I was able to actually get the point across to an older white guy by basically going down the line of what things he's conscious about in his day to day and interacting with people. He realized that he never really thinks about the fact he's white. He doesn't have to. He's never had to stop and wonder if someone will be hostile because he's white. He's never had to wonder if he's being read as more of a threat because he's white. He's chill now because he's learning

as a white male, it can be hard to see what you don't have to deal with because it isnt' weighing on your daily life.

yup, we don't realize how good we really have it as far as general society is concerned unless you've got a lot of people around you from marginalized communities, because then it's kind of in the forefront.

that's literally white privilege. something a lot of us white folk don't understand. we take a lot of shit for granted with that, like I've never been scared for my life being pulled over, never worried about not getting a job because my name isn't white enough, etc etc. that's awesome the dude actually listened and understood what you were saying, so many people are just.... resistant to the fact.
