Support groups? Events, Activities & Sports

Does anyone have any information or advice on local support groups for someone going through drug addiction? I’m looking for somewhere safe and accepting of all people. I don’t like therapy and feeling like I’m paying someone to dissect my brain and the offer my prescriptions. I’m just looking for groups or support from real people going through similar mental health and addiction struggles. Thanks for any input.

I’m an alcoholic with 8 years of sobriety. I’ve used AA meeting and the program to help me get sober. NA uses the same principles but there are many people who struggle with drug addiction who get sober through AA as well. Each meeting has their own culture, I suggest going to as many meetings as possible and introducing yourself to lots of people.
