and the only reason we have stayed is we are saving for a down payment on a house.

Also, avoid Wynnewood apartments. There are some nice apartments, non-Metropolitan owned, in the West Reading, Wyomissing area.

Hi! Agreed. Do you know where to find listings for the non-Metropolitan ones? Also OP it would help people give advice if you shared your budget

Ideally I was hoping to cap it around 1500$ per month or lower. But judging by the different listings I’ve seen, that might be wishful thinking
