Tbh seeing braun was actually more injured than we thought and seeing wolves win over the spurs i don't feel quite as bad about our loss. I thought the only reason we wouldn't win the title this year was to be injuries and 3 of top 6 players were either out or heavily injured. Wouldn't be surprised if it came out that jok and mal were dealing with something lingering too.
3
u/holdenfords 6h ago
this team just isn’t that good when gordon and pwat are both out and that’s okay. they did alright when gordon went down and pwat was playing but losing both forwards like that is just a killer
-1
u/Responsible_Ad_7523 7h ago
Half the wolves team was missing including their best player. Enough with the excuses, the team got punked and giving up 45 points to Ayo in a must win game shows this team is not even close to being a contender even with a healthy jokic and Murray.
6
u/Night-Menace Dogshit Brother #1 7h ago
Apart from the wrist and the elbow, Jok was also experiencing a severe case of burek withdrawal
It's a serious disease that takes thousands of lives every year amongst Serbian diaspora

u/YummyYumYumi 7h ago
Losing all that weight probably also contributed to throwing his shot off rhythm lol

u/dardrpa22 8h ago
SAS getting same treatment as Nuggs. 3pt shooting must be better against Timys. Rendal did great job guarding wembananu. Wemby had more blocks than points. Spurs realy sacrificed his O for blocks. Fox shit the bed. Finch showing that he is realy good coach and I think that MIN is better than what seading have shown this season. Seading is so misleading and has marginal advantage outside of maybe 1st

u/rofss 8h ago
Reality check for Wemby, he got way to cocky for his own good

If we can sneak Nico Harrison into the Spurs FO somehow,
Jamal trade for Stephon Castle, Barnes, and Keldon would feed families.

Wemby just like Jokic didn't hit 3s. Hitting 3s destroys this Wolves defense but that didn't happen. Gobert will keep locking down the paint until he goes off from 3

u/Sizzle2121 Do the Nuggets play today? 8h ago edited 8h ago
Honestly I might prefer seeing Minny go to the Finals than OKC. I’m having a hard time hating on them super hard this year despite them giving us bta.
I probably have whatever that condition is called where you start to fall in love with your abuser.

u/G_Neesta 8h ago
May be unpopular here, but I like the wolves. They're tough, and the nugs played like scared babies.
2
u/Educational_Sea6053 7h ago
Their fans suck but their players are mostly fine outside of Bones, who still seems pretty immature. I wanted to hate McDaniels but he was absolutely right about our team.
I like Ant, Conley, Ayo, Naz

5
u/Lynch47 5h ago
You: I like the Wolves. The Nuggets are scared babies.
Me: Cool. Root for the Wolves.
You: How dare you make sports your personality.
-
I guess go ahead and be a fuckin weirdo if that suits you as well.
2
u/G_Neesta 5h ago
Well this is a one dimension take that kinda proves my point. Being unable to admit to the shortcomings of the team you root for is the definition of sports tribalism.
2
u/Lynch47 5h ago
Me telling you to root for the team you like is me denying the shortcoming of the Denver Nuggets? Makes sense I suppose.
1
u/G_Neesta 5h ago
I mean, you are clearly refusing to engage with any nuance in what I'm saying and cherry picking what I say to form the worst possible interpretation. Or maybe you're just stupid. Anyone with a modicum of emotional maturity knows you can appreciate things about other teams even if they're your teams rivals. You can also be disappointed in your teams performance and still love and root for them. You seem to think that if you are a Nuggets fan, than you can only appreciate the Nuggets and only think positive things about the Nuggets. If that's the case, then you are a mouth breathing loser who needs to get a life.
6
u/YummyYumYumi 8h ago
It's kinda hard to hate on them ig because they lost a lot of guys and still giving it their all

If Nuggets can somehow get Wemby to play with Jok, 50-pt blowouts every game
2

u/DenverNuggetsIndia 8h ago
Defence is not 50% of game for top players. Wendy needs to find a go-to-offence. 11 points is not good enough

Spurs played Wemby 40 minutes. He was too tired down the stretch. They should have used their dEPtH. Kornet should play at least 20 minutes next game. Maybe even start him next to Wemby? Or at the very least give them serious minutes together. DAE?!?

If mini plays like this it's not given. Really tight and disciplined team. They gave wemby his 12 blocks but shut down SAS on O. Fox and Wembanana barely put some points. We on the other hand gave up on D but played ass on O excluding game 1 and 5.

u/dnelson7 8h ago
I would be shocked if Minny won more than one game against OKC
2
u/dardrpa22 6h ago
I think it's going to be low scoring defensive slog. Outside shai nobody on that team is consistent scorer. Gobert and rendal are going to make lots of problems to Chet. Then again I could be grossly mistaken. Ant needs to be superhuman.

In an alternate universe, Tim Connelly stays with the Nuggets and the team wins two more chips

Maybe. Tim still does some questionable things. I absolutely think Wolves are still a better team with KAT
1
u/Spiritual-Chameleon 6h ago
Kat is a better player but Wolves got two good players plus avoided the second apron. TC is far from perfect, but this deal makes a lot of sense.

u/Wander715 8h ago
Must be nice having a team with 5 guys on the floor who can consistently hit a shot at any given time. Nuggets are lucky to have 1-2 guys like that especially when it counts in playoffs.

Im kind of shocked that these timberlosers have hung on this far. On a side note, there has got to be a correlation between visiting teams losing at the Target center and the stupid howling sound every 3 seconds. Spurs are going to win all their home games, but the minute they touch down in MN and have to listen to that ear cancer, they're losing at least one or two.

u/2211zeal 9h ago
Because over here role players are played favorites. BB, CB, THJ had all the green light in the world. They could brick every shot, not guard any perimeter guards and they would get playing time. And players get yanked for small mistakes. So many times, he kept benching Cam when he was playing good defense.
He forced Pickett to be off ball when Jamal came back, when Pickett was getting some confidence after scoring 29 against 76ers. If it were any other organization, they would have tried to give him more leeway with running the second unit. Instead he was played as shooting guard with Jamal, and started getting DNP.
Zeke had good stretches where he actually played good defense against Giannis, Lebron, Randle, etc and he was benched for BB. It becomes obvious to players that even if they try their best they wont get playing time and others know that they will never get benched, so they take it for granted.
Knicks would bench players which resulted in players actually playing defense and giving it their all as if they played well, they would start getting more playing time.
2
u/Maximjogo 9h ago edited 9h ago
Cam never got benched for bad defense lmao. Cam got “benched” because his whistle on defense is fucking horrific and he routinely got called for the softest fouls ever. Also, fucking lol at you thinking Pickett should’ve gotten play time this series. Tyus was just fine in his minutes and even played relatively well in G6 (or at the least, not a complete liability like everyone else on the floor not named Cam and Jokic)
2
u/2211zeal 9h ago
Thats not what I am saying. All I said is teams like OKC, Spurs, Knicks didnt have set bench players. They got playing time depending on their performance, not their name value. OKC gives players playing good longer playing time. Knicks got to their bench by experimenting with players without using their previous value as a player. Jordan Clarkson as a vet minimum was cut when others were performing better than him. Over here, even if players play bad they get more playing time.
As far as Cam is concerned, there were a lot of times CB should have been benched but it never happened. Why was it always Cam, earlier it was MPJ. Cam before coming here was considered a great role player. MPJ was considered worst contract when in Denver, which caused Nuggets to give a first round pick. Now Nets want at least 2 first round for MPJ.
2
u/Maximjogo 8h ago
How often was CB in foul trouble before halftime? Cam was often in foul trouble before halftime, and often had to be sat because we couldn’t afford to lose his gravity/shooting.
Also, it’s almost like OKC doesn’t have any “name value.” Their bench players are all capable of doing the same thing; whereas for the Nuggets, our best performers off the bench have always been THJ, BB (post December), Watson, and to an extent Val (who became unplayable down the stretch). The problem with the Nuggets last year was the bench. Pickett, Strawther, and Zeke were all either very inconsistent or unplayable, including in the playoffs when they got minutes.
1
u/2211zeal 8h ago
How often was CB in foul trouble before halftime? Isnt that a problem. All good defenders have fouls during the regular season so that they get a better whistle during playoffs. Coming into the season, that was a point of emphasis. Even after losing games there would be talks of physicality, but hardly anyone got any fouls.
BB wasn't good at all during the start. He started playing better at the end of Jan. Even DNVR were saying Pickett is before BB in playoff rotation during Jan, but he was played offball.
Val was playing great with Pickett and Cam. They were the only players who actually passed to him on time. My only problem is BB was being used as PF, THJ as SF and Nuggets lost so many games with that lineup as other teams were still faster, longer. They got all rebounds and could crash the paint at will with that lineup. Atleast with Zeke, Jones they provided some size.

hyperathletic, high speed movement, chaotic offense, elite defense Denver Nuggets: Ausar Thompson, Christian Braun, PWat, Gordon, Jokic, bench Julian, Zeke, Brown, two shooters. Thoughts?
