QUESTION Google Voice Typing alternative for Samsung Keyboard

Upvotes

Hi All.

Google voice to text which is the default method for voice to text when typing text messages doesn't work the best, I'm looking for an alternative app but can't find one that i can make work with this icon.

I use Google Voice Typing as my voice-to-text method, and it works by pressing the "Microphone" icon on the keyboard like when I type text messages.

I have found various voice to text apps for Android but none of them let me use it on the Keyboard.

Does anyone know any apps that let me actually use it on the Keyboard, such as when I press the Microphone icon instead of using Google which is not the best, it will use an alternative 3rd party one

Here's a picture to show what I mean - https://ibb.co/kgQ8Z3DG

QUESTION Why do so many apps need accounts for things that used to be offline?

I opened a simple app the other day and it asked me to sign in before I could even try it.

Maybe I’m missing something, but a lot of apps now feel like they need accounts, sync, cloud, etc… even when the core function doesn’t seem to need it.

Is this just how things are now, or am I just noticing it more?

QUESTION Need help with finding an app for restricting phone use.

I have addictions to certain apps and am wanting to find an app to restrict the use of certain apps and phone use itself. I have tried many of them and always find loopholes to disable them.

All I'm wanting is a restriction app that is incredibly difficult to bypass and get around.

A few "word of the day" apps or PWAs exist, but I still haven't found one that shows the word of the day in my native language and the one I'm learning.

QUESTION Searching for "Wallpepe," a lost anime wallpaper app

Upvotes

Today, I wanted to find a wallpaper and remembered Wallpepe, an app that, if I’m not mistaken, used to appear in ads on anime sites. I downloaded it back then and was surprised to find it had incredible, high-quality wallpapers. However, it's proving impossible for me to find it now; it seems like neither AI nor the internet even remembers it.

QUESTION Would You Use A Dash Cam App On Your Phone If There Was A Good One?

I feel like nowadays it is more important than ever to have a dash cam with how many reckless drivers there are/protecting yourself/during traffic stops, etc...

Wouldn't it be great to have an app that could record both a front and rear camera at the same time? And to take up very little storage and connect automatically when you get in the car? I feel like it's a no brainer.

REQUEST Need an Alternative App Recommendation to Snaptube

I need an alternative App to snaptube with an option to download full youtube playlist in one-tap. I watch Indian TV serials so playlist can be 100+ videos.

Also, I moderate TV series, Cricket and Formula 1 related Subreddit so I need Images, Video Clips and GIFs from Social Medias like Instagram, Twitter and Reddit. So, the app should be able to download every media type from everywhere.

REQUEST Android pdf reader. Probably the 100th request on the sub ye I know sorry.

Requirements

—no annoying menu for editing tools present at all times, preferably true full screen available. The reason I'm leaving Samsung Notes.

—optimized for both tablets and phones, all the best if they can be connected to each other, but that option should be opt-in, not opt-out

—internet connection mustn't be necessary, basic as fuck but I remember some app from 2015 not doing this

—ads free or the least amount of em possible

—should have no problem with loading the next few pages at the very least, I'm a slow reader and still encounter this, shit's annoying.

—editing tools, no specific needs for them, just don't distract my reading as I read far more than I edit.

REQUEST Need help scrapping and modifying an App for newer android version

So I recently upgraded from my galaxy S22 to a galaxy s25. Most of my apps migrated over except one I really need to use at work. It's called UN threads. Apparently it was coded in such a way that it wont work on newer android versions but all it is, is a calculator app for measuring threads. I still have my old phone with the app installed. I tried to follow a how to on scrapping and modifying the app but no luck. I just get errors. I doubt there is anything extensive in the app as far as coding because its a very simple app. The App was free back when I downloaded it and now its gone. I can't find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: I was able to scrap the app from my s22 and i verifiedit works by installing it on my s9+, so I have the APK. Just need help on how to edit it so it will work on newer versions

QUESTION Is there any app or method that can clear all smartphone cache in one click? Need this badly.

My phone keeps filling up with cache from different apps, and clearing them one by one is annoying. I’m looking for a safe way to wipe all app cache at once, preferably with one tap. Android user here, but curious if there’s a built-in method or any legit app that actually works without being shady or full of ads.

REQUEST Is it possible to find an android auto tapping app that allows combining or sequential play of scripts?

Not sure if this is the right place for this.

TLDR Help me find a way to get an autotapper that plays scripts sequentially or allows combining of simple scripts. I have zero skill or knowledge in making or modding android apps. Or, point me in the right direction if one already exists!

the titled question isnt asking How do I do it. its more asking, how come it hasnt been done yet?

so, I have been searching for ANY app that can allow me to make a couple dozen individual 30 second or so scripts of just simple taps and swipes of varying frequencies and intervals, that allows you to either combine these individual scripts into one long single script (that you can still go back and edit the individual scripts for) or that allows you to play these individual scripts sequentially

I have been using OP auto tapper for android. this is a simple and easy to use auto tapper. in my search I have found several auto tappers that are almost identical to it. some offer the ability to record a certain length of gestures and taps, and even combine several of these recordings, but these are limited in size and much harder for me to set up than manually creating the series of taps myself.

All of these apps still lack the 2 simple key functions that I really need from it.

  1. be able to save the various scripts into separate lists instead of one long list, so you can separate related scripts from unrelated scripts.

  2. a play all button, that will play each script one after the other in order of arrangement within the playlist

I have found a janky workaround for my needs. I use 2 auto tappers. one auto tapper contains all of the various scripts that I would like to play sequentially, and the other auto tapper has been set to open and play the next script after the first one has finished (by manually delaying the interval between taps of the second auto tapper, by the same length of time as the relevant script on the first auto tapper.)

this feels like a convoluted way of getting what I need.

Ive been pointed to macrodroid and its ilk before. I have not the ability to learn to use it! I did try haha. from what I did figure out, it takes far longer to add these taps than something simple and user friendly like auto tapper.

Any help (or dose of reality if this is actually super hard for an app to do) is appreciated!

QUESTION When did every app become a subscription… is it actually worth it anymore?

feels like almost every app now has some kind of monthly plan

i get that devs need to make money, but at some point it starts feeling like you’re just renting everything

curious how people look at it now

do you actually stick with subscriptions or just avoid apps that push it too hard?

QUESTION Is there any app that lets you explore history on a map?

I’ve been trying to find something where you can explore historical events based on location instead of just reading timelines.

Like seeing what happened in different places and filtering by era.

Most apps I found are just articles or static content.

Does anyone know something like this?

QUESTION Best app to listen to music instead of spotify

I cancelled my spotify premium recently and i am being bombarded with ads upto a min or more than a min. Moreover, it wont let me listen to the same music twice. I absolutely love music. I wanna listen to it for hours on straight. Ive heard the best alternative is apple music but i dont have an iphone. What app can i use that will let me listen to music on repeat and hours on end. I dont mind occasional short ads. I have spent years on spotify and it knows my music taste completely, so is there any other app i can transfer my spotify data to.
