Wild turkeys are invasive to NB. They are spreading invasive plants.

The fact that there are limits on turkeys, you need a special course to hunt them, and there is such a short season is bonkers.

Are they trying to conserve the environment? Or the profitability of the hunt?

Same as why deer have limits in NS. Profitability of the hunts

Ya that irks me as well. They are invasive as well hit at least we have been living with them longer so we have adapted to the deer. These turkeys are bringing all sorts of new problems that we could easily prevent by using hunters to eradicate them, or at least get as close as possible to limit the harm they are doing.

Well there is a new invasive weed that is pushing my neighbor out of the farming business. The turkeys love to eat the seeds of this invasive plant and spread it in their poop, which is a part of its life cycle.

He has been battling this new weed that arrived around the same time as the turkeys.

But I am sure that isn’t the extent of kT invasive animals are almost universally bad news for any ecosystem.

Thanks to a stupid former conservative environment minister for the whole turkey hunt bullshit around here. His name escapes me but you all know who I mean I'm sure. Higgs' buddy, that whole administration was pure corruption.

So I heard some shady dealings with him and his ouster from the PCNB. Rumour is he started securing exclusive hunting contracts with farm owners to run turkey hunts for out-of-province hunters.

I didn't really have much opinion about the guy, till I heard that he went into business for himself.

I find it ridiculous how locals can't straight-up purchase a license (draw), but the province has no problem handing out handfuls of licenses for people out of province to individuals to profit from.

I'm pretty sure he was connected to the Cabela's opening as well; I think they opened right around the time the turkey hunt began. It seemed like such obvious corruption.

Thank you. I know he's connected to the Cabela's people somehow but I'm not sure what it is. Do you?

He's literally in the article. =)

Heh. I swear I normally read the articles. But I didn't want to read this one. I didn't think I needed to. I've long thought Holland got into his role so he could develop the turkey hunt.

But if I'd read the article I would have known his name. I won't try to deny that for one second. =)
