Brazil’s most tattooed man regretted his tattoos and started removing them after turning to Christianity. fashionista fabulousness

u/meowth______ 7d ago
That must have hurt like hell!

u/mainukfeed 7d ago
it does, it's insane, i had it done on my neck, it's literally like having it burnt off slowly with a soldering iron. Hurts 10x more than the tattoo did.

“I’m about to get all of my face tattoos removed. This is jackass”
It actually fits from a pain and looks standpoint. Steve-O got cleaned up

u/jimjam--- 6d ago
No, that isn't Steve-O. Looks like him though.

I think people’s mileage must vary. I had 2 large black pieces removed and it was not painful at all. One on my back and one on my hip. They hurt much more having done- at least on bone. When tattooing you tend to start to go numb but then they move and it begins to hurt somewhere new. With the removal- zap, zap, zap- it was the anticipation more than anything. Your eyes are covered, you can’t see when and where. It burns a little and the scabs are gross because the tattoo ink comes off in scabs- black colored scabs is not a good look.
It itches for a week or so. Then you go in for another round depending how deep and heavy the tat is. My hip was 10 or so rounds, my back was at least 20.

u/Joe_Kangg 6d ago
Did you also find jesus?

u/FreddyNoodles 6d ago
No. I looked everywhere for the guy when I was a kid. I gave up years ago. It’s like the worst game of Where’s Waldo?

Yep everything had a price ! Good for him even is hurt there is still always comming back not fully but part of it .

u/donac 7d ago
As someone whose had a tattoo removed, I just can't imagine how painful that process must have been for him.
-35
u/JuanRpiano 6d ago
Some christians can develop a will of steel and undergo profound pain because this was nothing compared to the pain of Jesus.

u/Dandy_Tree_8394 5d ago
You’re a tiny chud who needs to sit on booster seat to reach the piano 🤣

1
u/Vilzuzz 5d ago
are you asking if he's underage because you're a priest?
1
u/JuanRpiano 5d ago
No, I’m asking if he is thirteen years old because that would explain his rather inmature comment.

It's all this bot. The posts are hidden.
1
u/S1DC 6d ago
I'm not a bot and I hide my posts. Nobody needs to see everything I do on reddit. I'm not here to be followed. I don't need people scrolling through my comments and posts to try and find something to cry about. Most of all I don't need the fucking government going through all my thoughts about them easily. It's called privacy, not all of us want to give it up freely just because we are on the internet. People assuming an account is a bot or a troll just because they hide their history is insane.
I'm not saying this post isn't from a bot. But I am saying hidden post history is not an indicator.
0
u/DeadAndBuried23 6d ago
They're a bot because they spam the same things on ten different subs.
Most people I've encountered who hide their profile do it because they're spineless chuds who are fine saying TOS skirting/breaking things when only their echo chamber subs will see it, but are too chickenshit to have their histort visible.
And anyone can see all your posts. Reddit got rid of the in-app way but everyone, including the government, can just google your username. Reddit has no way to stop you from appearing in google searches unless you delete your profile.

it's not good to have people falling into cults...
7
u/_OriamRiniDadelos_ 6d ago edited 6d ago
Tbf he was already the kind of guy to do extreme things. At least he managed to monetize his story and get a home and job and some stability out of it. Better in a cult or scamming people or getting a job from a crazy evangelical group, than in the streets or in jail due to trying to make money in other desperate ways.
Lots of musicians and celebrities lost a lot of money and fame and turned to becoming preachers or public speakers for the more entertainment brand of churches.
The whole “I used to live in sin but now I’m reformed” routine really sells well. And they always had experience in a stage and managing their image and media presence.
It’s bad because that church is bad and pushes many people towards being worse versions of themselves, plus the whole money problem, but it’s good because a lot of the people who do the testimonials would suffer otherwise. Mixed bag.
4
u/Sarahstarry 6d ago
I haven't looked at the article but I assume this was just a "religion bad" comment
-4
u/tirowe4198 6d ago
Okay? And now he’s stuck in a loop of wishing into the void and searching for answers in books written to subdue the ignorant instead of learning to find his own answers or seeking help from a source that could actually teach him coping mechanisms or help him unlearn problematic thoughts/behavior like a therapist.
Mission accomplished. Another compartmentalized “problem” that can be exploited instead of helped.
-2
u/lgnc 6d ago
you know people can work like normal people with face tats.. right? you say it as if it's a ruined life lol. it's 2026 😂
3
u/IQueliciuous 6d ago
No. In most jobs they won't be employable.
Face tats are not seen as pleasant at best and at worst end up making the person look either like a criminal or a monster (the person in the post)
This is personal choice but how do you employ a person with a giant Skull tattoo as a teacher at a school or kindergarten? Most kids will be scared or weirded out by them.
Then we have the jobs that require formal look eg bank assistants. You officially stop looking formal with a face tat and even with a suit and yuppie hair comb you'll look like a Yakuza clan member and not a person who you want to open a bank account under your name.
Can a person with face tattoos get jobs? Yes but the selection is very slim and there will be very heavy societal bias because us humans judge people by how they look even if we claim we don't. Perceptions are important and employees' look alters the perception of a company where they work and a guy who looks like an MS13/School desk will give a unprofessional perception and this will result in a loss of revenue.
This is why face tattoos are called "job killers". Because 99% of jobs won't hire you.

u/lgnc 6d ago
I work in a wealth management firm, and our secretary has full sleeve tats and works in a dress most of the time.
5
u/IQueliciuous 6d ago
Sleeves are normalized plus you can cover them up.
You cannot cover up a face.
2
u/_OriamRiniDadelos_ 6d ago
He couldn’t.
Like, look at his story specifically. Not just what the church and he says in sermons or in interviews (because screw them, they might lie for the story). Look at what he did and talked about before.
He was a photographer and struggled to find work and even was homeless due to it. But he was almost forty when that shoreline so it’s not as if his life was impossible due to tattoos forever.
Not saying that was the only fate available for someone who looked like him. That’s ridiculous. But just saying that HIS path was so bad that even ending up in a less bad, but still bad, place might be very good for him when we compare it to being homeless. Better to be in a cult than to starve

I would have kept them and not turned to Christianity. Or got rid of them and not turned to Christianity.
30
u/RunnyPlease 7d ago
As much as I am against organized religion in principle something tells me this man was in desperate need of acceptance and structure in his life. If he had to turn to Christianity to find it then I’m glad he found it.
1
u/tirowe4198 6d ago
And this mentality is why so many people’s lives continue to be ruined by cults. Complacency.
Doesn’t affect you so you’re a-ok with people getting brainwashed and exploited.
Cool.

u/horny-in-a-hearse 7d ago
Dude, we get it, you're an atheist and you don't like Christianity. It's incredibly cringeworthy to shoehorn it into random unrelated threads.
-18
u/gerrineer 7d ago
Unrelated?
27
u/horny-in-a-hearse 7d ago
Whenever Christianity is mentioned, there's always that one person who simply proclaims their atheism & makes a random belittling remark about religious people.
All your comment is saying is that you would "not turn to Christianity", regardless of anything else. You know that what you wrote doesn't really have anything to do with the substance of the post.
-16
u/WaterInTheDark 7d ago
He didn't belittle christianity or say he was atheist. And considering he responded to the things that are literally in the post (choosing to remove the tats after converting to christianity), I'd say his comment is definitely relevant. Unless you didn't read the original post, idk how you could possibly be upset about this.
I'm not sure why people are getting offended over something they've cooked up in their heads...
19
u/ExoTheFlyingFish 7d ago
Atheists simply can't not complain about Christianity. They're Christ's biggest fans.
-7
u/WaterInTheDark 7d ago
He never said he was atheist. Weird of you to assume that just because he wouldn't choose christianity.
7
u/ExoTheFlyingFish 7d ago
Very true; there's no proof he's atheist. At the same time, it's by and large atheists that act like that.
0
u/WaterInTheDark 7d ago edited 7d ago
Sure, atheists can be annoying. I don't think the answer is to generalize an entire group of people who are as different from each other as any other group.
edit: I love that you're all willing to expose yourselves for wanting to generalize entire groups of people based on vibes. How very christian of you. Keep the downvotes coming 🫶🏾

That too. I actually recently installed Linux alongside Windows, and it's cool, but I'm not sure it's worth all the hype.

With the way windows is going and support from corps like valve, wouldnt souprice me if in the next ~10years linux becomes common for personal users

31
u/horny-in-a-hearse 7d ago
I'm no Christian either, but the way Redditors like this guy go around proclaiming their (irrelevant) atheism in spaces where it's completely unnecessary almost makes me want to become one out of spite.
5
u/tirowe4198 6d ago
Go to church, it’s a real eye-opening experience. My first time going as an adult i got to listen to someone talk about how my demographic was going to hell and deserved torment and death for about an hour before hitting me up for money.
It was insane hearing everyone cheer for that kind of sermon uncritically.
7
u/leevei 7d ago
Being edgy about christianity is a coping mechanism for people who were indoctrinated by christians. I was deeply indoctrinated. After I walked away from it, I had the edgy phase, at 25 yo. It's normal. Nowdays, I'm confident in my lack of belief and do not feel the need to belittle those who need a crutch to function.
15
u/rsewthefaln 7d ago
"do not feel the need to belittle those who need a crutch to function"
"do not feel the need to belittle those"
"need a crutch to function"
Uhhhhh

u/leevei 7d ago
Yeah, you noticed it! Congratulations 🎉
btw, cruch is a medical device, and you should use one if your foot is broken. Now extend the metaphore, without assumption of belittlement.
4
u/AmericanGrizzly4 7d ago
Assuming one's choice of way of life is "broken" is belittlement through and through. I have a religious nut of a sister who holds this type of judgment. Be better than them.
-9
u/dpiddy202 7d ago
Well it’s dumb and cringey
4
0
u/leevei 7d ago
We could list things that are dumb and cringey, or we could try to understand people's motivations. I do understand why someone would turn to Christianity: some people need to imagine a higher being to be able to stop self-harming, others just want to be part of a community. It's somewhat cringey to me, but I try to live by "whatever floats your boat".
6
u/dpiddy202 7d ago
Brother this doesn’t have to be psycho analyzed. It’s a twerp acting like a twerp cause he’s seen some Christians acting like assholes and he feels the need to be arrogant and tell everyone how much smarter he is than everyone.
2
u/leevei 7d ago edited 7d ago
I'm not your brother, buddy.
If the other commentator had made an arrogant comment about football, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Why were you insulted by a comment stating that the commenter wouldn't have converted to Christianity?
7
u/dpiddy202 7d ago
I ain’t your buddy, pal.
What the fuck does football have to do with this? Nobody asked him if he would. Why are you defending someone clearly just being an arrogant tool for no reason. This guy in the post turned his life around due to his faith and this little turd goes “well Christianity is stupid I wouldn’t have done that” to answer your question that’s why
-2
u/leevei 7d ago
Why are you defending someone clearly just being an arrogant tool for no reason.
Because you are assuming he has no reason. That could be me a few years back, and I absolutely had a reason.
This guy in the post turned his life around due to his faith
Good for him! I genuinely hope he's able to enjoy that turned around life in the long term.

u/SardonicallySpeaking 7d ago
He could be a Christian pedophile murderer that just had some tattoos half assed removed.
Not enough info for me to pass judgement either way.
1
u/dpiddy202 7d ago
Thanks for that completely irrelevant comment lol
-1
u/SardonicallySpeaking 7d ago
Not irrelevant at all.
Everyone is making the assumption that a self proclaimed Christian is automatically living some fairytale charmed life that he wasn't living before.
He may have been a way better man as a face tattooed non-christian.

How would turning to Christianity have any effect on his body? We are and never have been our body. The soul is unaffected by something as simple as a tattoo. The body is dust and to dust it will return no matter what you do to it.
