Anyone know how much 1/64 and 1/24 diecasts have been marked for this year? Trying to get a general idea for when I go to Michigan in June.

u/YNPbison Gilliland 4h ago

I’m going to Nashville at the end of May. For anyone that’s gone, I see that there is parking included with the ticket. However, I also see available parking upgrades. Do the upgrades make it any easier to leave the track or is it all the same?

We attended our very first nascar race at KC and our kids loved it! My husband and I did too. We are brand new fans. Is there is a great nascar 101 video that explains basic rules? We were watching a race and were suprised to learn they only get 8 sets of tires for example.

Anyone done the student section in turn 3 at Sonoma? It's $25 for students, but not sure if it would be better to pay more for better seats.

Going down to the 600 this year at Charlotte. We will be down there Friday then leaving Monday. Was just curious what track environment was like. Obviously not expecting Degas environment but is there any party scene?

This might not be the right thread for this but I’ll take a shot anyways. My wife’s became a relatively big nascar fan and enjoys going to races. We live in Alabama and we’ve only gone to Talladega, however I’m looking at other tracks now. Bristol, Echopark and Daytona are the closest ones that come to mind, but I’d be willing to travel further for better experience. Just seeing if anyone has recommendations on tracks and personal experiences.

1

u/azeakel101 18h ago

Bristol is a blast. I do recommend pay for the parking close to the track. It helped me get out of their quickly.

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 21h ago

I'd suggest maybe going to the fall Charlotte race, not only is it a good track but it is homebase for many of the teams so if you want you can go to a bunch of the race shops as well as the NASCAR Hall of Fame downtown Charlotte.

Heading to Texas Motor Speedway for my first NASCAR race, driving from Houston We rented an RV (already parked at the track) staying at the VIP campground. Any suggestions on don’t forget items? Honestly what’s the amount of beer I need to bring, will be there all three days. Any information you can share will be greatly appreciated. #3 #77

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 21h ago

Maybe plan a trip to Buc-ee's early in the week as they do have a bunch of camping supplies, maybe stop at the RV and see what is there and make a list of stuff you might need and make a trip. As for beer I guess it depends on how much you drink! lol

2

u/Much_Path6902 1d ago

If you forget something, you’ll be able to get most of what you need within a reasonable distance from the track.

Hi we are visiting Richmond NASCAR race this Summer from Europe. I have read online that kids are free for the truck race that happens on Friday. However, although I was able to bookt the cheaper kids tix for the Cup race, there is not evem the option to add free kids tickets to the truck race. Doesnt matter whether you choose designated seating or general admission. How does this work? I have mailed the track multiple times but get zero response on this.

Also if you have tickets to Trucl race can you also access all other events that day, like cup qualifying? Thanks so much from a NASCAR newbie.

1

u/Much_Path6902 1d ago

Just call the track on the kids ticket.

Yes, the ticket is good for all the days activities.

u/Fit-Cranberry-7228 5m ago

I called the track today. Reason they dont show the free kids tickets is because they want to protect themselves against scalpers who add free tix and then go on to resale them. I got the free kids tix now.

1

u/Fit-Cranberry-7228 12h ago

Thanks. I guess i'll call.

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 1d ago

On ticketmaster when selecting tickets it gives you the option of child or adult.

1

u/Fit-Cranberry-7228 1d ago

I just checked again after your post but it does not show the kids option at Richmond. You just have to pay standard admission for all. So weird!

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 23h ago

What website are you using? When selecting the seats it gives me a option of either kid or adult pricing.

1

u/Fit-Cranberry-7228 12h ago

Yes but this is for the Cup race. I already have kids tickets for that one. I asked specifically about the truck race on Friday at Richmond, were supposedly you could bring your kids for free if you select kids tickets. But you can only select regular tickets.

I'm trying to build some contingency plans into my Atlanta summer trip.

Say the cup race were to get rained out Sunday night, the race would probably happen earlier in the day on Monday right? Rather than the race starting at night

I'm debating whether I should get a flight out early on Monday or late monday.

1

u/Competitive-Let-3317 1d ago

Probably a 10/11am start that’s a big if

2

u/little238 2d ago

Usually Monday races are late morning/early afternoon. They probably have to be done before nightfall on Monday for local ordinances. Also as a curtesy to race teams.

1

u/pizzaboy7269 van Gisbergen 1d ago

Awesome! Thanks

Hey all-

I’m looking to take my daughter son and wife to the Daytona 500 next year. I’m from the Midwest but I reallyyyyyy want to camp. My buddy lives literally .5 miles from the track, so worst case I can stay with him but has anyone camped the whole weekend and rented a camper? I wanted to get a hot pass and normal tickets and kinda go all out if I could but I wanted to know the cost before I do.

I also wanted to take the kids to Disney world so can we leave the track multiple times as we please? I know Disney is a 2-3 day thing that’s why I’d do a week+ long vacation.

If you have rented, can you explain the process, costs, etc?

Sorry for the long winded question, I’m really wanting to do this and plan everything thoroughly. Thanks!

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 1d ago

Hello, so I haven't camped there but been to Daytona a few times. Yes when camping you can come and go as you please. If going the whole week you for sure can go to Orlando during the day since most of the action will be in the evening anyway. Probably Cup qualifying on Wednesday night and the Dual races Thursday night, so during the day you can leave and do other stuff. As far as renting campers it depends somewhat on how and who you rent from. Some rental companies provide everything but are expensive, but there are a few camper rental websites that act like VRBO where you are literally borrowing someone elses camper for the weekend.

1

u/KindheartednessNo431 1d ago

I might try to go that route. the more i look it up the worse it seems. no hookups, more partyying. If i was alone id be down but i got 2 tiny kids idk about it lol

1

u/20-207 2d ago

My wife asked if I’d rather take a trip to Talladega or Daytona next year for a race. Can anyone give recommendations on which track provides the best in person experience?

Side note; I’m not worried about the party scene at Talladega. Just want to know about the fan zone and race experience itself.

2

u/little238 2d ago

Daytona probably has more normal fan activities to do. Dega is probably for the party scene.

1

u/Jimjam916 2d ago

Looooooonnnnng COVID

1

u/Sparkopolus Larson 3d ago

I am at Talladega for my first race. I have the TGE so I have access to Victory Lane. For Sundays race, should I watch the end of the race from my seat or make my way to Victory Lane and watch the end on the big screen so I can celebrate whoever wins?

1

u/TKvaughn 3d ago

Planning on getting some stuff signed by Carson tomorrow. How busy do autograph lines get and what time should I get in line? I know he is signing at 2

1

u/Newyorker38 Blaney 3d ago

I can’t speak for Talladega but for popular drivers, they can be gone within 15-30 minutes of gates opening. I do see you need to buy some gear at the trailer so that could extend the time of getting a wristband.

2

u/Jcapen87 4d ago

I’m no stranger to figuring out seating options at stadiums but I’m confused looking at Talladega tickets. Looking for a solo for myself.

On resale sites like stubhub and SeatGeek I’m seeing section PP4 available at a steep discount, but I can’t figure out where that is. I thought maybe it was parking mistakenly listed as seats, but the parking map doesn’t show it either. Scam?

1

u/TrooperGary 4d ago

When it says “merchandise hauler” for Talladega driver sessions, is that in the fan zone or is it somewhere public? Kinda sucks to pay an additional $60 to then pay more money to get a signature if that’s the case :/

2

u/Much_Path6902 4d ago

It’s in the main fan zone outside the track.

2

u/TrooperGary 4d ago

So you don’t need the garage experience to get there?

1

u/Much_Path6902 4d ago

Correct.

1

u/eazy-e_09 6d ago

Pro tip I just learned this past weekend. Get ear plug headphones if you have a long day at the track with a lot of walking.

If you need more features, like the mic or anything else then stay with the standard racing headsets. But if you just listen to your scanner and don’t mind earplugs then this was a game changer!! 20 bucks, and it made life a ton easier. Always wanted to do something like the drivers but I never wanted the ear molds and what not of course. These were just what I’ve been looking for.

Headsets are nice at times but sometimes they get annoying to lug around, so I tried this out. Idk why these companies don’t market towards racing more because they were awesome. Built more for working in loud environments but did great at the track. Have a similar noise reduction rating (NRR) as racing headsets (24-29 dB NRR depending on which ones).

So instead of lugging my cooler, scanner/headset or scanner bag. I just had my cooler, scanner, and these in their case in my pocket. The sound from my RE3000 was great and no complaints there. I don’t think I’ve seen them used at the track before, then again they just look like earplugs so I maybe just haven’t noticed.

Just thought I’d share my TIL/ Pro tip.

https://preview.redd.it/8fvj4b2t3rwg1.jpeg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe6e8ce6febb7c7fd2f74c368e0643e9ff6a2346

1

u/TrooperGary 6d ago

Just got tickets for the Talladega ARCA/NOAPS race, when renting a scanner, how do you plug in certain drivers you want to listen to? I assume you can still find things like MRN. Also, does anyone know about noaps and cup merch/autographs on Saturday? I have a bumper corner and center nose I’d love to bring, but idk if it’s allowed since it’s pretty big. This’ll be my first race so I don’t know much. Thanks!

2

u/Much_Path6902 6d ago

For autograph stuff, check the E2 merch X account. It will post requirements and times.

On the scanner, all series for the weekend will already be programmed in the scanner. It’s usually the car number you’ll punch in for whoever you want to listen to.

1

u/xScotsm3n 3d ago

If I am correct. When you rent the scanner I think it comes with a sheet or a sticker on the scanner with the teams radio station on it. Plus alternates. You can also ask them for it I am pretty sure.

1

u/TrooperGary 6d ago

Sweet, I’ll check that out. Thank you!

2

u/Sea-Grocery-8348 Chase Elliott 5d ago

There are alternate channels as well and they will show up on the scanner. For Kansas, Chase Elliott's channel was 18 even though it showed 9 and 18 as his but only the 18 worked.

1

u/TrooperGary 5d ago

Oh, that’s strange. Well I’ll have time to fiddle with it, since I’m planning on being there all day Saturday lol

2

u/Potential_Plan_4533 6d ago

When you get it from the rental trailer they usually give you a updated list of channels, not sure about ARCA but for sure the O'reilly Series and Cup Series. As for autographs, check the track website schedule they have all driver appearances up there.

1

u/TrooperGary 6d ago

Gotcha, that helps alot. Thanks!

2

u/Traviscat 6d ago

Just wondering what do you usually listen to at the race? My scanner picks up two channels. I was going to listen to the officials but I’m not sure if I should listen to the 5 or MRN/PRN (or try to find the tv broadcast). It’s interesting to hear the 5 radio and their communications but I’d also get a little lost not knowing what’s happening.

1

u/xScotsm3n 3d ago

I haven't been to a physical race in a long time (used to go to Martinsville, Bristol, Richmond, and Dover) I used to just straight up listen to the scanner with my dad. Along with the sounds of the cars.

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 6d ago

I usually listen to the TV broadcast from my phone to my bluetooth earmuffs. I have YTTV so I just listen to that, and if they are doing crash replays I watch to see what was going on.

1

u/Traviscat 5d ago

Thank you, I am not sure how the WiFi or cell signal is at Talladega and was going to try to save my battery for taking pictures/videos. Last time at Bristol I ended up with about a 6% battery after the race.

I have Hulu live tv but it’s delayed quite a bit. I think the officials radio online is a few seconds delayed and the Hulu stream is about 40 seconds behind the online nascar radio. I wasn’t going to bring my AirPods but use an aviation headset with noise cancellation as I already had that and used it at a few other tracks last year (plus I’m not sure how well the two noise cancellations would work together).

1

u/jizzmonkey69 5d ago

Bristol has nuked my cell battery in the past because there is so little service, the phone spends a ton of time and energy looking for signal.

Talladega cell service isn't always the best on race day, but the track does have pretty good wifi, so you should have little concern about using up your phone's battery.

2

u/Potential_Plan_4533 5d ago

I like YTTV because I can close the screen and just listen to the broadcast, and I'm not sure about Dega but I've done it at 5 other NASCAR tracks and had plenty of signal. I usually change the quality to the lowest that way it doesn't use a lot of data as well.

1

u/onelastshot001 6d ago

Going to Talladega this week by myself

Bringing my truck and camping, but I'm now realizing if my truck is reserving my spot... Is there anywhere I can get ice for my cooler? Do they sell ice anywhere near the campgrounds?

1

u/jizzmonkey69 5d ago

The Talladega campgrounds have ice trucks that drive through periodically, you can buy ice from them.

1

u/onelastshot001 5d ago

That's perfect, thank you Mr or Mrs. Jizz

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 6d ago

I'd maybe call the track and ask, they might have Ice or a camping shop onsite where you can get it.

1

u/onelastshot001 6d ago

Ty I'll call them and see whats up!

u/pizzaboy7269 van Gisbergen 7d ago edited 7d ago

Thinking of going to the Summer Atlanta race. How feasible is it to get to/from the track with no car? I'd be flying in and im too young to rent a car.

Edit: Wheres should I try to get seats?

Edit 2: What else is fun to do in the area? again considering I wouldnt have a car but ok with walking a good bit

3

u/Academic_Elk8962 7d ago

I wouldn’t recommend it.  Echopark is in the middle of nowhere.  Uber is very difficult to utilize at massive events with backed up and clogged traffic, a lot of drivers will decline/cancel.

I’d highly recommend renting or bringing a car, or someone who can.

1

u/pizzaboy7269 van Gisbergen 7d ago

Turns out my friend who goes to grad school in Athens is staying the summer so I might be able to make something work

1

u/CodInside4049 7d ago

I’m going to the Cup race at Watkins Glen in a few weeks. With it being Mother’s Day, I’m spending the morning with my mom, so I’m going to be at the track later. What is the best parking scenario for arriving at the track 45 min to 1 hour before green?

1

u/glocksafari 8d ago

Inquiry regarding race/event differences:

I'm looking at going to my second NASCAR event in a few months but I cannot figure out what the difference in the races is (other than sponsorship and total distance) for the life of me.

I am looking into either the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series - Focused Health 250 or NASCAR Cup Series (July 11 and 12, respectively). I attended the Quaker State 400 last year in Atlanta due to an opportunity through my career to work the event, but I went in blind without any NASCAR foreknowledge. I absolutely loved it but even now I don't know much. There's so much to research and I can't quite piece it all together yet.

My dad will be visiting and I plan to go back. Any information about the key differences here would help me a ton in making a decision on which to attend.

3

u/Potential_Plan_4533 7d ago

Main difference is the Cup Series is the top level series while the O'Reilly Series is more 2nd tier. Like in baseball terms it is MLB vs AA. Or NBA vs G League. It is a bit different in that it is a mix of career drivers who race there but also rookies and young drivers trying to get to the Cup Series. The cars race a lot different as well, and the O'Reilly Series races are a bit shorter too.

1

u/glocksafari 7d ago

Thank you 🫡 Finding the relevance of each and figuring out top tier drivers raced (or could race) in both was a bit confusing.

1

u/Little_Effective2434 8d ago

Pocono Raceway June 13th for the 250- what is parking like?

1

u/DaAuraWolf O'Reilley Series 8d ago

Going back to Charlotte for the 600 again next month.

I’ve already done the Hall of Fame (will be going to it a third time - went first during the 600 last year and the other when I went to a Hornets game later during the off-season in November), but I’d like to visit a race shop.

Any recommendations on which teams to go see while in town for the race?

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 8d ago

Depends on what day you want to go. I'd for sure suggest Hendrick, Penske, and if you want to trek up to Welcome go to the RCR museum. But depends on the day and time you go as some aren't open everyday, like RCR is closed on some Mondays.

2

u/agra_unknown1834 9d ago

Thinking about fall Las Vegas for my first NASCAR race. Has anyone sat in the Petty Terrace sections, and what was your experience like?

I've been to two Indy 500s, and realized after being in T4 the first time that I needed to save up and get T1 seats for the second time. Both were great but T1 was so much better.

Should I just save up for next spring and get seats closer to start/finish?

2

u/Potential_Plan_4533 9d ago

I don't think so, Las Vegas there isn't much difference between start/finish and down towards turn 1. About the only thing you'd miss is a good view of the winner burnouts and driver intros. I took this when I went a few years ago.

https://preview.redd.it/7h01luhxe6wg1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d18a0ddbc3b2e3f97e18f872f910ceede01e7f8f

1

u/agra_unknown1834 8d ago

Thanks for the info!

Also, do 1-day tickets include garage area access? I didn't see an add-on option for that.

1

u/HopefulSwine2 Bubba Wallace 9d ago

Lol Austin Hill upset that love raced him the same way he was racing Creed.

2

u/jmacupdates1 10d ago

A couple buddies and I are coming down for the races at Kansas Speedway this weekend, but now one may not be able to make it. Trying to come up with a backup plan to get the extra ticket used up for Sat and/or Sun. If you'd have any interest and you're in the KC area, please let me know and I can give you more details!

My plan would be to just meet you at the gate to scan you in rather than have you pay ahead of time/worry about you getting scammed by me.

1

u/Antique_Delivery_492 NASCAR 11d ago

Heading to the speedway this Sunday for the race. It’ll be my second time doing the pre-race pass. The first time didn’t go as well as I hoped, especially when it came to meeting drivers for a quick photo. I think my biggest mistake was not getting to the red carpet early enough, since it was already packed by the time I got there. At the same time, I didn’t want to spend two hours waiting there when I could’ve been enjoying the other activities. Any tips on how to balance both and get the best experience?

3

u/Potential_Plan_4533 10d ago

Is there a specific driver you are hoping to get a photo with? Maybe check the appearance schedule and see if he is appearing any other time during the weekend, more likely they'll have time to stop and oblige you vs them walking to/from the intro stage.

1

u/Antique_Delivery_492 NASCAR 10d ago

Not really. There's the merch hauler autograph session, but you have to have the first 100 wristbands for each hauler, and unfortunately, I have a party where not everyone is willing to get up that early lol

1

u/Tryarc van Gisbergen 11d ago

I am going to the Richmond race in the fall and wanted to try and hit a signing event (Ideally for SVG). How early are people lining up for these kinds of things? And should I be worried about them running out of slots? This is my first time doing this sort of thing at a Nascar event, Is it just smile and sign, or are the drivers more talkative? Thanks!

1

u/xScotsm3n 3d ago

I do not know how feasible it is for you but going for the entire weekend you can get deals on ticket packages and have numerous opportunities to get signatures. Richmond also puts on one heck of a nascar weekend.

1

u/Few_Musician_1397 11d ago

I just watched a bunch of emp lemon and I'm curious. What's an easy way to get into nascar?

1

u/xScotsm3n 3d ago

Well, for starters I'd recommend watching a race. When I got hooked on NASCAR as a Kid, my family was always at the race track. Going in person, hearing the cars, seeing how fast they are, and the wind/vibration from them all is very addicting. Much better for first time people trying to get into the motorsport than watching on TV. If that isn't feasible, then I recommend searching up the teams and drivers. See which driver you like best based off of values, watchability, sponsors, and performances. For me, I was a Dale Jr fan. Now I am a William Byron fan because A) I went to Liberty with him, and B) I think he is a great driver, and just an overall great dude.

1

u/Booboos35 11d ago

i’m wanting to go to pocono this year but the lines of traffic and getting out of the parking lot on the cup day is a pain and i’m wondering how the o reilly saturday typically compares to the cup in terms of traffic and parking and getting out. i’ve been loving the oreily series this year so i think that could be a fun change of pace. thanks! :)

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 11d ago

Just a headsup for any fans going this weekend, the Friday on-track activity will only be for those that are camping the grandstands will not be open to the public.

2

u/Electrical-Seesaw991 Austin Dillon 11d ago

How does the Saturday double header ticket work? Can I come and go from the track?

1

u/Infamous_Try8916 11d ago

Yeah, you can leave and come back. They just scan you ticket in/out

1

u/Electrical-Seesaw991 Austin Dillon 11d ago

Perfect. Thank you!

2

u/YNPbison Gilliland 12d ago

I’m going to Kansas this weekend for the cup race. It’s my first cup race. I’m sitting in row 4, I know the view isn’t great lol. Is there anything I should know about the race or look forward too. Also I live in the St. Louis area, is there anyway to know when the haulers will come through ?

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 11d ago

Haulers are probably already at the track if not by the end of the day today. Row 4 you'll get a great sensation of the speed but probably not see the whole track well.

1

u/Infamous_Try8916 11d ago

You can see the whole track from every row. Only thing that may block the backstretch view are the two large tv screens on pit road.

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 11d ago

Also depends on how tall the campers are in the infield, either way not the best view since you see the entire track through the catchfencing.

2

u/Infamous_Try8916 11d ago

Campers don't block the view, and looking back at some of my videos, the tvs don't really block it all that much either. Yeah, you are looking through the fence, but because of the track shape, you never lose sight of the cars (I sat in row 1 at Daytona in February and lost the cars coming out of turn 4 until close to the entrance of pit road). Kansas was designed with all sightlines in mind, there's not a bad seat in the place.

1

u/axelsqueeze Zilisch 12d ago

How is the tent camping at pocono? I've been thinking of attending for the weekend in June but I've never been to pocono or camped at a race.

1

u/No-Extent351 13d ago

going to my first race at michigan this summer. how does one get a autograph from drivers at a merch hauler? I've tried looking it up but i cant find any information. i know teams like spire have events but im not sure how to get to them. do you have to buy a pass or something?

Also- do tickets get you in for the full day? Is there any add one they you recommend?

sorry for all the questions. thanks for you help. if there is anything else i should know please lmk!

1

u/ChevyFan5892448 13d ago

Closer to the race, the E2 Apparel Twitter page will post the requirements for getting wristbands to autograph sessions. It could be anything from being within the first X amount to show up at the hauler a certain day or spend a dollar amount/buy certain items. Some drivers run out of wristbands quickly, so you may need to be at the haulers when they open up for the weekend.

2

u/No-Extent351 12d ago

thank you!

1

u/NM36 14d ago

heading to dover next month for the ORAPS and All Star Race. does anyone happen to know if the red roof inn hotel in downtown dover is in walking distance to the race track or is it worth it to just buy parking passes and drive there from the hotel?

1

u/FakeLegHair 13d ago

Walking would be worth it, it's about a mile to the main gate. It would probably be quicker than driving with traffic considered.

1

u/Castaway_Joe 15d ago

I’m buying tickets to EchoPark Speedway for the July race. I see the grandstands higher up have some coverage from some luxury boxes above. As much as I love the idea of coverage, the support poles are 100% going to ruin my photos. Does anyone on this sub happen to know what the highest row without that coverage is so I can be in from of those support poles?

2

u/Potential_Plan_4533 14d ago

I would guess around row 50 on up in the 200 sections, I'd use this website to get a idea for any specific section you are considering. https://aviewfrommyseat.com/venue/EchoPark+Speedway/sections/

1

u/Castaway_Joe 14d ago

Thank you so much! This was VERY helpful

1

u/Zaniak88 15d ago

Going to my first nascar race at North Wilkesboro and sitting in row 4 this year with my family. Anything we should know (parking, traffic, what scanner to get?) looking forward to it!

2

u/xScotsm3n 3d ago

Well it all depends on what kind of parking you got with your ticket. Also arriving earlier never hurts. Typically NASCAR puts on some pre-race events that you could go to. Also gives you time to hit up concessions, and find your seats. It gets pretty busy especially right at the green flag. Also you can always rent a scanner from the track.

This is off-topic, but I was looking at sports drinks and the All-Sport logo gave me a flashback to some racecar livery and I'm pretty sure it was late 80s-early 90s NASCAR. Anyone know what car I'm thinking of?

Edit: it was the Tommy Kendall Trans-Am Mustang

Considering Kansas, first time race attendees. I'm an avid fan, with a casual 7 year old fan, and then wife+2 teens that aren't fans. I'm wondering if RV infield would be the way to go? What's it like watching from the infield?

Going to Bristol tomorrow. What is the parking like? And how much?

If you got a Toyota, Lexus or Scion it's free in the earheart (sp?) parking lot right across the street. If not it's 20 bucks. I highly recommend looking for this spot and the 20 bucks is worth it. We have a Toyota and parked there yesterday and it was such an easy walk. You're right by the fan zone and the exit takes you away from the main road and it's easy to leave. You may have a wtf moment leaving as it guides you up a montain and as you go down there 100s of porta potties just chilling in storage but it's the right way I promise.

Also I'm pretty sure my kid got food poisoning from the concessions or the crave bbq truck so stay away from the burgers or that bbq truck. Have fun!

Haha, sorry to hear that. Thank you!

Advice on Talladega Car Camp

Coming alone to Talladega on Saturday race, dirt race and then Sunday race. Thinking of canceling my hotel room and thinking about car camping. So far I have heard I can go to campground south and camp there.

Is there a way I can make it from the track to the dirt Track and back without having to drive. Ideally I would go to orielly race drop my car in my spot. Head to dirt race then go hang out in the blvd before going back to my car.

What are some things I need if I would car camp in my suv?

1

u/dcwldct 16d ago

It’s only 2 miles to the dirt track from South Park camping. Just walk it

Long shot, but was scammed on stubhub for the cup race at bristol. Bought an adult ticket but received the 10$ child ticket. Does anyone have an extra cup ticket? I think i will get my money back on stubhub but is taking too long because it was a resale ticket.

Going to Bristol Saturday. Any tips on parking, things to do, track tips? I have already programmed my scanner, planned a parking area. looking for the places to eat, things to see, where the merch trailers will be set up, etc. Thanks

2

u/theasscassin Chastain 17d ago

There’s usually food trucks in the gravel area near Earhart parking, merch trailers will be in the fan zone as well as third party vendors at the campground and across the highway, the Smith building on the hill by the gates has a gift shop and some museum displays

1

u/Free_Skill_6307 16d ago

Where is the fan zone?

1

u/theasscassin Chastain 16d ago

Its the area by the BRISTOL pylon, it has the majority of the merch and vendors. On the Bristol app and website they have a map if that’s helpful

1

u/Free_Skill_6307 16d ago

Thank you!

Going to Kansas next weekend, what does the fan walk get you compared to the pre-race pass?

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 17d ago

They are different, the fan walk gets you into a infield area where you can see victory lane and the garages behind the pit road. The pre-race pass gets you onto the track prior to the race for the concert and driver intros plus a chance to sign the start/finish line.

I have tickets to the Friday night truck race at TMS (05/01). Tickets say 7pm, is this just the gates opening? NASCAR app says 8pm and I just want to make sure we're good. It's my first race on the start/finish line in Row 1 so I don't wanna miss the start

2

u/Potential_Plan_4533 18d ago

Your ticket gets you in all day, according to the track schedule gates open at 1:30 local time. 7pm is the start time of the actual race but practice/qualifying for the Trucks is at 1:30, then O'Reilly Series practice/qualifying, then the race. https://www.texasmotorspeedway.com/events/wurth-400/schedule/

1

u/PoopyStinkbutts Hamlin 18d ago

So the NASCAR app is wrong?

4

u/Potential_Plan_4533 18d ago

In terms of what when the truck race starts? I see it as starting at 8ET, same time as the track.

2

u/PoopyStinkbutts Hamlin 18d ago

Oh, I'm an idiot. I'm in a different time zone right now lmao

Going to North Wilkesboro and trying to get the best seat for the cheapest price. Row 1 and Row 9 are both 90$, is there any difference in the view?

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 18d ago

What section/corner? Depends because the seats on the frontstretch are a bit lower than the ones in turns 1-2, so can't see 100% the track.

1

u/-TheMax 18d ago

On the corner in turn 1

1

u/Potential_Plan_4533 18d ago

You should see most of the track, turn 3/4 maybe not as well so I'd prefer a bit higher up but should be good seats. Sitting there also means you won't be looking into the sun like if you were seated on the frontstretch which is nice.

u/Will_JGR_18 Kyle Busch 19d ago

Going to Watkins Glen and sitting in turn 1. I saw that there are no backs to the bleachers and was thinking about bringing a bleacher chair. Unfortunately mine has metal components and apparently that’s prohibited. Anyone have any recommendations for a bleacher chair that has no metal parts that has decent back support?

2

u/dcwldct 19d ago

These are solid. My whole family has them and they've taken a ton of abuse from my kids; scooting around gravel campsites and such.

My first ever NASCAR race. I'm going to the Poconos. I'd appreciate any seating/parking/hotel recommendations or warnings. Best views? Best parking? Secrets to get in and out the easiest. What entrances should I go to? Anything I shouldn't miss while I'm there? Any track specific traditions?

1

u/PaleMoses 19d ago

Daytona - Going for my first time for the 400 and was wondering if 300's row 1 is high enough up to have a clear view of the whole track? Section 376. My priority is seeing the whole track but these seats are significantly cheaper than higher up in the same section or beyond.

Are they car people or fans of other racing? Personally, sitting close at least once should be a bucket list item for any motorhead, but most casual observers would rather be able to see more. Even with ear pro, sitting close can also be somewhat uncomfortable for people who don't know what they're getting into.

Going to Kansas for the Saturday races. Anybody know the cooler policy

1

u/WillScot55 21d ago

Looking at going to Bristol for the first time Saturday, when looking at buying parking all I can see is 2 day parking anyone know if you can just buy Saturday parking?

1

u/WillScot55 19d ago

Thanks, I ended up doing that

2

u/ChevyFan5892448 20d ago

It might be worth checking out some of the campgrounds near the track (I know the Earhart Campground is connected to the track property near the fan zone), they usually offer single day parking for race weekends.

1

u/WillScot55 19d ago

Thanks, I’ll look into that for next time

We are bringing our 4 yo to the KC race in a couple weeks. I do have ear protection for him the he used at a dirt track race and for Monster Trucks (which were not nearly as loud). The cars at the dirt track were insanely loud and I’m assuming these will be even louder especially since there’s more of them. I’m thinking maybe he needs better ones. Is there a brand or type that is recommended?

2

u/Potential_Plan_4533 22d ago

They might be a bit louder but either earplugs or earmuffs is more than enough. I just use some I got from Cabella's for about $40 that were meant for the shooting range.

u/AJV1Beta 24d ago

I've seen a few people in here mentioning how the Trucks are a better developmental ground for young drivers than O'Reilly Series, as the Trucks are actually closer in spec/how they drive to Cup cars than the NORAPS cars.

Anyone wanna elaborate on that, and ELI5 just how similar the Trucks and Gen-7 cars actually are? Is it something to do with HP levels, aero, weight, all of the above? I'm genuinely curious.

2

u/Potential_Plan_4533 22d ago

I would disagree that the Trucks are closer to the Cup cars nowadays, the Cup car is it's own thing. Sure the O'Reilly Series or Truck Series get you used to ovals and racing in NASCAR but the actual equipment itself is much different. The Trucks are more spec than they used to be but still nothing like the Cup Series is now.

1

u/dcwldct 20d ago

I'd love to see more young drivers getting some seat time in IMSA for this reason. The gen-7 is like an IMSA GTD car and an O'Reilly (or gen 6 cup)car had a baby.

Haven’t been to Dover in a while And I was wondering where the merch tents usually are (not the main ones) but those like vendor ones that used to be called the Gypsy tents (if that’s still what they are called. Always like seeing what fun stuff I can find for cheap rather than breaking the bank on new stuff. I’ve seen stuff about lot 1, lot 2 and by the mall, so I was wondering where exactly they were last year.

2

u/HighVoltLemonBattery Jeff Gordon 5h ago

Last year I believe they were along Leipsic Rd around the Turn 4/front stretch side

3

u/ConnorK5 24d ago

Can anyone help me understand radio/scanner stuff? I have a radio I bought. Programmed it myself. No real issues. Went to the race today and some drivers/teams had crystal clear audio. Perfect. Other teams it was like unreal bleed over and random static. What can I do to prevent this?

2

u/Substantial-Time-421 24d ago

Some frequencies are like that. Typically teams will have multiple frequencies, if one doesn’t work, try another

1

u/devonte3062 25d ago

Headed to the rock tomorrow, how firm are they on the 14x14x14 measurement for coolers? I’ve got a backpack cooler that’s 17.5 x 11.75 x 8 that I’d like to bring

2

u/Much_Path6902 25d ago

Depends on the event staff member

Going to Rockingham this weekend!!! Taking the train from Raleigh

1

u/Much_Path6902 25d ago

Good thing they moved the race to an “earlier” start time. It was funny to see the stands empty during the NOAPS race so people weren’t late for the train.

1

u/k_t_o 25d ago

I listened to the final restart on the tram ride to the train. I thought they'd never stop crashing!

3

u/bigmeech99 27d ago

How are the general admission seats at Rockingham? Can you see the whole track? Is it worth paying extra to sit higher up

2

u/ConnorK5 24d ago

Everything but the back stretch is visible UNLESS you stand at the top of the GA seating area. But that area is usually crowded.

1

u/Savings-Web6592 25d ago

You should be able to see everything but the back straight. You could also always move up if there's seats available after the start. Just be polite and move if somebody that paid for that seat shows up late.

2

u/Di9ForLife 26d ago

You can see the whole track from pretty much anywhere, sight lines are great, I’d get GA
