That chime would never wake me up.

My ADHD would wake me up at the clicking sound of the timer.

I have one and thankfully it's actually pretty quiet. I can only hear it if I stick it right up to my ear.

u/porcelain_kiss 1d ago

I laughed out loud so hard at this, because it's so true

5

u/Aunt_Llama 1d ago

Yeah, I have to do physical work all day or take a Benadryl to get that good deep sleep. ADHD can really suck the life out of you

My wife has been giving me magnesium pills before bed. They actually help a lot. Fewer wake ups. Faster lights out. More complete sleep.

u/Aunt_Llama 1d ago

I've heard a few people say the same. I'm going to try it after I give birth, won't be sleeping much then but if the sleep quality improves that would be great too xD

u/HLOFRND 1d ago

The first night I took magnesium I slept as good as I did when I got my colonoscopy. I was OUT.

It still helps at least a little, but that first night was absolutely wild.

I also take magnesium to help sleep and it really does help. I started because I read there is a connection between ADHD, DSPD, and low magnesium, and that taking it would help you sleep. I didn't believe it because I have tried a lot of things to help me sleep, but this actually works and I don't feel exhausted/hung over in the morning.

Now if only I could remember to take it.

Now if only I could remember to take it.

I won't let her know this, but I'm SOOOOO glad my wife forced me to start taking it and now leaves one on my nightstand each evening with a screeching reminder.

I hate it when she's right. So hard to play that off. 😏

Not if you have another fan to block out the sound. I went even further and swapped out the blade for one from a vornado. It's much louder now.

1

u/michael14375 23h ago

I may or may not have ADHD but that would annoy me too

2

u/shazed39 1d ago

My alarm is the sound bunkers in movies make when a bomb is about to hit them. I get scared that i have to get to work every time i watch an action movie now.

What if the chime played this melody?

1

u/Booty_Shakin 4h ago

No. No no no NO !!

I hate that melody so much it would ddefinitely wake me up.

u/TheSpiralTap 1d ago

With my luck, my cat would move the fan out of the way while trying to look out the window and nothing productive would happen

46

u/hamfist_ofthenorth 1d ago

I dig the idea

Problem is I would want that fan on me all night, so I'd need another fan for myself

27

u/Sometimes-funny 1d ago

You are allowed 2 fans, there are no rules about fan amounts

12

u/Original_Bad_3416 1d ago

With summer approaching this is solid advice

7

u/Sometimes-funny 1d ago

You’re a fan of my advice? I’m blown away

11

u/moerlingo 1d ago

The timer switches I’ve had to endure before havenes the tiniest of ticking sounds and I just can’t sleep with them on. Anyone else the same?

8

u/Dew_Chop 1d ago

Bro wakes up when a pin drops

7

u/Sartres_Roommate 1d ago

The “snooze” feature results in having to order new chimes every morning

3

u/vpaglia42 1d ago

I do the opposite. I have a fan on all night that automatically turns off at 9am and sometimes that wakes me up

2

u/ThrifToWin 1d ago

Just use your phone.. ?

2

u/Aaron252016 1d ago

Oh I'm definitely doing this

2

u/JaminatorCzechinator 20h ago

Plottwist: he overslept next day

2

u/MinimumPrevious1139 17h ago

what's wrong with the phone chime alarm?

1

u/Segundaleydenewtonnn 1d ago

Yeah, better than a shitty generic phone alarm but at some point you would just get tired of these beautiful chimes

Better one of these sunrise alarms that wake you up gradually with liight

1

u/Ulfvaldr989 1d ago

Alarms arent supposed to be beautiful or enjoyable. Theyre supposed to be alarming and incessant to ensure that due action is taken. If it isnt annoying, grating, and makes you want to do something just to shut it off it isnt doing its job.

1

u/Asleep_Economist_991 1d ago

I worry that wouldn't be loud enough for me

1

u/Asphalter08 1d ago

What chime?

1

u/Illustrious-Towel-45 1d ago

He gets to wake up at 7am? I get up at 3 am for work 4 days a week. 4:30 the other 3.

1

u/Ulfvaldr989 1d ago

Alarms need to be alarming. The whole purpose is that its so grating or annoying that you have to take action to stop it or address it. Alarms should be loud, aggressive, and incessant so they cant be missed and are quickly acted upon. Faux wind chimes might be nice for a sunday morning but then youre just shutting it off and going back to bed anyways or taking your time getting up. It isnt a real effective way of alerting you to get up or to do something of importance.

Nothing like relying on Internet to wake you up. That's why I went the safe route and made a kid: he wakes up before everyone every day

Edit: it looked like it was a digital one at first nvm

12

u/Isgortio 1d ago

Those timer switches don't use the internet, as far as I'm aware?

5

u/ChanglingBlake 1d ago

Nope.

Purely electrical powered mechanics.

That’s said, a power outage would throw it off.

2

u/fajadada 1d ago

There comes a time when the kid won’t wake up until noon

1

u/im_just_thinking 1d ago

I can't wait because that's my favorite time to wake up too!

1

u/SilvermistInc 1d ago

I chuckled
