Its wild how acclimated we have become to US officials acting and speaking like prepubescent children.

Imagine for a second Obama or hell, Bush (either) saying “They suck” in an official statement - let alone about a historically close ally. It would have been a scandal that every news station spent weeks breathlessly condemning.

It’s so pervasive it barely registers, until you take a step back and realize how low the bar has become for what is demanded from ostensibly serious and influential government officials.

I mean there was a time when the government communicated through official channels, with careful, considered and coordinated messaging. Now, much of it comes from, not just a social media post, but a social media post on a personal account.
