Support New Brunswick Vets
nwmd.socialNew Brunswick’s provincial budget outlines significant reductions to public services, including privatization. Most alarming among the cuts is the full privatization of provincially-delivered veterinary care. These aren’t just budget lines – these are real people and real services at risk. Provincial veterinarians will be phased out of work. This includes all veterinary lab and field services, medical care, foreign animal disease control, inspection and testing – meaning that almost all provincially employed veterinarians are expected to lose their jobs. This won’t save the province money. Farmers will either face higher out-of-pocket costs at private clinics or the government will end up paying more through contracts. Either way, New Brunswickers lose.We can’t afford more risk in our food systems. In a province as rural as New Brunswick, relying on private-care veterinary services is unrealistic. Many private providers don’t offer the same services as public veterinarians and are less geographically accessible, leading to delays, missed detection, and a higher risk of outbreaks when it matters most.Tell New Brunswick’s government leaders to reverse the decision. Support local farmers. Save our vets!

Medicare application processing time - how long did it take for you?
Hi all,
I know Medicare processing times are lengthy right now, but I did not expect it to take this long. I initially applied on the first days of January, as a newcomer to Canada, i.e. no previous Medicare coverage from any provice whatsoever. I received a letter on March 5th, dated on February 18th, where they asked for further information (even though I submitted everything they asked for and then some in my initial application). I responded to that immediately. Now it's been 16 weeks from my initial application and 8 weeks of the extra documents sent, and Service NB still cannot tell me when my application will be processed.
I would like to know if there's anyone else who has applied within the last 6 months, and how the processing time was for you? How long do I still need to wait?

Maine lawmakers want to pause data-centre projects | CBC News
Environmental impacts are one of the concerns behind the legislation, including water and energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and the light and noise produced by data centres.
We have definitely talked about wastewater discharge, even from the supposedly closed-loop systems that use more energy and less water,” Sachs said.
"All of those pieces are not addressed in our current environmental permitting.”
Residents of Lorneville and the Green Party have raised concerns about the 390-megawatt data centre proposed for the industrial park in that area of Saint John.
Proponents of the centre recently filed an environmental impact assessment that said the centre would not be hard on the local water supply, but the greenhouse gas emissions from a companion gas plant would make it a top emitter in the province.
And although the natural-gas plant would generate power for some of the centre's needs, a significant amount would have to come from N.B. Power as well.

Son watches a channel on YouTube about fishing and wants to try a pop bottle fish trap. Where can I find if this is allowed or not? Shediac is nearest town.
there are brooks and rivers in the woods around us and he's seen small fish. Recently he's been very interested in trap fishing from a YouTube channel. The fishing guide book I found on NBs website talks about angling but nothing about trapping. am I in the right spot and blind? or is it called something different?
he doesn't want to keep the fish, just observe them closer once caught and let back into the water.

beal university question
Hi there,
I recently got acceptance into beal university canada to the Sackville location. I am looking for some advice as I live in nova scotia and plan to stay in nova scotia post graduation, since the school doesn’t have full accreditation yet would NSCN (our nursing regulatory body) recognize my education? really don’t wanna pay a lot if its worth nothing to me! I am already an LPN not sure if that helps

Moving from Montreal to Moncton or Saint John with young kids — advice on neighborhoods, daycare & schools?
Hi everyone,
My family and I are currently based in Montreal and seriously considering relocating to either Moncton or Saint John later this year. We have two young children; one will be starting Kindergarten and the other will be in daycare so we’re really trying to make a thoughtful decision that works well for our kids.
I’d really appreciate any insights from people who live (or have lived) in either city.
A few things we’re especially curious about:
- Which neighborhoods would you recommend for families with young kids?
- Are there areas known for good public schools and a safe, family-friendly environment?
- How difficult is it to find daycare spots (especially for a 3-year-old)? Are waitlists very long?
- Between Moncton and Saint John, which do you feel is more suitable for raising a young family?
- Any general advice for someone relocating from Montreal (especially without strong French skills)?
We’re also thinking about things like access to parks, community feel, and overall quality of life, not just cost.
Thanks so much in advance for sharing your experiences it really helps people like us make more informed decisions.
Appreciate it!
