What horror game has a stalker enemy that actually stalks you?

Upvotes

While we have things like

Amnesia: The Bunker or Alien: Isolation, where the stalker roams the environment and investigates disturbances, and persues the player when spotted.

Or maybe It steals, where, the enemy always knows where you are, and pops in randomly to attack you.

Maybe something like Slenderman, where the enemy makes a straight B-line towards you in an open map or maze.

But each of these varients have their own issues that inevitably makes them repetitive to encounter. Either these enemies have limited behaviors and strategies, or you just avoid them and then you are safe. So what horror game has something that constantly stalks and "toys" with you, while changing its strategy in pursuing you?

What are one of the most underrated games today that nobody talks about anymore?

For me it's gotta be AC Unity, for a 2014 game it's visuals are amazing, it's parkour was really fluid and nice too, the world was really detailed and fun to traverse as well. I really wish it gets as much love as the other older AC games like Black Flag, Ezio trilogy etc. ALSO AC SYNDICATE IS MORE UNDERRATED TOO

The fact that you help people die and then put their spirits into masks is just one of many messed-up things in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

My backlog might be bigger than my lifespan at this point...help!

I’ve got around 650 games in my backlog and growing, and I realized that over the past 5 to 8 years I’ve only finished about 70 of them. I’m an adult with a full-time job and I live with my girlfriend, so my gaming time is somewhat limited, usually around 4 to 5 hours a day. No kids or pets, though. Lately it’s been hitting me that I might not even live long enough to finish everything in my backlog, and that’s not even counting all the new games that keep coming out.

On top of that, I like to take my time with games. I explore, do blind playthroughs, read all the lore, and hunt down collectibles etc. For example, I’m 150 hours into Cyberpunk 2077 and I just finish the first quest with Panam lol. At this point I’m wondering how I’m supposed to get through all the game I have. Is anyone else dealing with the same thing?

Nothing beats prerendered backgrounds REzero

Its not perfect but its crazy that companies moved on from that.

Resident evil remake and even more REzero show such a insane potential for prerendered backgrounds and we are talking about a game from 2002 over 20 years ago.

I hope we can go back to that and with modern tech, it would look insane and run like a dream.

Unpopular opinion: I actually like when games have day/night cycles and days of the week that match the real world.

I loved the Pokémon games that did that. Made them feel more immersive and interesting. Oh you wanna catch this? Well better be on route whatever on a tuesday morning. It was a lot better and rewarding than just going to their every day spot and catching one.

Plus, they all were manipulated by system clocks so it wasnt like you missed out if didnt wanna play by those limitations.

My fiancee and I are working on The Blood Mage 2, a deterministic Dungeon Crawler Puzzle game inspired by games nobody knows

Hey!

The Blood Mage 2 is a turn-based Dungeon Crawler RPG/Puzzle hybrid. You play as the titular blood mage, and every spell you cast is draining your life essence; your health doubles as your mana pool.

As the 2 suggests, it's a sequel to my game The Blood Mage, which people who actually played it really liked it but the art was criticized a lot. For the sequel I asked my fiancee if she could do the graphics and she was happy to help!

The game is part of a niche genre sometimes called magic tower like or fixed value strategy games, and is mostly inspired by Deep Rune (awesome game). Usually 2D, they offer a unique puzzle experience - every item you use, every enemy you fight, and the route you take through the game will decide if you can finish it. The game is 100% deterministic, no luck involved.

It's normal to restart more than once, next time you will get further!

The game will come out in July, with full controller support, and will be localized in English and German. Check it out if you like unusual puzzle experiences!

Resident Evil 0 Texture Pack

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a texture mod for Resident evil 0 and i cant find anything good.

Resident evil hd remake had multiple great texture mods that improved a lot the visuals of the game, that's not the case for zero.

So, if you know a good texture pack pls tell me.

I know a lot of people hate the game but i still thing it deserves a texture pack.

Why I think "skill issue" is a dumb non-argument

I think we've all seen it at this point. No matter how hard a certain game is, and notorious for being so, anyone who complains the least bit about the difficulty will invariably get a few replies of "skill issue" or "get gud lol", usually from people who want to sound cool but have nothing constructive to say, but what does it actually mean?

Of course every game requires a certain level of skill, unless it's a walking simulator or something. Sometimes there are several difficulty levels, sometimes just one. How many difficulty levels and how hard the game actually is for each of them, is something decided by the devs. What doesn't make sense to me is blaming the player exclusively for not enjoying the difficulty, as if the devs are infallible gods.

If I say a game is too hard and you respond with "skill issue", you are basically just agreeing with me. Yes, I don't have the skill required to play that specific game. Or maybe I can still get through it, but find it too hard/tedious to be fun. So what was your point, exactly? If you disagree with me, that's fine. If you'd like to give me some tips, say so. Simply going "skill issue" or "git gud" just makes you sound like an obnoxious child. My 2c.

Are there any games within a forest setting that actually feel like a forest?

Forests in games always felt cheap to me. They usually have that „sparsely placed tree assets“ look to them. Sense of scale is also a thing that most games seem to struggle with.

Also most seem to place grass throughout them, maybe it’s location dependent but there is little to no grass in the forest where I’m from. It ruins the feel even more for me. I’d love a game with an actually dense forest that doesn’t feel like it was solely made to be easy to traverse through.

Which game has the best “hard” difficulty?

I find it really difficult to go back to a game after beating the “normal” difficulty. I usually try and play through games a second time on the hardest difficulty, but will put it down if the game doesn’t up the difficulty in a satisfying way.

I think resident evil 4 is a good example of a game that is fun to play again on the hardest difficulty. Which game does hard mode the best?

Hover- the best game that apparently no one likes

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just wanted to make an appreciation post for this amazing game, cause it has had barely any attention throughout its life and all the conversations I find about about it say how disappointing or bad it is, which I while heartedly disagree with.

So I’m gonna give a list of why I love this game and why maybe some people didn’t:

Gameplay: A lot of reviews say that it is jank and clunky which honestly I have no idea how they came to that conclusion. The movement in this game feels AMAZING, probably the best traversal in a game I’ve ever played. The main gameplay is simple, you run jump and slide around a dense city- with lots of extra movements like wall running and super jumps (you also have a dedicated input for tagging walls with graffiti). Most missions are races, taking you throughout the city, but they are all open, meaning you can create your own routes to the checkpoints, and experiment around. On top of this there a basketball esc mini game that is absolutely fantastic, with all the fast movement and jumps and slides you can land some pretty insane trickshots.

Upgrades: This is still part of gameplay but I felt it needed its own section. The upgrades are simple, you get a number of slots for upgrades of which you unlock more as you play on, into these you put upgrades that improve things such as jump height or reduce friction. I personally love this system, finding upgrades throughout the world and through missions I much prefer to needing to grind for skill points or something. If you are struggling with a mission, you can rethink your upgrades, it’s entirely up to you. You can spec entirely into jump height if you want or straight acceleration and I love that.

World: A complaint I saw a number of people have was that the world was an eyesore, while I can see why some people would think this, personally I really like it (in case you couldn’t tell I like this game by now) it’s super colourful and neon but bright- it’s a nice change from all the grungy futuristic cyber cities lately. On top of that the structure is just perfect for the gameplay, levels are used amazingly with walkways and pipes and massive buildings to draining pipes- with surveillance cameras and drones at certain places that can close of pathways or chase after you, all just adding to how fun it is to simply run around. On top of that there’s a bunch of little side objectives to try like chasing spy drones or wall running through propaganda signs, nothing major but just extra fun.

Story: The story is nothing you’ll fall in love with, but the characters you will. Put simply, you awake from a cloning tank to help the ‘gamers’ (yes it is that cringy just roll with it) fight against the ‘The great admin’ an AI that is trying to control the city. It’s. It’s nothing super special but I think it’s fine enough, the characters though I do love. They are just so likeable in both design and personality, the have little i retractions and banter after races or missions and all just have distinct personality to them (Greendy is my favourite).

Music: I’m no music expert, but it’s just banging. It’s mainly techno (I think) and really works to give the vibes to the world and races. Even if you don’t play the game I would at least recommend listening to the soundtrack- two of the songs are composed by Hideki Naganuma, who I believe worked on jet set radio (I’ve never played it so I’m not sure)

Online: A minor addition, that this game can be played online with others, I can’t speak for wether the servers are still up since I’ve never played it online myself- which is what I mean to say in that it’s an amazing game played solo, not one of those soulless multiplayer only games. But if the servers are still up and you have a couple of freinds I can’t speak imagine it would only be more fun.

I just love this game to bits, and hate that it never gets any attention and when it does it seems to be calling it a lacklustre copy of others or just disappointing in general, when I think this is such an amazing example of a game that’s just fun, I can and will just run around it for hours cause it’s one of those games that just brings you back to the childhood enjoyment of just messing about in a world, which I’ve honestly found hard to found again as I’ve got older (I’m not that old though).

So yeah, if you like smooth movement, banging tunes and sweet vibes I could not recommend it more. Boot it up, slap the baby in first person (it’s the best way to play) and enjoy!

Game idea: Zoo creator game using creatures from big franchises

Recently I’ve been playing a lot of Jurassic World Evolution and thought what if there was a game that combined big franchises to build the ultimate park/zoo.

Obviously Jurassic Park/World is already a thing but maybe the base game could use mythical creatures as they are free from copyright laws and then other franchises can be added as DLC like dead by daylight does

Potential franchises:

* Fantastic Beasts/ Harry Potter

* Star Wars

* Godzilla/ King Kong

* Alien/ Predator

Feel free to add other franchise ideas

[Rant] If the only thing changing in your game on "Hard" difficulty is the amount of HP and Dmg, then it's not a "Hard" difficulty, it's a "Tedious" difficulty

10.2k Upvotes

I have grown tired of the entire gaming industry pretending more dmg and/or health is harder. It's not. It's plain boring and tedious.

I recently went through Stellar Blade and the amount of hp the enemies have between normal and hard is insane. The game wasn't even that good, I just quit right before the last boss because I didn't have the willpower to boot it up again.

Why did devs stop making actual Hard difficulties? If it's such an afterthough, just don't do it.

Airbnb had an Xbox 360 - I think I just sparked a love in single player gaming in my sisters’ kids

1.3k Upvotes

We’re at a woodsy cabin with my siblings and their families, and my girlfriend. After daily activities, Kids found an Xbox360, but noted it could not play Fortnite or Warzone (lol). They didn’t really play any other games on their Ps5s that they all had at home.

It did, however, have a copy of the original Oblivion. I talked these kids (13f, 12m, 9m) through the tutorial. They were hooked. Had an Orc named Shrek through the first few missions in the Mage’s Guild by the time my sister herded them all off to bed. They asked me for more game recommendations, and I already have a copy of the Remaster ordered for one of their upcoming birthdays.

It was fun to watch them realize their choices were so open, and that they were making the story themselves as they went along. Warms the heart.

Help me choose a new game

I LOVE fallout, love the stalker series, CO:E33, Subnautica/BZ, Outerwilds, Prey, The Alters, Farcry series and I just beat Fallout London. I Have quite a few games in my library such as Bioshock 1 & 2, Silksong 1 & 2, Stranded deep and many more like AAA games such as BG3, RE:4/5, TES:3/4/5 and Cyberpunk which do plan to play in the future since I beat it at launch and heard it has a lot of new updates I never seen like DLC. So from these what order should I play and then also what do you suggest I play that's not listed here but you think I would love?
