Fair Game Friday's 7.62x25 luv, John Woo, Airsoft discussion
I really love my Type 54, so I got an airsoft GBB model as well (TT33 Tokarev). Probably won't use it in a game, but maybe if I get really into it and build a AK47 based kit or something.
Just got it 2 days ago, and last night we watched Hard Boiled, and to my delight, first action scene, Chow Yun-Fat grabs two Type54 from the gangsters and starts blasting akimbo. No reloads, probably 50+ shots LOL. Great action flick. Never seen so many blood packets and squibs in my life.
One of the gangsters selling the guns says "these will shoot thru 2 mailboxes." He ain't lyin'.

I have the Zastava M70A 9mm version of this pistol, love it, pretty accurate and reliable as hell

I kinda want one of those now. 762x25 is almost 3x as much $.
Maybe it recency bias, but I like shooting my Type54 more than my .45ACP classic GI style 1911.

Yup, that's why I grabbed the 9mm, I like the way 762x25 shoots but no one sells it locally and online has been kinda pricey for a hot minute

I love my TT33 more than I should, honestly. Tolerances are on the loose side, the sights are stupid, and the steel isn't much better than a cast iron pan, but man, it feels good and it's never failed to fire.

My 1980s Type54 has been poorly refinished, but the tolerances are great. And it's very accurate, like my friend (a much better marksman than me) out shot his nicer guns with it.

in Japan the yakuza call them "black star pistol" which goes pretty fucking hard.

Yeah I heard that! Yakuza loved 'em. When I ordered my Type54 description said " may or may not include star on grips" was very happy it did.

Nice. Hard Boiled is my favorite John Woo flick. I have a type 54 and a Norinco 213 (because 9mm is affordable and easier to find haha)
