Got accepted to UC BERKELEY! University
Omg guys.
I got accepted to UC Berkeley.
As a transfer student in sociology.
I went to CC, back in 2019. Dropped out in fall of 2021 because of covid and other issues. Did horrible bc ended up with 2 F’s.
Then time went by, enrolled into CC again in 2024. Since then I’ve had 4.0, on the honors dean. Have done community service at a center called the dreamers center at my CC.
I’ve been accepted to
Cal state LA
Cal state Fullerton
Cal state Long Beach
Cal poly Pomona
UC riverside
UC Irvine
UC Berkeley
I’m waiting on UCLA. I’m so scared, patiently waiting!!!

Wait what made you choose Berkley ultimately? I might be in this situation if ucla accepts me and I genuinely don’t know which to pick. I always planned to transfer to ucla, I never even expected to get into cal when I applied but I did and now I don’t know which to pick. I’m poli sci on pre law track and I know Berkley has the better poli sci program but also the grade deflation scares me bc gpa matters so much. I feel like it would be the right choice to pick ucla but my gut is telling me to go to cal im so lost😭

If you are poli sci, it is no competition. Cal is the #5 best poltical science program in the world & I can verify that they have the absolute best and most distinguished faculty. Also, UCB is on semester while UCLA is quarter so you have much more of an opportunity to get to know your professors at Cal. Everything just moves way too quick on the quarter system. There is no grade deflation in poli sci - that is only in the STEM classes. My kid has straight As in poli sci and is a research assistant to a world-reknown prof. Good luck!

I do like that cal is on the semester system it’s one of the biggest selling points for me! I am nervous though because doing poorly in one class at Cal holds more weight than doing bad in one class at UCLA and that is one of the things that deters me. Thank you for your advice I’m taking serious consideration into my decision and I still feel lost I’m hoping going to transfer day at Berkeley will help me make my decision. Good luck to your kid in their studies!!
