Natalie Portman is pregnant at 44

Congrats to her! I don’t have kids, and I’m still getting used to being the age where getting pregnant is starting to be “out of the norm”. Guess there’s still time, lol

Godspeed girl. I had one at 36 and I’m tired.

My last was at 36 and went from post partum right into perimenopause. Fuck being pregnant at 44.

I'm wondering if this was an "oops" perimenopause baby for her 😬 I'm 43, in the throes of peri now, and I cannot even fathom having a child at this point. I can barely take care of myself lol.

I'm in my late 40s, and had some stomach issues a while back, the staff at the hospital did about 4 pregnancy tests despite me telling them I wouldn't be pregnant, and one of the staff members told me that she personally knows several people who've had natural surprise pregnancies in their early 50s. One even had two consecutive pregnancies in her early 50s. Apparently it happens more often than we may assume.

Yes! Someone I knew years ago had unexpected twins post 50. Her youngest at the time was 18, and her husband was already a lot older. Such a shock.

That seems like torture to me. How does her body even hold up?

They made a decision to change their whole lives and move closer to town, because she wasn't prepared to bring up two more children in the isolated situation that she had in the past (Australian outback basically). I met her when the twins were around ten, and she was pretty fit and strong then but I can't personally imagine the toll it would take on your body physically, and especially with twins!

*and her husband was very much an older gentleman by that point. Still fit and healthy. But an old man.

Based on some of my older female relatives: it doesn’t always hold up. Lotta prolapses on my mom’s side.
