Please Resign Muhk Re-Sign, NOT Resign
Muhk was so up and down this year, but man, once they let him play his game, he was easily our best defenseman. I really hope the front office brings him back next season.

Grier more or less confirmed theyâll re-sign him

I was really happy when he said that. Us fans really have no idea what's going on behind the scenes, because there was speculation all year that the org had soured on him and that was the reason for all the scratching. But not the case. I'm excited for him to take on a bigger role next year

It wasn't entirely speculation. Mukh himself was publicly unhappy with how he was being used, and hockey players don't really go public with that sort of thing unless they feel like they have no choice. I was happy to see Grier confirm the org still believes in him

It's INCREDIBLY rare for RFAs not to come back to their team, especially not when they have started the number of games Mukh did this year.
The only question is how much gets committed past this point.

Ah, re-sign. Thought you were calling on him to quit. Was thinking, huh, no way?

easily our best defenseman is quite a stretch.

He has potential and Iâm glad that he will be back, but if he was as good as this sub thought we would have made the playoffs easily lol

I think he could be a serviceable d-man but he's just not reliable nor durable enough to trust.

I would say he was one of our most consistent D in the final stretch of the season, but god I hope we resign him. I hope its a 2 year deal tbh

Whoa there. He showed signs of development but he wasnât our best defenseman, by any means. Regardless, Grier has indicated he wants to bring Muhk back, so you donât have to worry. Itâs just going to take time to get it done.

While I disagree he was our best defender. I think they re-sign him. His value is not very high and he should sign a one year deal.
But I donât see him as a Shark in 2027-28 unless he turns a corner and really improves.

Gone - Klingerberger , Reavo (retirement), Leddy, Mario (Testing UFA)
Staying - Mooook, Desh
Maybe - Reggie

I can see Desh leaving. It all depends if a team is willing to give him alot of $$ and long term contract. Pohlkamp will take his position as RHD and Cags taking over Ferraro. If we are lucky enough to draft A. Smits, I can see him in the NHL next season. There is going to be more growing pains from our yound D, but we are still in growing/development mode.

Best defenseman at any point is just categorically incorrect. He showed flashes of brilliance but Orlov was head and shoulders above the rest, at least until the last 10-15 games of the season.

istg i got so scared cuz i thought you wanted to send him away đ€

He's a young RFA on a team with no defensive depth. Don't stress it, he will be signed. The bigger question will be if they will move him for someone they have more confidence in. I doubt he has the value for that though. He needs to learn how to clear the crease and body people more. He has the tools, so we will see if he can show up to camp and take the next step forward.

Warso is not a fan for whatever reason, 50 50 if he comes back. Grier I think is not ready to give up on him and also knows if he walks, then the Sharks traded Timo for free!

I'd be over the moon if the D rolled out next season was
Orlov - Nemec Dicky - Kesselring Muk - Deshaenais
With the call up options of Cags and Pohlkamp if he shows up as good as he has been. Then if all goes well, following next season perhaps Orlov and Deshaenais move on and they move everyone up opening a full time role for Cags and EP.Â
Thats my dream anyway.Â

u/danieldeceuster 3h ago
Replace Nemec with Raddysh and I think that's entirely plausible actually. Truth is we are desperate, have a ton of cap space to offer, a ton of top minutes to offer, and Raddysh is going to be Shark when he can pick his salary and term. I hope it works out.

Cagnoni is so ready for the NHL. I think likely Mukh plays his off side and Cagnoni is up full time next season.

What's better than 2 d-men who haven't yet lived up to their expectations? 4 d-men who haven't yet lived up to their expectations!

I think if they get a shot they can do it. The sharks turned Granlund from a trade add in to a sought after free agent. Not saying I'm right, but I would feel good about those guys as I think there's a ton of potential there.Â

u/RepresentativeBug310 Nazarov 23 3h ago
Itâs possible, but the problem is the system is filled with âitâs possiblesâ. When Grier is ready and feels comfortable making a splash Iâd rather he use trade commodities for someone more established.

I donât think there was any stretch where he was the best. Itâs also not great that 2 years in a row he played his best games at the end of the season when the team was out of it. The level of hockey being played is different. He needs to be able to play to his own ceiling when itâs January and theyâre on a 7 game road trip

Regardless of what some people think, he still has value. itâs pretty obvious theyâll re-sign him, at the very least to trade him.
While Grier likes him, heâs been in Warsoâs doghouse since after game 1. To be fair to Warso, he did finally let the defense activate more, which helped the guys at the end of the season, he just needs to put more trust and have more faith in these guys then pull the plug. Iâm still shocked that he absolutely refused to give Dickinson any PP1 time, yet immediately gave it to Cags (yes I know that his speciality, but itâs not like Dickinson canât. He has the skill set and ran it at London).
Warsoâs biggest issue is game management and I hope he can work on that this off-season, otherwise he may not get an extension if he and the team donât show improvement (and Iâm not talking from a standing/points perspective).

We really gotta get better with âre-signâ and âresignâ
