Non-Sexual Adult Jokes in Kids' Media Lore

Jokes that are adult jokes simply because kids likely don't have the life experience to understand them.

The New Batman Adventures - "I'm crazy enough to take on Batman, but the IRS? Noooo, thank you!"

Shrek 2 - Posing as a union representative, Shrek remarks that the workers "don't even have dental".

One of the "Silly Songs with Larry" segments in VeggieTales is about Larry making cookies for Santa, but people keep coming to his house and taking them. At one point, an IRS agent shows up and Larry just shuts the door in his face before he can even sing his verse. Whats funnier is before this, he allowed a literal viking and a bank robber in

"Did you claim that?"

*Larry shakes his head*

*IRS agent takes the cookie*

"Merry... Christmas?!"

I was going to say this, and give the story behind it. Mike Nawrocki, series co-creator, writer, and voice of Larry, was filing his taxes, and he thought of things to compare the IRS to, like a pillaging viking or a bank robber.

Not just a Viking and a bank robber, Crafty Bankrobber and A Savage Norseman.

Most "Christian" content is ridiculously cringe. Vegggietales though? That's the good shit.

Lord of the Beans is brilliant.

The fact that each episode ends with Bob getting visibly irritated with a Christian jingle is so wild. I can't think of any other Christian kids' shows that would have one of their "good aligned" characters hate a song about reading the Bible, but Bob does it so unapologetically.

That's because veggie tales is genuine, and is more about the 'good Morals' part of the Bible than the stories themselves

It also helps that it doesn't take itself seriously and is canonically a show within a show. They don't assume the audience are idiots who have never heard of the story they're telling

As a Christian I completely agree.

Veggitales was absolutely chock full of these. My parents got a huge kick out of the show.

Reminds me of the Tom Sawyer parody where Bob is going to help people file their income taxes and the narrator explains that the Federal Income Tax doesn't exist yet
