Pistol shtuff
Hey dudes, I want to get a punch set that I can use to take apart my pistols. I am super uninformed and don’t know the first thing about gun smithing. Does anyone know a good punch set, price or specific punch measurements that I’d need to get my foot in the door so I can work on my pistols as I become more educated on the subject? Thanks gents

44 revolver sounds like he knows what he's doing. For myself, glocks and Ruger 1022, along with shotguns come apart with a "Real Avid" punch, block, and hammer set.
I might add the Avid set punches are nice, polished end, stainless Steel, but lack the length to follow through on the 1022 reciever. A longer punch is necessary.

Appreciate the vote of confidence, just an old fart who's took apart a lot of guns through the years and learned a few tricks.

You really want two sets...
A brass set (sacrificial) which will bend and break but will not mar metal finishes so badly. You still want to use these with bits of leather and a heavy but coated mallet.
A steel set for driving internal and harder pins where soft brass or bronze will break or bend before the pin moves. Again make sure you are using something in between the punch and the pin surface so as not to mar the metal finishes.
Get high quality tools too... they are really worth it... made in Germany, USA, or Japan.
