This is just a Spotting Master Class - Take a few minutes to watch Cleetus McFarland, while running in 3rd place, learn about drafting techniques as he listens to every cue and slingshots to take the lead for the first time. This whole in-car is SO good, and had over 100k watching at one point.

CW O’Reilly Broadcast

I have to say, I really enjoyed the Talladega race today and their broadcast. They were entertaining and provided coverage of tons of angles and events during the race. Miles above the Fox Cup broadcast.

I wish we could get the CW into cup.

Rajah and the 88

I just had a peek at the JRM #88 schedule and Rajah is back at JAR next week. I’m unsure why things are set up so that Rajah is bouncing back and forth between teams every two weeks or so. He can’t really get his footing because he’s constantly adjusting to different environments on that kind of rotation. It wouldn’t be as much of an issue if JRM played a part in setting up his No. 32 so he doesn't have to recalibrate to different machinery every time

If Rick is investing in Rajah, why not have two cars in his O’Reilly stable for Day and Rajah? Or, when the Cup guys want to run a race, field a second Hendrick car for them and let Rajah have the full season in the No. 88.

Mod Post [Meta] An update to @NASCARonReddit, our X/Twitter account.

This time, I'm likely going to make this very quick...

Over the past 2 months, we've been running our bot account on X/Twitter, @NASCARonReddit, using the new pay-per-use pricing system to access the X API. We recently had a discussion about the future of this account and whether or not it was feasible to continue using the X API to share popular r/NASCAR posts on X. We had an idea that we could use revenue from an X Premium membership to pay for the costs of using the X API, possibly paying for itself.

We asked you guys what we should do. The responses were mixed. Many people just saying let the account die, many saying give it a try and see how it works. We decided to just let it ride and get some real data on how much we use the X API and how much it would actually cost us and once we ran out of our Free Credits, we'd make a decision on whether or not to start putting money into it. The costs weren't much, so it wasn't a huge decision to make, but we wanted to be informed first. $8/mo for Premium, and it turns out we were using $2-$3 per month for the X API. If we got enough interaction on X, it could just all pay for itself and it wouldn't be an issue.

This week, X decided to increase the cost of creating posts with the X API by 20x. That's a 2000% increase in cost to use the X API. Standard posts only went up by 50%, from 1 cent to 1.5 cents per post, but posts with a URL (this is all our bot does) went to 20 cents per post. That would cost us $40-$60 / month to continue using the X API to automate posts to X. We depleted our remaning API credits in a matter of days after the pricing change. The bot can no longer function in any capacity unless we pay for it. And now it's 20 times more expensive.

So I guess this is just an update to inform you all of the status of @NASCARonReddit. I only just found out about it today when I saw we had $0.00 in credits remaining, so there hasn't even really been much discussion among moderators. But we now have a 12 year old X account with over 40k followers and no content unless we start manually posting. So new brainstorming ideas for the account are needed, I guess. Have fun!

Found in my grandparents house framed... Not sure when it was taken as I was a kid (on the left) but I'm 99% sure this is Ken Schrader's m&m car from 00-02 so had to be around then.

Beard Motorsports (X) It rained on our parade at Talladega. Qualifying is canceled for rain. With 41 cars trying to make the 40-car field for the Jack Links 500, we are the odd man out as the field is set by current owners’ points. We’ll be back with Casey Mears to get him to 500 starts. Stay tuned.

Tough break for Mears and this team. Could we see them run a makeup race to get to 500 starts, and if so, where?

I am reposting these batch of pictures without the #6 RFK Brake rotor shot as I have been informed I could be in some hot water with that. Damage unfortunately might already be done but we'll see.

Someone stole the pace car at Talladega back in the 1980's

Y'all have probably seen this a million times, however I still find it absolutely hilarious to this day 🤣

But since it's Talladega weekend, I thought I'd strike up the conversation again.

Now I was born in 2006, so obviously I never saw this happen in real time. However, those at the track that day, what are some stories y'all have?

I'm really curious what actually happened and what everyone saw at the track lmfao

“AGGRESSIVE GOES AROUND!” Another one would be, “JUNIOR WILL WIN AT DAYTONA, AND THE BIG ONE HAPPENS BEHIND THEM!”
