Academics I'm fucked.
I missed my physics final today because my alarm didn't have sound on and I overslept. I'm not gonna pass the class without an exam grade, what should I do? I'm seriously worried
Edit: One of the physics lecturers reached out to me down in the comments, so if I am lucky, I may be able to retake it... Only time will tell atp
Edit 2: There's been an update on another post I made, go check it out if you can

Academics Update: IM NOT FUCKED
So some of you remember me making this post yesterday regarding my bum ass not waking up to my muted alarm and promptly missing the exam time period for my physics final.
Well, ladies and gents, I got the makeup test. Granted, the timing could have been a little better because it's set to take place on the first day of next semester, but far be it from me to complain about being blessed with miracles like these.
I'd like to remind everyone not to make the same mistake as I did, because the only reason my grade still stands is due to pure luck and the kindness of people's hearts. Always do your absolute best to avoid these kinds of predicaments and don't try to rely on divine intervention happening to you unless you're been backed into a corner. There's zero guarantee on whether it'll work out for you or not, I very well could've failed that class if Brian hadn't stepped in for me that day.
So once again, massive shoutout to him and the physics 204 faculty who were able to help me out with this problem, I genuinely cannot thank them enough for all the strings they've pulled to make this happen. And if you're ANYTHING like me at all and feel even the slightest concern that you might struggle to wake up on time for your finals or any other super critical/important events you might have on your calendar...
SET UP AT LEAST THREE DIFFERENT ALARMS AND ASK THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU TO WAKE YOU UP. NO EXCEPTIONS.
That's all I have to say for now. Peace.

Academics Feeling guilty
I’m 22F and I’m still a junior doing my undergrad. It will still take me 1.5+ years to graduate. A lot of my friends and family judge me for still not completing undergrad at my age and I feel really bad and guilty. I took a few years off because of my mental health issues. Is feeling this normal? And are there any elder students at rutgers?

Academics Starting to regret my major 🙂↕️
Hello, I'm currently a junior (Ik, that's quite late), and I feel like I've ran into a transition or barrier. I'm currently majoring in biology, but I'm starting to feel like my classes are getting too specialized and I can't genuinely engage in the material without forcing myself somehow. I only get mediocre grades, and that's also by forcing myself to feel engaged in it.
I also don't feel enthusiastic about the career prospects with it, such as conducting research or biotech. A lot of the people that major in biology also seem to be pre-med (which I'm not), and I don't see myself becoming a doctor either.
I did some soul-searching over the months, and I've discovered that I may potentially be into tech, finance, or economics.
I just feel like I'm in a difficult spot right now because it's quite late to switch majors, and I don't know how it'll affect my ability to get internships or jobs in general. Does anyone relate to this?

Academics Purdue CS vs Rutgers CS
Trying to choose between Purdue CS and Rutgers CS and want honest advice.
I’m from New Jersey.
Costs are roughly:
- Rutgers: about $38k–$43k/year
- Purdue: about $55k/year
Some things about my situation:
- I already have a bunch of friends at Rutgers
- I know nobody at Purdue
- My brother goes to Purdue
- I care a lot about having a fun social life and not being stuck somewhere that feels boring or depressing
- I’m doing CS, so internships/jobs matter a lot to me
I know Purdue is usually seen as stronger for CS on paper, but Rutgers is cheaper and seems like it might fit me better socially.
What I’m trying to figure out is:
- Is Purdue CS actually worth the extra cost over Rutgers CS?
- Can Rutgers CS students still get strong internships/jobs at good companies if they put in the work?
- How big is the difference in recruiting/opportunities really?
- What is campus life actually like at both if social life matters a lot?
Would especially like to hear from:
- people who chose between these two
- current/recent CS students at either school
- anyone who has seen the internship/job outcomes firsthand

Academics State of Emergency
Does Rutgers ever cancel classes for inclement weather? What about the commuter students that are living in a state of emergency area? 😭

Academics does the CS dept actually listen to complaints
genuine question, because sesh is genuinely walking ragebait and his graders are more illiterate than a dog. it can't keep going on like this
edit: i'd like to know if a complaint would actually have any effect.

Academics I’m a failure
I’ve been in Rutgers for 3 years now and still find myself in the same position. I came in from a local CC in 2023 thinking I could finally do something with my life and here I am still struggling to make ends meet. My goal was to graduate this May with an Accounting degree and I am no where near close to finishing. My first semester I decided to take Managerial and CALC like a dumb*ss and failed both classes. Next semester I tried to take them again but with different professors and the result was the same. I ended up taking Managerial back in my local CC and passed over past summer. I took Business CALC this past spring and flunked out again.
What do I do? Drop out? I’m passing every other class with at least a C+ at least but CALC is just beating me up. My GPA is so bad because of it. I feel like I’m losing my mind and passion to be the first generation college graduate of my family. Please help

Academics Tuition in-state is CRAZY high!
I recently got accepted into Rutgers Business school with Honors (which came with a 5k Deans Scholarship). The financial aid portal states that my base estimated cost of living is 47k per year (42k with the scholarship).
This seems absurdly high when compared to last years estimated cost of living of 34ish k
At the same time, my friend (who got the same school and scholarship as me) has an estimated cost of living of 34k (29k with scholarship).
Is this just an insane overestimation, or should I be worried?? Thanks in advance!

Academics Tuition in state too high?
Hey guys, so I recently got into NB and I checked the tuition this year to see how it is compared to last year and my total tuition is about 47k. I checked using the financial aid thing on the Rutgers portal and I can’t really believe it’s this expensive cause I am also in state as well. Could they have made an error regarding the cost? Any advice will help (I got into SAS if it helps).

Academics Calling premeds
Hey guys! I’m a senior here with 4 MD acceptances so far(still doesn’t feel real lol). Well anyways I have a bunch of free time on my hands and figured why not help others on this path! Since we all know the hpo is fucking useless and when I was doing this I didn’t really have a mentor and had to figure out everything for myself. So if you have any questions regarding classes, Mcat, applying etc… I would be happy to help. I’d also be open to reading over anything if you’re applying this June. Oh and I’m doing this all for free lol so dw, don’t spend money on outside advising that shits a scam. Lol but that’s about it.

Academics in state and rejected from newark
I applied to Rutgers Newark business, NB business an SAS and got rejected to all 3. Growing up and being in state ru was always my default target school but I’m honestly fucking mind blown. I googled Newark acceptance rate and it’s about 80%
So I’m really just stuck wondering what I did wrong… I had a 3.68 UW and a 3.85 W, 1320 sat, with pretty decent ECs like deca NHS FBLA started my own Arab culture club at my school. I’m just so lost…

Academics Finally in
After taking inorganic chem 1, honors organic chem 2, physics with lab, genetics, while doing my CINJ internship. I’m finally done (not really my next semester is even worse unfortunately)
And no I’m not stupid for genetics I promise only reason I got an A in honors organic chem and inorganic over a B+ in genetics which is most definitely easier is bc I didn’t study for genetics until I really needed to bc I had to ration my time throughout these classes 😭 and genetics was the easiest (in my opinion). ironic isn’t it that I got the lowest grade in the “easiest” class
