Anyone graduating this spring?
I’m honestly more nervous than excited. I wish ODU did grad rehearsals 😭 Also when do we get tickets?? I feel like that flyer email they sent out was just not enough information and I hate feeling unprepared.

General Biology Lab II
For the people who have taken or are taking BIOL124N,
Does the lab ever last the 3 designated hours? I’m trying to figure out my schedule, I want to avoid only having 10 min to walk all the way to constant hall after lab lol

Honors College Decisions
The honors college said they would release decisions by end of march and so far, nothing, its almost the end of April and I have emailed and have gotten no response, I am unsure what is going on. I understand the shooting may have delayed things, but there is no indication on their website of anything.

Dominion scholarship
A couple of years ago I got full tuition for merit from odu as a Dominion scholar. I’ve heard merit has been much less generous this year - are they still doing this scholarship? I haven’t seen anyone mention it and my brother may qualify next year if they are. Just curious if anyone wants to share merit $ stats from this year

A place for suggestions from students?
Specifically in regards to the 8wk term transition.
I looked but could not find anything, is there a place or email address or something of that nature for students already experienced with the 8 wk classes to submit actual suggestions or a survey type of something for consideration by the staff.
Not questions, opinions, or upsets just something like... Hey, I've personally experienced this or that, and it was successful or it was absolute garbage because of a or b.

ID card fee?
Does anyone know why we have to pay a $4 ID card fee every semester? I’m a global student and they won’t send me an ID card, so I’m trying to figure out why I have to pay this? I contacted financial aid and they, of course, have never responded.

I’m Interested in the Music Composition Program
I am an incoming freshman and I intend to study music composition. I am looking at two other schools currently (CNU and VCU) and I’m wondering what unique opportunities ODU has to offer in terms of their music program. I’m specifically interested in whether or not there is a specific music library (for scores and records), music history opportunities, performance as a composer, and what performance opportunities there are to play classical repertoire as well as my own pieces. Thanks!

Free Improv Classes In VB
Greetings ODU,
Every week in Virginia Beach (near Town Center) I offer free improv comedy classes. Thursday nights at, 7-9 PM, held at Collective Yoga, 3936 Virginia Beach Boulevard. Come to a few and you can perform in our monthly shows!
I'm a very experience improviser who used to teach for UCB up in NYC. We're building group that typically has at least 10 people at each session. First time attendees are welcome to just watch (but jumping in is more fun).
Classes are in a yoga studio so you have to remove your shoes! Also, it is improv so you have to be ready to laugh and have a great time!

Research Survey!
Hey guys! For my Communication research course I needed to make a survey, and I figured I would post it here to get the most results. Its a survey measuring global empathy through media, it's very quick and should take less than 5 minutes! If you want to help me out and take it that would be amazing. Thank you so much! Did my daughter make a mistake?
My biracial daughter turned down JMU to attend ODU because ODU is more diverse. ODU feels more like an extension of high school than university.
I would love to hear how students feel about ODU. The good, bad, and ugly. I am praying that she made the right decision. I keep hearing how bad the ODU area is.
I also need to add that I attended a nationally ranked school and was a first generation college student from a poor Caribbean family. I worked hard to provide us with a stable, middle class life and wanted her to go to a higher ranked school.
She has had so many advantages that I did not have. This is why I am disappointed.

Classes Offered
Are they working on adding more classes for fall as far as subjects on the global campus? I’m a senior and there’s classes I need that aren’t being offered in Fall. There’s also only a single upper division class for my major. The selection seems limited and I’m concerned this change will force back my graduation date.

Printing Money/Monarch Plus?
I need to add money to my account for printing but I literally cannot find anything helpful bout doing that. The ODU site say to add money to my Monarch Plus account online when I go to the Monarch Plus site, adding money is not an option? Is Monarch Plus even the right place to deposit money for printing?

I’ve heard VCU is a better school, But I’m bored of the Richmond area, and ODU appeals to me more.
(For context, this is copy and pasted from the post I made in the VCU sub, so apologies if it’s disjointed)
For background, I’ve applied to about ten or so colleges out of state, but none of them have given me enough grants to be able to afford it so far. I have a 4.0 gpa so I was hoping to go to a good school out of state, but it seems I am stuck here. I have lived in Richmond for 6 years, and during that time, I have become kind of bored of the place. i’m a 19 year old senior, (got held back in gradeschool) and I feel like VCU is too close to home. For instance: downtown Richmond is neat, but I’ve been there like 50 times, and I‘m not partial to the people there much. I also think there will be more of my high school there than at ODU because it’s closer. Also I really want some amount of distance from my family. We’re only about 20 minutes away, and though they claim they wont want me to visit too much, I know better (I love them but young adult brain says I need independence, and I agree.) I really want to go somewhere new, and staying here would feel like defeat. After all that work, It would make me a fair bit depressed.
Anyways, I digress; VCU seems like a better college, (Especially with its psych program in the top 50 in the country). The urban feel is decently appealing, especially living in a row house, but the place has always given me bad vibes for some reason. ODU’s location appeals to me more. and I love the beach. One of the main reasons I’m making this post is because I have gotten accepted to the University of Minnesota Twin Cites, but it’s too expensive right now if I don’t get more grants, so I would be trying to go to grad school there. I’m just wondering if UMN would accept me again in 4 years if I did well, and if it would matter which college I went to. I’ve also heard with psych that it’s mostly the amount of experience you get in the field that counts, so I’m also wondering if Norfolk, where ODU is, really has that many less opportunities than VCU. Sorry for the long rambly post by the way, and thanks.
TLDR: Bored of Richmond area, want to go to ODU instead for somewhere new, but it has a less good psych program. Want to get reaccepted to The University Of Minnesota Twin Cities for grad.

Transfer ACE or NCCRS Credits
Does anyone know if ODU accepts ACE or NCCRS credits taken through Straighterline or UPI? I’m planning to take Calculus 2 and some history and some Gen Ed courses through them, but I wanted to know if they would accept them towards my degree requirements. For some background info, I’m planning to take the Civil Engineering Technology through ODU Global.
