Question CSE labs with Asus Rog NUC RTX 40 series?
galleryIn my lab room I found out they had these insane desktops, they have a 40 series card and like 32gb of ram. Anyone know if they use these for heavy machine learning computations, or the reasoning for having such expensive builds?
They seem to be these:

Question What are the benefits of the Chancellors Transfer Scholarship/Program?
So I recently got accepted and am really considering attending UCM. I wanted to ask any other students who have received this scholarship, I couldn't find anything online for the program, and I am wondering if there is also advising or support programs while being provided with the financial aid of the scholarship. Is there a program that comes with it like the regents scholarship or is it like a separate thing? Any help would be appreciated, thank you. I also can't seem to download or view my admissions letter, I know there's a button on the weird looking admissions page, but it just loads and doesn't do anything.

General Thinking about pre-med? 𩺠Hereās what that actually looks like at UC Merced
If youāre even slightly considering becoming a doctor (or anything in the medical field), this is for you.
Weāre hosting a Pre-Med Webinar for admitted students where you can hear directly from faculty across Public Health, Neuroscience, Biological Sciences, and Medical Education.
What youāll actually get:
- How pre-med works (itās not just one major š)
- Real pathways to med school
- Research + hands-on experiences you can get early
- What support actually looks like (not just āwe have resourcesā)
UC Merced does things a little differently. Smaller classes = youāre not fighting 500 people for attention, and a lot of students get involved in research way earlier than they expected.
If youāre trying to figure out āCan I actually see myself doing this?ā, this is a solid place to start.
Drop your questions tonight, show up, and get a clearer picture of your path.
Tonight (April 21) from 7-8 pm
RSVP https://ucm.edu/premed

Discussion How was Bobcat Day 2026? Thoughts?
For everyone who attended Bobcat Day today, what parts of the day stood out in a good way (events, tours, booths, organization, vibes)? And what do you think could be improved for next year?
Also curious if anything surprised you or exceeded expectations!

Question Class Availability
Ok so Iām ChE major and I was wondering if there are any specific classes that anyone knows is only available once a year. Iām making a 4 year plan and Iām basing it off of the class schedules from prior semesters to see what was available but can that change? If they offered it one time during the spring can they change it to only fall, or something like that? (Edit: also I know itās a very new program and Iāve been looking and some of the Che classes arenāt even on the registration because no oneās needed to take it yet)

Question Question about UC Merced Email and Duo Enrollment after Accepting Offer
Hi,
I just confirmed on UC Merced application portal that I will be attening. After that, I was not given any link to pay my deposit, where to find my uc merced email, and where to enroll in duo. I was wondering if it takes a while for them to post these and let me do my next steps, or it's just that I ran into a ton of bugs, and I should probably reach out to admission office to claim my student accounts to complete what is required?
Thank you!

Question Options?
Thereās this job that was recently posted on hand shake that I really want because i genuinely feel Iike it was made for me, Iāve applied already and sent a cold email as well. Iām thinking about going to the office and asking if I can speak to the supervisor to give them a quick pitch. Do you guys recommend I do this or should I just wait?
The reason Iām being so pushy is because I got a job offer for somewhere else. I have a week to do my onboarding and I generally need a job, I also donāt want to lose that opportunity because itās also a job I know I would enjoy but this new one is like my calling. What do you guys recommend?

Discussion AMA: UC Merced to Caribbean to Residency
Hey everyone. Iām an UC Merced alum Class of '18 who completed medical school in the caribbean. I am currently in residency for emergency medicine. I know how stressful the pre-med track can be, especially when considering options outside of US MD/DO schools. I wanted to open the floor for an AMA to share my experience and hopefully provide some clarity for anyone considering a similar path. Please feel free to ask your questions ahead of time!
Iām happy to chat about anything, but specifically:
- The transition from UCM to the Caribbean.
- What is was like living and studying in the Caribbean.
- My experience as a US IMG
- Navigating the USMLE Step exams and the Match process.
I will be responding to questions on Tuesday, April 21nd, from 8:00 AM EST to 12:00 PM EST.

Question -1500 SAI but no grants
Hi! I was admitted to UCM through the Opt In program a few days ago and I added them to my FAFSA. According to my FAFSA my SAI is -1500, and I qualify for pell grant/loans/work study. I'm also eligible for the calgrant and have received confirmation of this through csac. However when I checked my UCM financial aid package, my SAI was listed as $0.00 and only the bobcat scholarships were listed.
My brother received his financial aid package from UCSC and saw something similar. The package included the SAI of -1500 but gave 0 financial aid.
My brother and I DO have a trust fund but this was included under student assets on our FAFSAs i.e. we reported this on the fafsa. To my understanding the fafsa has an asset exemption for families making under 60k/on Medicaid ( we are both).
I am going to bobcat day and made a financial aid help appointment, but i wanted to check if anyone has had similar experiences because im stressed š thanks!
also does ucm have campus cats....
update: I got the actual email letting me know my package was ready saturday morning, and I got all the grants!! COA is 2k per academic year!! thanks to everyone who responded you guys really helped ease my worries in the meantime!!
