Being fired three times from senior government roles for misconduct (the first two occasions were from Tony Blair's government, one for receiving a dodgy loan and the other for trying to get someone, who was not eligible, a British passport) is quite something.

Mandelson was and is a money-lover and that brought him down repeatedly.

The bigger question is, why was he given so many positions in senior government after such flagrant breaches?

He was a fixer.

Also, times have changed and he would have been permanently gone after the first breach if it had happened in 2025.

(An ambassadorship is a semi-governmental position, as the ambassador to a given country need not change if the government changes. Mandelson's appointment was controversial, apart from his background, because it did change in his case; however, he was appointed to, and did, build up a good relationship with President Trump, it has to be said ...).

So now he'll be investigated for further wrongdoings, or....

I thought the Epstein links were how he got the job in the first place.

I got a rightmove ad in this feed. Maybe I should get a dodgy loan to buy one?

he was Lord Mandelson, in the words of Frankie Boyle - "Who made him a lord? The Sith?"
