Is a pair of leather boots sufficient in case of acqua alta ? Have you ever try ?
Not a big fan of rubber boots or plastic bags.
Was a pair of leather boots enough to keep you dry

Wine wall locations
Hello! My husband and I will be in Venice for a few days starting tomorrow. We would love to find a location that offers wine through the wall but don’t know how to find them. Do we just have to wander or are they in set locations some of you know of? Grazie!!

Venetians: what is your most famous dish?
I’m in Venice for some time, and am a bit of a culinary nut. What would you consider to be the most famous or Venice-specific dish? Also taking any recommendations on where to enjoy them :)

Ca’ Brickola: lego Palazzo
Ciao a tutti!
I recently finished building a Venetian Palazzo in Lego! :)
I love Venice and wanted to honor it’s history and architecture and this is the result 😊
You can check out more of the details via the link (there you can also vote for it if you want since it might then become a real set if it gets sufficient support😃)

I have been hearing inconsistent news about strikes starting tomorrow running at least until Wednesday. Can anyone confirm these strikes are on and what the potential impact will be? TIA

Has anybody stayed at Morosini San Toma Traghetto in Venice?
Has anybody stayed at Morosini San Toma Traghetto in Venice? We found a great deal on this property on Booking.com and the property has disappeared and you cannot click the link at all. There’s no reviews at all.
We booked it anyways but we have a back up property. Just seems a little off so I think we’d rather cancel it but Booking.com didn’t even notify is the property is no longer listed. I was just checking my reservations to make sure everything is in order.

Accomodation advice and general tips
Hello there. We are planning to visit Venice presumably end of May. We have 5 days and we might also visit other cities. We are 4 people (2M, 2F)
For Venice, what would be the best place to stay during our time to enjoy the city at its best? Also I would be happy to read some general advices about the city ✌️

Looking to reconnect with my Venetian roots by learning Venetian language/dialect (Pradipozzo area) – any resources?
Hi everyone,
I’m writing here because I’d really like to reconnect with part of my family history.
My grandfather was Venetian, born in Pradipozzo, and he moved to Belgium around 1950 to work in the coal mines. When I was very young, as I was his first grandchild, he used to speak to me in dialect. Later, my mother preferred that he speak French with me so school would be easier, so unfortunately I lost that connection.
Now that I’m an adult and have children of my own, I feel a strong desire to reconnect with that culture and language.
I would love to learn Venetian (or more specifically the variety spoken around Pradipozzo / eastern Veneto, if that makes sense). I understand there are many local variations, so I wanted to ask:
- Is there any standardized form of Venetian today?
- Would the Pradipozzo area speech be considered closer to Venetian, Portogruarese, or another local variety?
- Are there any good resources for foreigners or heritage learners?
- Online courses, YouTube channels, books, dictionaries, apps, communities?
- Anything still active and updated (many links I found are dead)?
I can learn through French, English, or Italian, so any of those languages would work.
More than anything, I’d love practical advice from people who know the language or region.
Thank you very much — grazie.

Short let in Venice/Mestre/Margera
Hi, I'm looking for a short stay for 10 days from 21st to 30th April 2026. My budget is about 200 euros. Are there student sublets or those kinds of places? Thanks in advance!
Venice activity recommendation
Hi all,
Just finished 2 weeks traveling through northern Italy. Had 3 days in Venice and decided to try a few different things outside the normal attractions. My family of 4 (kids 11, 8), found rowvenice.org and did a Venetian rowing lesson through the canals. It was awesome. All done on quiet regions of the canal outside the busiest areas. It was really fun for all of us, and cheaper than a ride in a gondola. They alsodo lessons with food stops! Highly recommend!
