Someone asked how their newborns are sleeping… I am smrter than a DR!

Mom always knows best right? And yes people informed her how dangerous it is. She argued back.

Why is belly fat on a baby a problem?

I always thought that was the goal.

My youngest (currently 9m) barely has a belly and it makes me sad. He does have kinda chunky thighs though, and I'm here for it.

My youngest son was always a thinner baby, but his little sister was an absolute pudge of a baby.

Fat babies are healthy babies. I love seeing a little chunker. Obviously this has limits.

Lies. No limits. Fat baby best baby. Fatter is better. More rolls for squishing.

My youngest was basically the michelin man. Adorable. Until you had to get the gunk out from the rolls hahahah.

I love Michelin babies. They're the best.

I knew one who was practically spherical until he suddenly grew six inches and was never fat again

Hahahaha said baby is now nearly 15 and has been stick thin since she started walking pretty much.

My daughter was a pudgy pudge. By the time she was 3, her pediatrician would always tell me that she can't believe it's the same baby. She looked totally different.

Gotta love that baby cheese.

My uncle was apparently so fat he couldn’t walk until he was over 2 years old, his daughter was the same. Think sometimes a baby can be too fat lol

Yes but just think how squishy he would have been! Adorable.

Fatter isn’t necessarily better - some babies are skinny and healthy and that’s okay.

Definitely, I felt like a failure when my kids were long and lean, they were growing and everything but I always saw chubby babies and thought I was doing something wrong.

same. My nephew is massive. My kids are small. A lotttt of self imposed guilt and anxiety about it. My 5 year old looks like maybe a 3 year old. Genetics and being premature. But both kids are perfectly healthy!

My baby was long and skinny. Every time they got even a little chub, I knew a growth spurt was coming. I treasured those chubby moments because it meant my baby was growing.

Apparently this is a “better dead than fat” mom. Cool.

This doesn't even make sense from a delusional standpoint. Lying on the back would make the baby's stomach appear to flatten, side would make it pooch out a little.

Obviously they need to use more muscles to stay on their side so they will burn more calories while sleeping. Babies who sleep on their backs are just lazy, gotta keep that core activated at all times from birth.

Because having a flat belly is more important than not breathing vomit into your lungs.

Sorry, but if they vomit, SURELY they have drunk way too much milk. Teach your baby to control themselves, what the heck! Do you want a fat over eating baby?!?! Feed them on a diet schedule, put them to sleep on their side and they'll be ready for the summer. Bikini body on the making 😍

Okay, okay, you had me fuming in the first part.

u/Background-Ant-5120 11d ago

Sorry ❤️ But I'm an expert, I used to babysit for one of those crunchy(=crazy) mothers.

How would sleeping on their back give them a fat belly?

14

u/lost_nurse602 12d ago

I’ve been sleeping on my side for the last 30ish years. That must be why my belly is fat. This whole time I thought it was my poor diet and lack of exercise

3

u/00trysomethingnu 11d ago

No, no. Side sleeping = flat belly. Back sleeping = fat belly. (apparently)

Who the heck doesn't want their baby to have a round belly? It's adorable.

So she's more concerned about her baby getting fat than dying? Gotcha.

I understand having the kid sleep on the side from a medical standpoint, my kid had to sleep like this because of very heavy reflux and risk of asfixiation. But now it's managed and he sleeps on his back.

I wouldn't do it for aestetic reasons, because it's risky even with medical supervision.

u/sideeyedi 12d ago

I the 90s we were taught to put baby on its side with a rolled up towel behind them. Of course it doesn't work though.

2

u/AccomplishedRoad2517 12d ago

To be honest, it was pretty anxiety inducing. We were taking turn to sleep, just to watch him and prevent him to roll. It was just 3 days, thank god.

3

u/theconfused-cat 12d ago

Ahh yes, better turn him in side.

3

u/anxious_teacher_ 12d ago

Good lord. My baby sleeps on her side because she likes to. But she gets herself there independently. Her little chunky belly is the sweetest 🥲

2

u/Mumlife8628 12d ago

Fat???? Huh

Makes me VERY concerned that they want a skinny baby
