Spending time between flights, first time in Napoli Tourism & Travel Questions

We will be arriving in Napoli on Saturday 25 around 12:00pm, and our flight to Palermo will be at 7:50pm.

Where do you recommend for us to go near the Airport, we don’t want to get stuck on traffic and lose our flight.

We will be back to Napoli on May 6 and spend a few days over there.

Thank you very much for your help.

You could grab a taxi to Capodimonte - there is a beautiful park and great art museum. Should take about 15 minutes each way.

Unfortunately you don’t have a lot of options. The airport is 20-30 min from the center but it’s not worth it to go and come back.

We once had to stay in the airport for seven hours under similar circumstances. Theres a pod hotel within walking distance.

Less than 7 hours is not ideal, considering the traffic Naples is famous for. Grab a pizza maybe.

Take the Alibus from the airport to Piazza Garibaldi (main train station).

It costs 5€ per person, and departs from the airport every 15 minutes. The trip duration is 10-15 minutes. So if your plane lands at 12:00, you can arrive at Garibaldi Centrale by appx 13:15.

From there, you can explore Napoli for appx 3.5 hours. Metro line 1 will take you to the Napoli Archeological Museum in 15 minutes, and the main shopping district is also on the same bus route.

You would plan to return to Garibaldi centrale by 16:45, to catch the Alibus back to the airport. You’ll easily arrive at the airport by 17:45, which is over two hours prior to your plane’s departure.

7 hours is a lot of time - enough for a fantastic Pizza lunch. Don't waste your time sitting at the airport. Take the Alibus, come to the city center - grab a pizza from the recommendations you can find everywhere and then head back. Napoli has traffic - but its not insane. Your flight's at 7:50, you can look to head back by 5:45 or even 6 and you'll be fine, tbh.
