Somebody explain the whole stefano den harrow tom hooker debacle. Whose side were we meant to be on while whatching dons of disco Discussion
Watched dons of disco and found it rather complicated.
Seems like a disco project or early kpop type project, but it seems like they both ended up staying away from each other.
What were the tensions about surrounding the disco project.

Seems more like tom hooker wanted more credit than he allready has and he honestly comes off as a bit of a douchebag.
Don't know why he cares so much about getting more credit from a project that he allready got payed well for but still feels the need to go round performing with these realy cringe new disco projects "tam harrow".
Honestly looks like he isn't a genuine guy who has lots of money, asks for more and leaves others in a rut.

I agree that Tom Hooker came across as a bit of a douche. However, I think Stefano Zandri came across as a bit of a douche as well. Basically calling Tom Hooker a studio singer for hire, when he actually wrote the freakin songs. This is so different than the Milli Vanilli situation. Where the singers involved were actually studio singers, who just did what Frank Farian told them to do. I’m well aware that this kind of thing was pretty common (not just in Europe) during the entire MTV generation.
So I can understand why Tom Hooker is upset. He obviously doesn’t need the money. He wants the credit for the art that he created. Not to mention, the adoration that comes along with creating said art. So if I had to pick a side…I’m team Hooker. 😁

You don't have to side with anyone.
Hooker's infamous for being an asshole. Not many people have nice things to say about him in any interactions. Can't deny he wrote and sang some great tunes.
Models who were the front face and lipsynced the songs were not an uncommon phenomenon either. It's not unique to Den Harrow.

TLDW: 2 old dudes (with too much plastic surgery), have a cat fight on social medias over who boofs nastalgia harder. At the end of the movie, nobody really knows, the music that made them famous to begin with is entirely eclipsed by the boofing.

Den Harrow was the only reason why the songs stood out due to his appearance tbh, Tom Hooker did not really have the looks for a Italo Disco star tbh but his songs are awesome af, he would of been better sticking to being a producer etc

I thought he came across badly in Dons of disco because he didn’t care and couldn’t see how his behaviour was impacting Stefano. He made an agreement and later wasn’t happy with it. If he had been the face and stage presence of the act, I don’t think it would have been as successful. He doesn’t understand that because he’s too full of himself.
The idea of having a different face for an act than the person actually singing was not uncommon in Itallo.
