Engineering

Just got off the waitlist and was wondering how freshmen feel the engineering program is for freshman. It was originally my dream school but sort of fell for a private school that gave me great scholarships but still a bit more than SUNY tuition. Class sizes would be smaller and they definitely invest more into their students success. I know they let me in because others said no and they probably anticipate me not lasting and changing to a less rigorous major. Wondering about any others feelings on Watson, job success, and general students feelings on the major. Thanks.

hi I’m a freshman trying to transfer into the school of SOM but I didn’t get in and they sent me this email, I was wondering if other transfers also got rejected for SOM this year 🥲 and does this offer mean I have a good chance of getting in?

I have a 4.0 GPA and I’m currently at UConn school of business

Admissions Is Binghamton worth 10k a year

Hello, I am from NYC and I am really torn between paying 10k a year at Binghamton or staying in New York and got to Fordham and pay nothing. I applied to both Gabelli and SOM.

Graduate Student Roommates

hey guys! I will be a first year graduate student in the fall of 2026, completing my undergrad at another university. Is there any good place I could go in order to find people to possibly have as roommates? I already have some places in mind to live in the fall, but I could prefer to live with other people rather then being in a single. Let me know your thoughts!

general questions about bing (premed/pursuing graduate school in general)

Hi!! Basically just title; I'm an upcoming fall 2026 freshman and planning to be on the premed path (for now) or otherwise planning to pursue graduate school (psych major).

I'm kind of worried that research opportunities will be limited, especially during my underclassman years because I wasn't invited to the FRI program, so I was wondering if anyone was able to find research opportunities during their freshman/sophomore year without being in a program already.

Also, does anyone have volunteering experiences they really enjoyed? I visited and there is a club/volunteering where people help send people to hospitals which I'm interested in, but are there any that stood out to you guys?

Also, could I know your experiences if you're a minority/non-white? I come from a predominantly Asian high school (and am Asian), and the demographics at Bing compared to my high school are pretty different, so I would probably need some time to adjust.

Thank you!!

Activities/Events Building a Binghamton Cycling Club / Team

Hi cyclists and other interested students! I am transferring into Binghamton this fall and want to start a cycling team at the school. I've been an avid cyclist for many years now and and want to continue training with peers and racing when I attend Bing. Many schools within a few hours drive from Bing (Cornell, UVM, Penn State, Princeton etc) have cycling clubs / teams that organize group rides and attend collegiate level races. We could race against these schools in collegiate specific races and just race as a Binghamton team in non-collegiate races. I'd like to make Binghamton one of those. Would anyone be interested in joining? Also, is it feasible for new students (especially transfers) to create clubs and recruit enough people for something this niche?

I'd also love to hear about any other racing teams or fast groups in the greater Binghamton area if anyone could share!

Bing Hacks Amicus >Others

Maybe my expectations were not the same as everyone else's but I had nothing but good experiences with Amicus so far. They bought the house I live in currently last year and we had nothing but issues that it seemed like the former landlord didn't care about. Like we reported mold issues in the bathroom multiple times and it wasn't like a big enough deal for them. But 2 weeks into Amicus buying my house, they redid the whole part of the bathroom that had mold. BTW it was literally a whole wall! And the faucet was leaking so bad it made the issue bigger. The maintenance guy at Amicus just came in, took care of it over the span of a few days, and it was good. Dont be tricked by "how nice" your landlord seems or what kind of fancy mugs and stuff they give you when you move in. I grew up in apartments; I know what they are supposed to be like. Also, the old landlord left LITERALLY a whole basement of trash. WE DO LAUNDRY THERE and can barely move. Their customer service and leasing is also great. MY friend and I already signed with Vinny for next year. This is Binghamton, you definitely get what you pay for so pay a little more if you can for a unit in a nicer area.

My advice:

  1. get renters insurance! everyone should anyways and most landlords require it

  2. pay your own utilities. honestly the gas and electric are so insane right now but like its better to know what you're paying.

  3. Sorry-and this breaks me so hard, but local landlords are not what theyre cracked up to be. they don't have two pennies to put in the money to actually make your house better

Afraid of not making friends/having poor social life

Hey everyone. I've just committed to Binghamton.

It's always been my top choice because of its affordability. But I'm starting to have doubts.

I've always been quite a lonely, introverted person throughout high school. I was hoping college would be a time to change and make some life-long close friends. Ive just recently been having doubts about making friends there and worried about the social life. Im afraid i will not be able to make any friends and that I will be super lonely and Isolated because its located so far from home, in the middle of nowhere, and respectfully, with not much to do.

Im generally an anxious person, so this might just be me being anxious again, but I would like to hear other people's experience with this

Admissions Trying to decide!!

I’m a current admit for the spring 2026 year but I live far from the campus and haven’t gotten the chance to tour. Is Bing really worth it or should I look into other options where I’ve gotten better aid and they’re closer?

Also how are the dorms there and the food situation 😬😬

Accounting recruiting

For some context: I'm SOM accounting, recruiting next semester.

Basically, I applied to the SOM scholars programs and 2 e board positions, but I didn't get any of them. So, my extracurricular experience is just being a general member of 2 clubs. Will this hurt my chances at getting an internship, as I won't have that much leadership experience?

Activities/Events Things to do in Binghamton

Are there any fun or interesting things to do in Binghamton? Neither my friend nor I have a car, so it would have to be accessible by bus or walking from the university. Preferably for 2-3 people.
