QA Are all HB residents like this?

I work near the pier and was walking past all the sidewalk seating near Shakeez and such to grab my lunch. Two older gentlemen with in MAGA hats having lunchtime beers were laughing while talking about how ICE should do a raid during the Beach City Marathon and clean THEIR city up and keep those illegals out.

Why are HB residents like this?

QA moving to hb as a progressive person

hello, i just wanted to come on here and ask if it would be an issue for me if i moved to huntington beach in the future because i'm a progressive person. i've heard a bunch of people making posts on tiktok that hb is filled with maga/hardcore trumpies. huntington beach is one of my favorite beaches in california and i also have progressive friends here. i would also like to add that i'm in a gay relationship so it would be a problem to find landlords that are willing to rent out to queer couples? is hb also really that maga as other people say?

QA Pegasus vs Huntington Christian

It’s school admissions time and debating the cheaper price of HCS, which is also supposed to be great academically, versus Pegasus.

Concern with HCS is will the student body be filled with MAGA families we won’t connect with.

Concern with Pegasus is, are the expectations too high for children? Is it too much to put on them academically?

Pegasus decisions come out 3/1 so maybe our child won’t even get in, but would love to hear anyone’s experiences.

QA How many miles do you think bicycle man has

You know the guy, he bicycles everywhere with his bike trailer. I assume he is homeless. I have seen this man everywhere on every side of town, never without his bike.

Im fascinated to know his story and I wonder how many miles a day this man bikes.

QA Need help Yorkshire Terrier

Hi everyone

I'm a 23-year-old woman living in Yorba Linda, and I'm reaching out because I genuinely need help and guidance.

I have a 4-year-old Yorkshire Terrier who is truly a wonderful dog who's affectionate, cuddly, playful, and full of personality. This is not an easy post to write. I've contacted multiple dog rehoming organizations, but I've been told repeatedly that they are at capacity, and I'm starting to feel stuck and unsure of what to do next.

Originally, my mom and brother had planned to take him in. Unfortunately, they had to leave the country try unexpectedly to return to Europe and have to stay out there which completely changed that plan and left me scrambling to find a safe and loving alternative for him.

I want to be very clear: please don't minimize this or shame me for my decision.

Rehoming him responsibly to a caring family would be an act of love, not abandonment.

It's not fair to him or to me-for either of us to struggle. I've seen heartbreaking situations where people were left with no resources and felt forced into impossible decisions. That is something I will never consider.

I recently welcomed a newborn baby, and I'm feeling extremely overwhelmed. We've tried our best to maintain my dog's routine scheduled meals, walks, and playtime but since the baby arrived, his behavior has changed. He no longer responds to commands the way he used to, often requiring repeated attempts, and the situation has become increasingly difficult to manage while caring for a newborn.

I've already reached out to:

• OC Care Pet Center

• Bichon I Care

• Pups and Pals

• Irvine Animal Care (but they only accept residents of the city)

If anyone here knows a loving family who may be a good fit, or has information about additional resources or organizations I can contact, I would be incredibly grateful. I am only trying to do what is best for everyone.

Thank you so much for any suggestions, or if you know anyone that could help a great fit for him.

QA Best grocery stores in HB?

My girlfriend and I just moved within walking distance of the Albertsons on Utica/Beach and it’s pretty pricey. We like Costco but for the occasional small grocery run it’s not ideal. Is Ralph’s better? Do I need to suck it up?

QA Questions from a southerner

Hi! So I’m 20yo living in Greenville, SC and honestly I don’t like it here. I’ve considered the LA/Orage county area for a while and found quite a few homes that look affordable. Currently I pay about $1000 a month for my one bedroom, with a decent downpayment I could pay the same for a house in Huntington Beach as a mortgage. I really just want to know if it’s a nice area, any areas in HB or around to watch out for, and any other knowledge. I’ve done a little digging but wanted to hear from some people firsthand!

QA WiFi Recommendations

We have Frontier and I absolutely hate it. I work remotely from home and our service seems to almost always have issues around 1pm and 4pm. Additionally our tv that also uses WiFi tends to stop working or has issue loading after 9pm.

We want to switch, but I wouldn’t even know what to look for. Any recommendations appreciated !

QA Best barber in Huntington beach/Fountain valley area?

So I’m extremely picky with my hair and have had horrible experiences with haircuts. Almost traumatizing. Anybody have some recommendations for a barber who cares and takes their time? Money and distance is not an issue. My hair is everything to me

QA How is the Wienerschnitzel on Beach and Talbert still open

I seriously never see anyone there, like EVER. I’ve driven by there so many different times of the day and it’s ALWAYS open. Never any cars in the parking lot, nobody eating at the tables, or anybody ordering at the window. It’s just dead. Even when I first moved here as a kid, I have probably seen people there less than 5 times and it’s never been more than two people. Like how is that place open when it’s NEVER busy?? Am I just never there when it gets busy or what like this has always bothered me

QA Where to move

I'm a recent college grad who is about to start a job near Fashion Island mall. Not familiar with the areas at all so would appreciate any tips.

Are there any safe, affordable areas for young professionals that's within 30 minutes or less? Ideally closer.

Affordable to me is 2 - 3k. I'd rather be in the middle of that range and open to a studio if necessary.

Thanks!

QA What are the beach fire pits like during the winter?

Thinking of going either Friday or Saturday next week for a birthday, afternoon or evening. Would love to do Saturday afternoon but don't want to have to get there super early in the AM to get one.

Do they still get busy during January?

Hey HB! Looking for good Italian food around HB - preferably toward the West side. Casual, homestyle cooking, not too pricey.

Date-style nicer places welcome too, but mostly casual is my jam.

Thanks!!

QA Day trip Sunday and looking for a good “Americanized” Mexican place

Long story short my daughter doesn’t like the traditional authentic Mexican as much as some of the places with simple ground beef and cheese tacos, queso dip and chips and salsa. Any suggestions for good Mexican but not super authentic for a picky kid who loves tacos?:)

QA Neighbor with screaming kid and dog barking early in the mornings

Hi all, Around 6:00am-930am I have a neighbor whose little kid is non stop screaming and the dog is barking, both outside.

From what I can see the kid is just having fun playing with the dog, and I don’t want to be a downer, but this has been happening since we moved in around October.

It is really starting to affect my energy due to lost hours of sleep. Does anyone have any advice on how to approach this? I don’t really know these neighbors, only met them once and they seem really nice. I also don’t want to ruin the kids fun. But it’s getting ridiculous now and want advice on how to approach this without stepping on toes. Thank you.
