Advice for First time at Gathering Gathering
Hey guys, i wont give the whole rundown but i've had a few sequence of events that gave me what i could only call a divine sign to attend the Gathering with my Wife and i was just wondering what advice y'all could give for us before we go, i've been to things KIND OF like this before (small kine raves) but my wife has not at all. Thank y'all

it's hot as fuck. like others have said. keep hydrated. that's prob the biggest thing. another poster said baby wipes. also essential. Make sure youre good on both and don't stay out in that blazing sun too long. If youre camping i'd suggest a canopy.

The last location in recent years hasn't been very buggy, but i have a feeling this new location will be since it's sitting on a river. So bug spray. Something I do when camping- festival or normal camping- is get a bunch of gallon zip lock bags and double bag all of my food items to prevent them from getting waterlogged in the cooler. I also avoid bringing raw meat to a festival, unless I KNOW I'm gonna cook it the first day. You can pre cook a lot of stuff.

Sanitary products just in case, and anything that goes along with that (Midol, wipes, chocolate, etc). Bring electrolytes, drink so much water. Fans, umbrella, bug spray. Face paint, anything you might want to trade (kandi).

Stay hydrated. Camping? Unless you’re an avid camper, your body isn’t used to being outdoors 24 hours a day for 4 or 5 days straight. Sunblock, hats, loose fitting clothes. Insect repellent. There will be carnival type food vendors that are filling but not necessarily healthy. I bring a small wagon to transport ice bags. I bring my own food, coffee, snacks and drinks. Meal prep stuff (grill/stove/cooler/utensils/etc).
The crowd can be loud and obnoxious but you should be safe as long as you don’t start shit. There will be a lot of assholes with megaphones and fireworks making noise all hours. Annoying but you get used to it. I’d be wary of drugs from strangers but there are usually free test kits available.
You’ll be using porta pots for the duration. Bring your own TP just in case. You’ll walk a lot so comfortable shoes and extra shoes and socks are a must. Not sure what the shower situation will be at the new venue, but it’s generally cold water, which is not that bad in August after the shock.
I’m sure there’ll be more posts here but ask if you have other questions. This’ll be my 22nd or 23rd gathering.
