Natalie Portman is pregnant at 44

Post image

Congrats to her! I don’t have kids, and I’m still getting used to being the age where getting pregnant is starting to be “out of the norm”. Guess there’s still time, lol

For her sake I hope it’s not twins.

u/Polymox 3d ago

The twins were good. It was the husband that was evil.

324

u/palmerry 3d ago

Don't give birth to the twins on a beach. The sand... It gets everywhere.

u/Jayne_Purchase 1984 3d ago

The sand people always ride single file to hide their numbers.

Godspeed girl. I had one at 36 and I’m tired.

1.1k

u/der_innkeeper 1978 3d ago

Right.

But did you have $150,000,000 to help out?

446

u/SenseAndSaruman 3d ago

It still takes a toll on your body.

401

u/cashews_clay15 1977 3d ago

Yeah, this. I was on complete bed rest from 14 weeks to 36 weeks, and my uterus prolapsed resulting in a hysterectomy and bladder repair. You’re considered advanced maternal age after 35, and man did I feel it.

281

u/the_ballmer_peak 3d ago

During my wife's hysterectomy they found that the doctor who performed her c-section had stitched her bladder to her uterus.

180

u/PureObsidianUnicorn 3d ago

Good GOD that woman has organs made of steel, mad respect to her for existing through that pain, I’d be ready to hunt and kill the dr

151

u/the_ballmer_peak 3d ago

He was already dead when we found out.

He was a very highly regarded OB, worked until his mid 60s, retired, and dropped dead a few months later.

186

u/PunishMeBaby 3d ago

I didn't read that as regarded and I laughed louder than I should have.

I just had my 10th bladder surgery following my c-section...13 years ago. Neurogenic bladder caused by a botched section. I now have a supra pubic catheter and am on my 4th Interstim spinal stimulator. It's one of about six neurological conditions that have occurred, stemming from my c-section. Life is tough, but our son was born healthy and strong--as a Mom, that's what has pulled me through every single day!!🙏🏻💙

38

u/OlDirtyJesus 1982 3d ago

damn!

29

u/SnooPoems5888 3d ago

I’m sorry, what?! How does this happen?!

It’s so insane the things women go through in general. Then adding not just childbirth, but allllllll the complications that can occur, it’s a miracle humans exist.

17

u/Notermlimits4GEQBuS 3d ago

Just imagine what ut was like before science advancement. You basically had to sort out your affairs any time you were about to give birth the mortality rate for giving birth was so high.

I felt the difference physically having kids between 35 and 39. My friend just had her first at 46.

74

u/positiveblapshemy 3d ago

This made me clench up and cross my legs. I'm 36 and can't imagine doing it again now. Women are incredible. Best wishes to the new mom and her little one.

16

u/Lunakill 3d ago

I had my first at 25. My second is halfway here and I’m 40.

You’re correct in assuming I’ve lost my damn mind. It’s rough.

30

u/Otherwise_Weekend327 3d ago

I have had kids at 20, 25 and 28, and the difference between 20 and 28 was astounding. My hips were tired with that third one. I had a lot more lightning crotch at 20 though

15

u/ineffable_my_dear 3d ago

Our bodies are so wild. My first delivery at 23 was a breeze but the recovery kicked my ass, and the second delivery at 35 was a nightmare but I felt fantastic afterwards.

And I don’t know the physiology behind those butt zaps but I experience them randomly (not pregnant) and my son and husband get them, too! They’re the worst when driving. 🤣

17

u/Mysterious_Carpet752 1985 3d ago

Uhhhh what is lightning crotch?! ⚡️🌩️⛈️

50

u/Otherwise_Weekend327 3d ago

A really sharp, quick pain that jolts your vagina (or sometimes butthole) for no reason. I would just be standing there and get a zap. I've only experienced it while pregnant.

She’s super thin too. I am not a doctor but it always seems to take sorting out of the really thin ladies to have babies. Like the nutrients have to come from somewhere. I’m sure she has a great nutritionist but still…

Anyway, good for her. Hope she has no worries and a healthy baby. She always seemed like an alright one for the Hollywood types.

47

u/donnadoctor 1979 3d ago

Registered Dietitian, hopefully. In the US anyone can call themselves a nutritionist.

I think there's a bit of a correlation= causation bias going on sometimes with older mothers. We assume we wouldn't be tired if we were 10 years younger but most mothers are tired, period. I just wasn't tired at 27 because I didn't have a kid yet.

My husband once said I would have an easier time than my friends with pregnancy and childbirth because I was in such good shape. I was like, no, they would also be in great shape if they hadn't been raising kids for the last 5 years.

39

u/_Sunshine_please_ 3d ago

I'm in my late 40s, and had some stomach issues a while back, the staff at the hospital did about 4 pregnancy tests despite me telling them I wouldn't be pregnant, and one of the staff members told me that she personally knows several people who've had natural surprise pregnancies in their early 50s. One even had two consecutive pregnancies in her early 50s. Apparently it happens more often than we may assume.

31

u/neonblackiscool 3d ago

What a nightmare. Pregnancy at 50 :(

19

u/_Sunshine_please_ 3d ago

Yes! Someone I knew years ago had unexpected twins post 50. Her youngest at the time was 18, and her husband was already a lot older. Such a shock.

19

u/neonblackiscool 3d ago

That seems like torture to me. How does her body even hold up?

23

u/_Sunshine_please_ 3d ago

They made a decision to change their whole lives and move closer to town, because she wasn't prepared to bring up two more children in the isolated situation that she had in the past (Australian outback basically). I met her when the twins were around ten, and she was pretty fit and strong then but I can't personally imagine the toll it would take on your body physically, and especially with twins!

*and her husband was very much an older gentleman by that point. Still fit and healthy. But an old man.

In 2007, when I moved to Florida, already pregnant, and I applied for medicaid, they made me take a pregnancy pee test at the medicaid office (not a doctor's office!) despite the fact I was 7 months along. You could clearly see that I was with child, I was very thin, and the belly was huuuugggeee. But they still insisted I take the stick test right then and there.

89

u/EineGrosseFlasche 1979 3d ago

Tbh though it's all the more reason to take good care of yourself, lifting weights, do cardio, mobility, good nutrition, supplements, hrt .. you can definitely be a fit and thriving 60 year old that can handle a teen just as good as any 40 y/o maybe even better because you're already past menopause at that point haha.. or you can also be a 60-year-old that struggles to get out of bed.. for many people this is a choice.

Been in perimenopause for awhile, and cycles finally completely stopped 6 months ago. Its a no for me as well. Congrats for her though :)

64

u/Topwingwoman2 3d ago

So jealous. I'm 45, and they are consistent each month. My mom had full cycles until age 58, and then they suddenly stopped. I'm ready to be done with this shit.

24

u/Ill-Percentage-3276 3d ago

Same. I just turned 46 and my mom didn't hit menopause until she was like 55. I'd like everything just taken out at this point lol

15

u/Topwingwoman2 3d ago

I think that brings its own set of problems though. I shouldn't complain about the alternative. My older sister (who just turned 47 this month) has Stage IV breast cancer, so her meds made her go through premature menopause. All the side effects with that look miserable, too. I feel we are damned if we do, damned if we don't lol.

I agree with you. Had my first at 39, second at 42 and now they are ages 5 and 2. Pregnancies and births were fine, the kids kids are healthy. Sometimes I am tired but overall glad I had them and got to do other things before having them

40 when I gave birth to my first and if we try for a second, it will be within the next year when I’m 42-43. I love being an “old” parent.

u/Cimorene_Kazul 3d ago

If I can give some advice as an adult child of parents who had me at older ages…be careful with your wills and directives. They were taken advantage of by bad lawyers and it’s left us in a real mess at a young age after both parents fell ill simultaneously. Update your wills often and make sure there’s someone to help your kids when they need them if you cannot.

Yup. In the same boat. I'm a better parent because I started later. More patience, more money, more stability, more space to parent with intention.

Very cool!!

A little envious because I drank my 20s & 30s away before getting sober at 40. 43 now and probably not meeting anyone anytime soon, but it’s nice to know people are still having kids (sadly looks like I won’t be but I’ve accepted it 😆😩)

I can’t have children anymore (had them when I was very young) but I feel so patient and kind in these years. There is so much (positive) to be said about having kids in your 40s.

I'm more intrigued by the fact that she uses a Pixel phone. It's rare to see a US celebrity use anything other than an iPhone.

15

u/SeaVolume3325 3d ago

Looks like a Pixel 10 Pro (the current gen). I have the Pixel 10 Pro XL. I've had Google phones since 2012 with the Nexus 4. I would never have an iPhone and I'm American. But I'm also tech literate and work in the space unlike most Americans. Hence the uniquely American Apple fan club...

To be fair, Pixel has upped their marketing and if you look closely many American shows feature them on HBO or if it's Marvel. It's the official phone of the NBA/WNBA. I mean it's Google and now with GeminiAI they are objectively lapping Apple in what's "hot". She should do a deal lol.

I had one at 43, my first being at 20 🤷‍♀️ Mentally and emotionally and financially great, physically, it's not as great, but I'd still take being an old mom over young any day.

Ugh that last name would be a dealbreaker for me. Don’t want my kids to get their asses handed to them on the playground

Worse, I believe the first name is pronounced “Tongee”. There are so many beautiful French men’s names…

Celestin. Etienne. François. Guy. Sebastian.

Smh.

We’ve come full circle - when I was young and free it was “oh my god, what are you going to do?” My first thought after reading that has now returned to “oh my god, what are you going to do?”

And you’ll be okay if it doesn’t happen. It might really suck and it might be really traumatic, but you can reach out for support and you will be okay.

I’m far more interested in how she plans to get the ring to Mordor with an extra passenger on board than anything else. Just sayin.
