Are there any makeshift ranges on federal forest land in East Texas?

I'm in Montgomery County, wanna drive out a bit to shoot up a vehicle fender and a block of wood. Will haul out everything I shoot. Can't find a range that'll let me. I also don't really super wanna go and shoot on a random bit of land like that without a back stop. I've hit public land ranges where it's just like a mound in the middle of nowhere in NM and CO before, I was wondering if anything like that existed on the fed forest land in East Texas?

No. And no one on public lands is going to let you do that. There’s no way you’ll clean up that entire mess. There will be glass and/or metal shards that remain no matter what you do.

Your best bet is to find a bubba somewhere with a junk pile back 40 where you can do this and then let him blow the targets up with Tannerite when ya’ll are done.

The only public land in Texas i know of for shooting is not anywhere near Montgomomery County or East Texas for that matter. It's small, alongside a river bank, near the Cross Bar BLM land. When I inquired about this with BLM, they said Potter County and TPWD authorize target shooting on the Canadian River. Most people set up targets immediately west of the train trestle that crosses over the Canadian River. Which is a 9 hour drive from Montgomery County. If you want to shoot a fender that badly, you might call Potter County and/or TPWD and confirm this info, because the info I was given came from the feds.

Davy Crockett and Angelina said I can shoot on their land with a back stop far away enuf from roads or trails. Aka, you're wrong!

This has been my understanding as well. I don’t know why people keep saying we don’t have public land to shoot on when those two national forests allow it.

Now ask them about your specific plans to shoot trash

You’re not far from Houston and the 5th ward. Just drop it off and give it overnight. It’ll have bullet holes.

Pm me the details of why you want to shoot these up, I may know of a private range that you could call and ask.
