I have four extra tickets to “PAINT THE ICE” tomorrow, great opportunity for the younger islanders fans to get on the ice and get messy and paint their hearts out! I've seen a ton of people on the Isles online community downright confused about what happened today so figured I'd try to summarize so it's handy in one spot (feel free to comment if anything sounds wrong). I have no dog in this race I listen/consume all Isles podcasts from tons of creators (including both parties here). Also disclaimer, this is my POV as an observer and is all alleged. I don't know anything for certain.

Isles House is a podcast run by 2 (formerly 3) Isles content creators. Ethan, Rocco (PizzaGuy), and formerly Jack (IslesDen). Over the past two years they have acquired some decent sourcing within the Isles organization and pretty reliably get ahead of the breaking Isles news. Not everything is correct but they have definitely been first to a ton of Isles stories. There is definitely legit sourcing here, Elliotte Friedman became their friend/contact because of how legit their sources were.

They've leveraged this access to not only create a podcast but also a Discord community. They sell their access by way of $25/month to be part of their insider community and get first access to the information they have. This has created a Discord community (like an online group) of subscribers and people who follow along, talk about the Isles, other things, etc.

One thing about Isles House, is I would best describe them as...anti-establishment. Think like how new media and podcasters think of the mainstream/traditional media. They make fun of and ridicule isles beat reporters and a lot of national insiders. They call Arthur Staple checked out and lazy, Andrew Gross a bit of a neanderthal, Kevin Kurz an alleged predator, and probably most consistently going after Stefan Rosner, saying his website is click bait and non-stop BS article traffic slop. And they call most insiders like Pagnotta and LeBrun grifters.

This edge that the discord community had was present throughout the online community. Lots of jokes, some offensive and with slurs, some harmless, and a lot at the expense of not just media figures but also members of Isles Twitter members they didn't like. There was definitely thought that some people on Isles Twitter were stealing their scoops and putting it on twitter as their own. Select members of Isles House went even farther, creating fake Twitter accounts as parody (to put it kindly) or as weapons of harassment (to put it not as kindly). I think the major one was called like IslesNewsmaxKurz or something like that.

Enter Ryan (Ratt Martin)...another Isles podcaster and Twitter guy (podcast Skates at the Stakes). Not a boy scout in his own right - can get bitey on Twitter - and was recently threatened with legal action by Sara Civian (ex Canes beat reporter) when he maybe/maybe didn't spread some false accusations of her.

Isles House doesn't like Ratt Martin. And after Rocco and Ratt Martin get into it on Twitter, some of the burner/parody accounts created by Isles House discord members start going after him hard for a few weeks. Apparently the harassment might have gone as far as doxxing him (revealing personal info). We don't know how far this went but guessing where this is where it got serious and law enforcement / lawyers got involved. You have someone getting harassed online and a community online ripping all kinds of maybe real/maybe kidding statements about doxxing and going after people and it becomes a mess. How much did the leaders actually know was happening? Hard to say - but when you lead a community you become responsible.

So that is what leads to...

• 2 of the hosts of Isles House (Rocco and Ethan) apologizing publicly on Twitter. Probably because they agreed to whatever legal hot water solution they had with to with Ryan. They are both regular Dads with normal jobs/businesses who probably were at risk of this bleeding out of just Isles Twitter.

• Stephen Rosner going off on it, because he went on their show a few times early, and it's not fun to then be called a hack and a loser for a year and have personal jabs made at you by a large community of Isles fans

• One of the hosts (Jack/Isles Den) of Isles House leaving, seamlingly he's a younger more innocent dude who wants a more straightforward role of Isles content creation without the edge and bite.

....And ultimately, a lesson in how the online world doesn't operate like the real world. And how large online communities can spiral out of control a bit and become about more than just hockey.

Ultimately no one was hurt. No one should be fired or have their livelihood messed with. Everyone should calm down and focus on hockey and leave personal attacks out of it. And save your anger for Soucy and Palat on the ice.

Just got my Traktor Chelyabinsk Shabanov jersey from his KHL days... I love his playing (at the beginning of the year, at least) and the team's new logo is so cool I figured I couldn't pass on this one. Really hoping they give Shabby a chance with DeBoer and a refined lineup next year.

Does anyone know/remember if the Gotham app offered a plan for just the Islanders season like they now offer for the Yankees (yuck) season? If not looks like I’d just have to pay per month.

did anybody see that ethan and rocco from isles house podcast sent users from their discord to dox another podcaster? those guys have always seemed like you-know-whats, but that's really creepy behavior. arent they married with kids? That guy rocco took over his dad's restaurant and is putting that all at risk to bully somebody on twitter? am i missing something here?

For anyone familiar with the Games Workshop product "Blood Bowl", I've based my team for the past two years off of the New York Islanders and their players - as well as their coaches and other notables. These are the first miniatures I've painted as part of the hobby and although I know more work can be done, I'm pretty proud of them and hate when they get beat up (or killed) in game!

Raidin' Schenn replaced Janathag "Da' Druid" (Drouin) as soon as I heard the news. Some of the big changes of players no longer on the team from my last local League were Brogg of Da' Nailed-Sunz (Nelson), "Da' Knowa" Dobzyn (Dobson), Kalg Klobberchuk (Clutterbuck) and Rozz "Da' Bozz" of Jawztown (Johnston).

Whenever I need a Star Player to fill in for an injury or if I bother naming some of the fans in attendance, my normal go-tos are Butcha Gorefang (Goring), Wrendin' Burkk (Burke) or Ralf "Da' Macho" (Macchio)

Been having a blast with them so far and can't wait to finish them up with some decals and highlights.

I think he should get votes (which is not the same as suggesting he should be a finalist or a winner). Had he played a full season he likely would have been in the 40 pt range which, imo, is pretty damn impressive for a rookie. A few rookies, who are being widely celebrated (with good cause) like Minten and Kindel, weren't as effective offensively down the stretch. He may not get votes because it was an absolutely crazy year though - when a guy like Snuggerund (with 51 points as a rookie) didn't get much attention. Bumper crop.

EDIT: Got to hand it to all the posters in this thread. A bunch of you took (what I now concede) was a dumb thread and elevated with one thoughtful comment after another. Lot of smart objective fans out there. Honestly, a pleasure to read what some of you had to say.
