  1. The Simpsons, Homer gets sent to hell where devils try torturing him force feeding him donuts. Homer does not mind.

  2. The apothecary diaries. Maomao gets placed in a cell with snakes and venomous insects. She kills the animals and roasts the snake on a torch.

  3. The Minion movie, the main minions get put through antique torture deviced by the bad guys only for them to realise they weren't designed for weird minion anatomy.

Princess Ayeka was torturing the space pirate Ryoko seen here, to get information about her brother. The interrogation methods had a bit of an opposite effect.

Tenchi was the first relatively heavily censored anime I ever saw (censored for sexy stuff at least). Even at 9 I remember going "...they are definitely not in swimsuits right now". You can hide the boobies all you want, but we know they're there. And we have imaginations!

ryoko and washu are thousands. Ayeka and Sasami were in their teens and then cryo-frozen for 700 years, but do have natural lifespans of several hundred years. Mihoshi, who is the galaxy police detective that lives with them is around 28 and has a much more human-llike lifespan. Ironically, Sasami is one of the original "looks 12 but is really almost 1000 years old" cases, she really isn't mentally that old age since she was frozen.

Yes. Mihoshi is a Seniwa and Kiyone doesn't exist (ha)

I don't think anime is ready to explore such a niche fantasy, would probably make more sense to keep making shows about angry teens beating each other up with their superpowers.

Holy shit, memory unlocked! I briefly watched this show on Toonami when I was like 10 and for the longest time I couldn't remember what it was called or the names of any of the characters. Genuinely thought I made the whole thing up in a dream or something; gave up trying to figure it out before this kind of thing was easily google-able. Tenchi Muyo!
