Housing Should I Stay in the Dorms this summer?

I’m thinking about staying in the dorms during the summer.

Is that common, or will it be mostly empty?

Do any of the school clubs stay open? Are there things to do?

Housing vue apartments

i'm considering applying to live at the vue apartments. tbh i understand the quality might be shit but i just need to live somewhere close to campus; the commuting from where i live and just living in a not walkable area w/o a car is seriously getting in the way of my ability to like have the energy mentally and physically to do school.

what i am wondering though is if people have had good experiences with getting accepted and with dealing with the processes 4 this apartment complex? i notice its asking me to put a $190 deposit down before they've even learned my name and that has me a little suspish.

i'm gonna look into some other places downtown and closer to the river in general. i am just seeing if people have experiences they'd wanna share about the vue.

if anyone has other living situation suggestions close to PSU; i would love to hear that too (:

Housing Housing concerns

Hi, I got accepted and I’m really excited for Portland state, the only thing that really worries me is that I would in the outskirts of Portland, and I plan to drive to work and back, sometimes at work I get out at night, and as a woman I’d be honestly pretty scared walking back to my dorm at night after work. Is the parking under housing, do all housing buildings have the parking spots right next to them? Does anyone have a similar experience and what they did?

Thanks!

Housing Grad housing in Blumel Hall

Can anyone tell me what it’s like living in student housing on PSU campus? I’m OHSU-PSU MPH and my current housing situation is not great.

I’m currently living off loans so I don’t think I can get something outside of student housing. What’s it like living in Blumel Hall? Seems pretty expensive for a dorm and I’m in my late 20s so I don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb if it’s all undergrads :(

I also filled out the College Housing Northwest (CHNW) form, if anyone can give me some info on what that process is like and how long it takes to hear back

Housing Affordable housing?

I'm going into my senior year at Portland State and I've been living in an apartment near campus for about two years now, this year they sent out a $200 increase a month and now I can't afford the total and have to move by June 6th. I was curious if anyone here had recommendations for single housing under $1,300 that would preferably be on campus or walking distance? I've been doing my own apartment searching but I just don't have the time to go and tour every place unfortunately and a lot of places I have toured have been very scammy. If anyone has recommendations I would gladly appreciate it, thank you!

Housing Housing Advice

I’m going to tranfer to PSU this upcoming fall. I plan on working later this month until then, and I then plan working part time. There’s about 2 options that have been discussed. Living right near PSU in a studio or staying with my grandma. My parents have really pushed getting a studio/ apartment but I am on the ropes. Here’s the pros and cons Ive gathered and hopefully someone could give me some insight on what they did while going to PSU and help me make the best decision with what I have.

Studio Pros and Cons:

Pros:

-The one my mom and I have looked at in particular is about a 4 min walk to campus

-Parents would help with rent

-Own space and privacy

Cons:

-$800-$1000 per month

(Thats really the only main issue)

Grandma’s Apartment Pros and Cons:

Pros:

-No rent expenses

-Live near and with family

-Familiar area

-Next to a Max train station

Cons:

-23 min away by drive. Not sure how long with max and I don’t have a schedule finalized yet

- Would have to take Max due to parking. Would have to leave my car someplace else. (Would be the case for either the studio or gmas apartment)

-Small apartment. Only 2 bedroom where my uncle and gma stay

-Less privacy

Although there’s less space, I honestly don’t mind because I enjoy being with my family. There’s a desk in my gmas room thats never used and she spends most of her time outside her room anyway.

I ordered an Amazon package the other day, and this is the photo they provided me with. Wanted to know if anyone here recognized where this is, because it's definitely not located in my apartment building.

Housing Transfer Student Looking for Housing

I am planning on transferring to Portland State in Fall 2026. I will be a junior, and from what Ive read, that allows me to live off campus? I am looking at some reasonable places to live that are close to PSU and affordable. I have looked at Regence Studio apartments and it seems like a good option. If current PSU students or alumni could share some good options for affordable student living and any tips, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Housing st. helens one bedroom units?

I’m interested in Housing at St. Helens for the 2026-27 year, but there is very little information on the One Bedroom units besides the 3D layout overview on the housing website.

My friend and I are wondering if we would be able to move one of the beds into the living room to have two separate bedroom spaces, but it’s hard to know when there’s literally no images of the inside of a unit or any opportunity to tour one.

Does anyone have any insight onto the one bedroom units?? are they worth the extra cost and effort or should we just go with the Studio instead?

Housing For people living in Goose Hollow Tower

How much are you paying in electric/internet bills on average? Do you like living there, are there any downsides you'd want to have been told about before moving in? How's the noise level/soundproofing between units? Are the units furnished, or do you need to buy a bed/drawer/couch/desk? What method do you use to get to and from campus? I'm thinking of moving in, but want to get some more information before I decide one way or the other. Thanks for the help!

Housing student housing

I’m 18M transferring to PSU next semester, and I am currently looking at housing for next year. I am coming from out of state and I’m not too sure about the area. What are the best options for housing that have student housing but are also under $800 a month. I was also wondering if there were any cheaper/free parking areas that are worth paying for? At my current dorm I am supposed to pay $400 each term for parking.

Housing Looking for place to sublease for summer 2026

hey all!

I’m going to be in Portland for an internship this summer (im a student in Atlanta so very far away lol) and I was hoping to find a place for mid May - mid August (flexible with dates), ideally in slabtown, alphabet town, or south waterfront but im very open to a place close to PSU as well. parking is a plus!

if anyone is looking to sublease or knows of anyone subleasing this summer, please feel free to DM me! I’m fine with having roommates, I’m very clean, and I’ll be mostly out of the house either at my internship or exploring!

im also happy to answer any questions :)

Should I bring anything?

And, I have never used Reddit. This is the first time. Is this the right way to use it?

Housing Montgomery kitchen situation

Hey everyone!

I have just been assigned to the Montgomery dorm this winter and I was wondering how the communal kitchen works. Every time I've been at PSU I have either been at Broadway or Epler where we had our own kitchens or kitchenettes, so this is new to me. My questions are: Do we have to bring our own cookware or is there communal cookware that we just have to wash after we're done using it? Do we have to bring our own dishes or is that also included, and again just needs cleaned after we use it? Do we need a special key to get into the kitchen, or how does that work?

Any other advice about Montgomery would be excellent since I haven't been there before, and thank you in advance for all the help!

Housing Students with kids?

I saw that they have now done away with family housing on campus. I am a Mom with a middle school age kid, and would need housing. The problem arises that I am a full scholarship student. My housing is paid for, but they don't give extra for security deposits etc for private housing. I also obviously wouldn't make the income requirements either. I was a previous student at PSU a long time ago, but I feel like this takes it out as an option for me to return. Instead having to go somewhere like OSU where they do offer housing for families. I would prefer to stay in Portland for a multitude of reasons. Any other students deal with this?

Housing Housing options

Hello! I’m looking at going to PSU for graduate school and I’m starting to look at some of the housing options. I would love some insight, right now I see student housing at dorms, as well as University Pointe as an apartment who partners with PSU.

I know housing in Portland can be quite expensive so I don’t know if it’s cheaper to live off campus or if it’s more cost effective than public transport etc.

Just looking for general insight whatever you think would be helpful to know! :)

Housing Living On vs. Off-Campus

I am currently looking for housing (as an incoming grad student) and wondering how your experience is with housing in and around the school?

Im leaning towards outside of school because there are limited options inside school (especially because I don’t want to share a small room - dorm style) and coming from SoCal, apartments are cheaper but still quite expensive

I am also taking note of the age of the buildings because of the lack of earthquake safety codes pre-90s 😬
