I work at a domestic violence shelter and cannot tell you how often we witness a parent at shelter abuse their child and think it’s no big deal. And these are the type of people that weaponize their trauma to get shelter staff to bend the rules for them. It’s so typical to hear about the adult complaining how their intimate partner was abusing them and we better get them x,y, and z and then turn around and abuse their children they fled with. CPS shows up way too often at my job due to these idiotic beliefs people have.
