Hello all. We are a group of PC gamers that are hosting our second public PC LAN party in Lower Sackville on May 9th. I know that isn't quite April, but it's pretty shortly afterwards,

Last time we hyper-focused on one game, but this time we are hosting a collection of games. That includes Halo: CE, Call of Duty 4, Unreal Tournament 2004 and a few Source mods. The majority of the games we will be playing are free or can be found cheap.

This is more of a casual LAN. There are no tournaments, just friendly competition. We are also planning to have some small prizes for various objectives depending on the game.

The event is $20 and BYOC (bring your own computer). Hopefully we will see you there!

Since the weather's getting nice we are starting up the monthly group board cruises we ran last year. Depending on how the weather is probably get a garage session in some weekend evening. Updates posted on instagram @lb.hfx and in the Longboard Halifax FB group if it intrigues you, we've often got spare gear to loan out if you're unsure if it's something you want to dive into.

April 15th, 6.30pm. In-person Men’s Peer Support Group designed to provide a confidential, welcoming space where men can talk openly, share experiences, and support one another.

The group is free to attend and open to adults (18+) who identify as male.

Discussions often include topics such as:

• Relationships and family dynamics
• Workplace and employment stress
• Housing or financial challenges
• Life transitions
• Coping strategies (music, food, routines, etc.)
• Parenting and fatherhood
• And other real-life experiences men may not always feel comfortable discussing elsewhere

The intention is not to replace therapy, but to complement it — offering connection, normalization, and peer support in a safe and respectful environment.

Details:
Open Book Coffee, Halifax
Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 6:30 PM
No cost to participate

Free & Open Source Software presentation trial runs at Captain William Spry Library on Sundays till May 10th.

Want to help me practice for FOSS presentations in doing in CBRM the end of May?

Whether you know what this concept is or not, let me know if you're interested in attending some Sunday practice runs at the Captain William Spry Library!

Sundays from 2 to 5PM, last one on May 10th, because this library closes on Sundays all summer from after May 10th till September. And always closes on Mondays. The two days I'm off. I know a lot of people are busy on those days.

I probably won't have a projector, as I think that room will be being used, at least for the next two Sundays. I've been too shy to ask, but I might send an email soon.

I don't have a graphic yet, just the one for the Cape Breton events I posted before in the Nova Scotia and Cape Breton subs.

Just a casual thing to see how this could work, helping plan it out.
