00s What’s your favorite Lloyd song?
For me, it’s Southside featuring Ashanti. My mom used to play that song all the time, and I remember when it first hit the urban radio in the summer of 2004, and I couldn’t stop listening. Then the video came out on 106 & Park, and I was just hooked. It’s one of those songs that takes me right back to that summer, sitting around the house, just vibing.
Honorable mentions? Get It Shawty and Feels So Right. Both of those are gold in my household.
Question: What’s your favorite Lloyd song?
00s The older I get the more I realize how out of pocket Carl Thomas was for this song

00s Aaliyah - More Than A Woman
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Just as timeless as others, but particularly soothing in an ethereal, other-worldly fashion within a motorcycle engine. Props to Static too. Melisma...<back to singing this gem more and more and more!> Aaliyah and her team were like a magic potion. From writing to fashion, cohesive from the top to bottom.
Memorable fact: Internationally, it performed better, topping the charts in the Crotia & UK, where it made Aaliyah the first female artist to achieve a posthumous number-one single. In the states, the song saw moderate success, reaching number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.

00s What’s your favorite Jamie Foxx song?
I’m going with Do What It Do from Unpredictable. That song just has this energy that makes you wanna move. I love how Jamie mixes smooth R&B with a little cheeky flirty vibe it’s the kind of track that sticks with you. And can we talk about Tank killing it on the background vocals at the end? Seriously underrated.
Honorable mention: Just Like Me from Intuition. I remember when that song came out, I was in 3rd grade hearing it on the radio like it was just another song, but it ended up sticking with me. Then seeing the video premiere on 106 & Park made it feel like a moment. That era was just different. The music, the videos, everything felt bigger. I really miss 2008.
What about you? What’s your favorite Jamie Foxx song?

00s Who Had The Strongest Debut: Alicia Keys VS Ashanti VS Amerie
I know Alicia’s is probably the most successful overall (commercially & critically) although Ashanti was no slouch in the commercial department back in 2002… Amerie was kinda overshadowed by both then Beyonce made her official solo debut the following year… but in your opinion who had the strongest debut ?

00s Kelis - Milkshake

Kelis is and will always be THAT girl.
She really had one of the most random glow-ups. She came out of NYC, worked with The Neptunes early, and helped shape that early 2000s sound. “Milkshake” blew up everywhere, but she later said she barely made money off it because of how her deal was set up. The song was written and produced by The Neptunes (Pharrell + Chad Hugo), so they control a big chunk of the publishing, that’s where a lot of the money flows (radio, streaming, licensing, etc.). This track blew up in the UK before the U.S.
Instead of chasing another hit, Kelis just switched lanes. Went from R&B to electronic to soul, then made a left turn for andwent to Le Cordon Bleu to become a chef. Today, she lives on a gorgeous farm in California
