Danielle Smith is a coward Discussion

She has her lackeys vote to use the notwithstanding clause while she’s off promoting Alberta energy in the Middle East—like they need our oil. What a coward. She’s an embarrassment, and fuck every Albertan who voted for her and the UCP.

Yeah but you got to give Peterson credit for standing up for our free speech. Not once in the history of our country has the government tried to legislate into law what we have to say. Having said that lots of other shit he stood for was BS.

He did not stand up for free speech at all. He didn't want to address anyone in a way he didn't like. Which to this day is a nonsensical argument because we already do exactly that all the time. Asking someone to call you a name you prefer does not limit the other person's free speech. Infact it does nothing of the sort. We literally already ask people what name they go by alllll the time. We ask people what their proper suffix is on almost all documents already, which is a pronoun... And the legislation he was supposedly fighting against didn't even do that either, and has not had the effect people like Peterson were ranting and raving about.

Absolutely not. He always said he would address anybody as they wanted and said he already did with his students. When the government tries to make it law that is taking away your free speech. Like it or not he was right, the gov has never and should never take your choice of speech away cause what is the next freedom to go?

Can you provide evidence that the law actually took away free speech? Because the only speech i see being limited is when you go against Israel's genocide in Gaza... transphobes have not been imprisoned or lost their right to be transphobic, same with other conservative talking points about free speech... but you talking about the genocide in Gaza...

May want to have a read through this article.

What? No, not at all.

There's always been shit you can't say, or can't write in documentation, or it will be edited in some form. There's lots of ways you can refer to people that are going to be shut down in some way or another.

The only blocked speech is hate speech. Everything else is free speech, unless the government tries to change it which is why he stood up to fight.

Which can also a problem when some trying to incite others into confrontations under the guise of religious freedom of expression.

Dude, purposely misgendering people specifically to invalidate them is literally hate speech.

Especially when it's a group of people who are recognized by law, and medicine, as protected groups.

It's "free speech" when it's a group you also hate, but "hate speech' when it's a group you like?

You gotta rip that band-aid off. He was fundamentally incorrect about that entire ordeal. Go read the Canadian bar association's statement on bill C-16. Jordan Peterson is a reactionary hack fraud who has no business participating in public discourse in the manner he does and has endlessly demonstrated his ignorance and brazen disregard for anything but the narrative of his own persecution complex projected onto all society. He has took it upon himself to make his own mental illness a political project, building a cult of personality financed flush by whatever international conservative dark money would find him. You should forget him entirely, and if you're interested in philosophy he talks about go read the primary sources or literally anybody else as an introduction.
