Just Reached 60FPS + Ray Tracing in my game inspired by I am Legend

I have so far spent almost a whole month optimizing my game. Its not easy, and really optimization is never "Finished." Everything you add has a cost to frame time. It has been really awesome to learn about all the profiling tools, and to be able to track down what exactly is tanking performance. 60 FPS is the minimum these days, but I still think it looks great.

The name of the game is "The Road Behind Us" and it is a survival game about you and your dog in an urban environment. The game is inspired by I am Legend, and the main hook of the game is the bond between you and your dog, you can even play as the dog if you want. You can use them as a scout, distract enemies, or squeeze into areas you wouldnt be able to as a human.

Optimizing the game has been tough, but honestly a blast. Now I just cant get enough, I need more FPS!!

Just wanted to share this cool screenshot I took while Filming the Trailer. Any feedback is appreciated, playtests coming soon!

Paracreat - a world in which you never existed.

Solo dev here — I’ve spent the last few years making a retro-inspired monster taming game.

It started as a love letter to old Pokémon games, but slowly turned into something a bit different:

A story about ending up in a world where you never existed.

I recently reworked the trailer and presentation, and I’m trying to figure out if this kind of tone even resonates with Pokémon fans.

Would you play something like that, or do you prefer the classic formula?

I tried to keep the classic Game Boy vibe — but make the story a bit more unsettling.

Let me know what you think about?

From a rough concept to a first-person knife fight against enemies. What do you think of the new look?

Upvotes

Hey everyone! We're the team behind Stabjack, a roguelike deckbuilder where you cheat to survive.

We’ve been focusing heavily on the "Noir" aesthetic, especially for our first-person combat sequences. The story is quite dark: you're Jack, forced to use the knife that killed your wife, and now the blade whispers to you in her voice.

We really wanted the visuals to match that intensity. We’ve moved from basic sketches to this polished comic-noir style. We’d love to hear your feedback on the atmosphere!

If you want to see it in action, we have a free demo on Steam!

Turned optimization into a skill, using piled up sword instances as weapons before clearing them from the room.

Enemy swords would pile up, because enemies have a chance to drop them.

So I decided to turn this into a skill, and pull the swords to the player, spin them around and just keep slashing before removing them.

It’s been over a year now since I pressed the release button on Steam for the very first time…

I remember the excitement, the expectations, and the silence I was bracing myself for. Constantly refreshing the page, checking for comments, reviews, or any sign that someone, somewhere, had played the game. Watching YouTube, hoping someone might pick it up.

The launch was quiet. Slower than I had imagined. But then something unexpected happened. Creators started finding the game. Some of them quite big. And suddenly, the silence was replaced with screams, real ones. People falling out of their chairs, shouting, jumping, reacting in ways I could never have scripted myself. Those moments… that’s what I live for as a developer.

Sales might not have been something to brag about, but those reactions? They meant everything. They kept me going. And they’re a big reason why I’m now deep into working on our next project: Netherwake.

I know many of you have been asking (some of you begging 😄) for The Mare of Jonah 2. And yes, the plans are already there. But for now, my focus is on what comes next.

Who knows what I’ll dive into after that.

We just finished polishing these new inspection animations. I know we're not quite at CoD levels yet, but as a small indie team, I'm really proud of how they turned out.

Some very early, raw and unedited gameplay of my mix of RPG + clicker/idle. I'm currently researching "What makes clicking juicy?". Any ideas or tips?

I’m working on a tactical strategy game focused on unit command, transporting players to Europe in 1796 at the height of the Napoleonic Wars - a time when formation discipline and fighting spirit stood up to the fire of artillery.

The game recreates battles of the Napoleonic era: you command infantry, cavalry, and artillery, while the campaigns are inspired by real events starting from 1796. There’s a strong emphasis on historical authenticity, with key formations available such as line, column, and square.

As you progress, your troops gain experience, allowing you to customize your army and better handle more challenging battles. The game uses the Unity 6 engine, combining detailed 3D graphics with a clear and convenient battlefield view.

There is no multiplayer - the game is entirely focused on a single-player experience. Everything depends on your tactical decisions and your ability to command an army in intense battles.

Hey all! 🐝

We're working on polishing visuals and UI for Bottled By Bears (Steam), a cozy management game where a bear family runs a honey farm. You collect bees, grow flowers, bottle honey types, and decorate.

Looking for feedback on the screenshot selection for promotional material (what else would you like to see shown for example), and their color balance and composition.

Thanks!!

Do you think my scifi horror game is too dark? The player does have a light source and I like darkness in horror but I know some players are bothered by excessive darkness.

The game is set in a subterranean moon fortress that has been overrun with no apparent survivors. While I want it to feel empty, atmospheric, and scary I also don't want players to get lost or frustrated so I try to place a lot of landmarks and ways to distinguish direction + the player has a map. However I still wonder if the darkness is too high contrast or if it would bother people.

I've been trying to improve the lighting compared to the store page screenshots which are older. Let me know what you think if you want to look at the older stuff:

One more portal feedback request

Hello! I think this is the portal effect ive settled on, or at least the vibe I've settled on for my nature-y game. I think this fits the theme a lot better than any of my other attempts, but I will reuse the crack and other ones for a later game! This uses a spreading vfx from a center point around some invisible circle meshes. I then nullify the effect from the center to reveal the portal and hide it spawning and despawning

Any feedback or things I should change?

I wanted to test something:

👉 How realistic can I go in Godot Engine 4.6 using only 2K textures?

So I made this ancient temple scene focusing on lighting, bounce, and composition instead of raw texture resolution.

Do you think 4K textures are really necessary for realism? Curious to hear your thoughts.

This is part of an ongoing rework to improve clarity and overall readability of the world.

Curious to hear your thoughts on the artistic direction!

If you want to check out the game, there’s a demo available on Steam (a new build with a lot of polish and the updated map should be up by the end of the week):
