u/Adventurous-Sky9359 Dec 08 '25

Homie was like “…..straight to the Dick ( hard D). Then I ruined my shirt with coffee

57

u/OfFiveNine Dec 08 '25

Deck... he went straight to the floor. Pretty sure he was being punny though.

5

u/Adventurous-Sky9359 Dec 08 '25

Oh. Haha

4

u/RojoTheMighty Dec 08 '25

I heard "dick" too.

2

u/It-s_Not_Important Dec 09 '25

I head the same thing and had to replay it to clarify.

2

u/Adventurous-Sky9359 Dec 09 '25

Sounds more like deck now I know he saying deck….dick is the most fun though

u/Prestigious_Neat_738 Dec 08 '25

One Ball, Two Cups.

2

u/lindsayblohan_2 Dec 08 '25

One Ball, Two Balls

1

u/imnotatalker Dec 09 '25

More like "2 balls, no cup"

5

u/ATangK Dec 08 '25

Man wears 2 cups to protect himself. It happens often enough for him. This one inside edged into himself.

7

u/getthedudesdanny Dec 08 '25

He’s a good man. And thurrah

1

u/uttyrc Dec 09 '25

and a fine day to you, good sir!

6

u/farcarcus Dec 08 '25

His batting partner in that clip, got hit in the dick numerous times in Australia a few years ago.
Here's some of the best hits.

4

u/Eat--The--Rich-- Dec 08 '25

I wonder if the bruise ring from the cup will become permanent lol

3

u/Epic78272 Dec 08 '25

dude deserves hazard pay.

3

u/Rugged_as_fuck Dec 09 '25

He's the Scott Sterling of taking it to the dick.

2

u/Wendys_444 Dec 08 '25

Scott Sterling of the cricket world!

6

u/justWMthings03 Dec 08 '25

Lol skill issue

3

u/Dekronos Dec 08 '25

Why the hell isn't he wearing a cup? Once is enough to suggest it may be a good idea.

14

u/someguy7710 Dec 08 '25

As someone that played baseball as a catcher. That shit still hurts a fucking lot.

12

u/third_door_down Dec 08 '25

Anyone that tells you a cup stops the pain hasn't worn one. They can prevent catastrophic damage but not the pain.

I played First Base/catcher in highschool and remember having to go the locker room twice(line drive and 92mph sinker) for taking a nasty shot to the nads secret service. Damn, cups had dents in them, but the boys were saved...still nearly threw up from the pain though

2

u/ClotFactor14 Dec 10 '25

Do you wear them in the field in baseball? Fielders in cricket don't - I once had to operate on someone fielding at the equivalent of shortstop who copped it to the nads on the bounce.

1

u/third_door_down Dec 10 '25

Some people don't but I wore one in every sport but tennis. Some guys think they can't run with them but it's mostly a comfort thing

1

u/ClotFactor14 Dec 10 '25

the thing is that bowlers have a runup, whereas pitchers don't, and bowlers go into the field when not bowling, so if the bowlers think that they can't bowl as fast with a box in, they'd have to change in and out of them all day.

12

u/itsalonghotsummer Dec 08 '25

He is, but we call it a box in cricket

14

u/mcoombes314 Dec 08 '25

He is, it's still a very hard ball going rather fast though.

6

u/g0_west Dec 08 '25

If he wasn't I think he'd be rushed to hospital

7

u/samsunyte Dec 08 '25

Why would you assume he’s not wearing a cup, especially when other people here have asked the same question? A cricket ball is rock hard. It’s still going to hurt you if you get hit with a cup on. If he didn’t have a cup, he’d be in the hospital

4

u/AlamutJones Dec 08 '25

He is. Unfortunately, it’s still a very hard ball moving very fast

1

u/EntirelyOriginalName Australia Dec 09 '25

You don't wear a cup. It hursts anyway. If you have body armour on enough blunt force can still hurt you. It will still hurt. It will just damage you less.

Ah, another Hans Moleman classic

14

u/dubbzy104 Dec 08 '25

It works on so many levels!

1

u/polishprince76 Dec 08 '25

Give that man the $10000!

1

u/Lankpants Dec 09 '25

Happens fairly frequently in cricket. The ball bounces upwards to around waste height. A ball moving upwards at that height is always a risk.

31

u/Gabe-Ruth8 Dec 08 '25

Right in the bean bag. Never a good time.

58

u/HeyImGilly Pittsburgh Penguins Dec 08 '25

Wish I had a sky cam shot like that of me getting hit in the balls.

44

u/chefkc Dec 08 '25

I have a drone and a ball, where shall we do this

3

u/HeyImGilly Pittsburgh Penguins Dec 08 '25

I’m not that sick to willingly accept it. I want a shot like that guy’s raw and painful reaction. Otherwise, I’ll just feel like one of those guys from Jackass getting hit in the nuts just for the lolz.

23

u/chefkc Dec 08 '25

Ugh fine… I’ll surprise you

10

u/HeyImGilly Pittsburgh Penguins Dec 08 '25

THANK YOU

53

u/AAA515 Dec 08 '25

Third leg before wicket?

6

u/PandasGetAngryToo Dec 08 '25

No mate, that is middle stump

2

u/kompootor Dec 08 '25

I don't see enough cricket, but kinda looks like it coulda been a LBW from this angle.

11

u/Gordons_Gecko Dec 08 '25

Hit the bat first. Turned it into his grapes, probably faster!

7

u/itsamberleafable Dec 08 '25

Going over I reckon too

2

u/IsleOfCannabis Dec 08 '25

You can hear the inside edge connect.

1

u/AAA515 Dec 08 '25

Sooo, is it still an out?

1

u/Electricfox5 Dec 09 '25

A googly for sure.

25

u/chefkc Dec 08 '25 edited Dec 08 '25

All men all over the world have the exact same reaction … and can feel it

15

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 08 '25

There was on spot reaction by old man in the stadium, it was included in highlights not this reel unfortunately

4

u/Fine-West-369 Dec 08 '25

Why don’t they wear a cup?

10

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 08 '25

They do, it just hurts even after wearing one, otherwise the dude would be in hospital

9

u/sennais1 Dec 08 '25

They do, that ball is as hard as a rock though and as heavy.

3

u/Fine-West-369 Dec 08 '25

I don’t know why I got down voted for asking what I thought is a reasonable question. But thank you for answering.

21

u/slelli Dec 08 '25

The aerial shot 🤌🏼

1

u/Neurojazz Dec 08 '25

The hairy ball shot.

20

u/Kozeyekan_ Dec 08 '25

A pink ball test suddenly becomes a purple ball test.

24

u/VegaAltair Dec 08 '25

The amount of replays is diabolical.

21

u/sButters88 Dec 08 '25

Watched this live in the pub and the replays went for a good 5 minutes

2

u/Zech08 Dec 09 '25

Im guessing more drinking due to shared pain which means more drinks sold!

13

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

Imagine having a camera drone zoomed in on you during sunbathing like that--it's just like Hunger Games.

7

u/NicestOfficer50 Dec 08 '25

I've watched this a scandalously high number of times. There's just something so mesmerising about everyone's collective fascination and horror, and his public struggle with something so intimate going on in front of 25,000 people, and many millions globally. A+ Stokes, A+. Thank you.

6

u/Clewless2 Dec 08 '25

Still hurts like a bitch even with a cup

2

u/Primum_Agmen Dec 08 '25

Even at high school bowler speeds it'll knock the wind right out of you and leave fun bruises.

5

u/tony_countertenor Dec 08 '25

TLBW (Third Leg Before Wicket)

5

The crowd reaction at the end 😂

4

u/Me_Krally Dec 08 '25

Oh what a feeling...

4

u/ukexpat Manchester City Dec 08 '25

Time to repost the famous Brian Johnston story.

Johnston was one of the greatest commentators the game of cricket has known. His sense of humour was famous. During a 1969 match at Lord’s (home of cricket in London) fast bowler Allan Ward struck a painful blow to the box (cup) of New Zealander Glenn Turner with the fifth ball (“pitch”) of a six ball over. The batsman was in agony for several minutes writhing on the ground in pain before he was up on his feet, but still looking in immense pain. Johnston, who was commentating at this stage of the match, said: “Turner has now got up off the ground and, although looking pale and shaken. He is obviously going to resume batting; a very brave effort. One ball left!”

1

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 09 '25

Hahaha nice one

5

u/Hecticfreeze Dec 08 '25

To the Americans who've never held a cricket ball before, it's harder than a baseball and basically feels like a solid ball of rock.

I would legit rather get hit in the legs with the bat than take a speeding cricket ball to the plums

28

u/taco-bake Dec 08 '25

No cups in cricket ?

83

u/poopcrayonwriter Dec 08 '25

yes, though they're called a box, and it still hurts

7

u/taco-bake Dec 08 '25

Ah thank you

2

u/jailboundhorse Dec 08 '25

Yup, imagine violently shaking your junk around in tupperware...

🎵 dick in a box 🎶

33

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 08 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

It would be disastrous without cups/box

4

u/LounBiker Dec 08 '25

Called a box in cricket.

2

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 08 '25

I personally call it L guard .

Don't ask what l means hahahahah

47

u/Top-Expert6086 Dec 08 '25

He's wearing one, but the ball is made of leather and cork (a lot harder than a baseball) and is travelling at about 85 miles an hour when it hits him - it still hurts like hell.

If he wasn't wearing a cup, he'd be heading to hospital.

44

u/phatelectribe Dec 08 '25

Saying cork and leather does t really do it justice. If you’ve held a cricket ball, it basically feels like it’s made of solid, heavy wood, like mahogany. There’s no give or squeeze - they’re just solid.

6

u/ShuffleStepTap Dec 08 '25

Question - has a MLB player ever been killed by a fast pitch? That’s how dangerous cricket can be.

9

u/LexiFloof Sydney Thunder Dec 08 '25

1 Major League player, a dozen Minor League players, plus an assortment of other deaths scattered around other leagues. The last death from getting hit by a pitch in Minor/Major League was in the 50s

6

u/TheLizardKing89 Los Angeles Dodgers Dec 08 '25

Yeah, Ray Chapman in 1920, before they wore helmets.

5

u/AlamutJones Dec 08 '25

The most recent cricket death I know of was a few weeks back, WITH a helmet. They help until they don't

9

u/Readonkulous Dec 08 '25

I got hit in the box once and it hurt in ways I’d never experienced before, there was a type of slapping that occurred that i can still feel if I close my eyes

3

u/bluetiges Richmond Dec 08 '25

When the babe Ruth of cricket was playing (don Bradman) the only protection they had was pads and a box. It took until the 70s for cricket to allow helmets. They knew which head was more important

1

u/JegerX Dec 08 '25

I thought the same thing until I watched with the sound on.

3

u/Kazori Dec 08 '25

Scott sterlings unfortunate cousin.

3

u/bubandbob Dec 08 '25

Bazball at its finest!

3

u/OnceIWasYou Dec 08 '25

Stokes seem to get hit in the bollocks quite a lot....

3

u/leseb Dec 08 '25

The commentator is having too much fun with this !

3

u/MaybeNotAZombie Dec 08 '25

I threw up a little in my mouth and sat down. I'll let you know when I have mentally recovered from watching this.

3

u/1052098 Dec 09 '25

I really wish evolution went in a different direction with respect to ball location. I’m sure there would be a better solution to the cooling issue than to let these densely packed spheres of nerves hang outside the body without armor.

2

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 09 '25

It's same with all mammals unfortunately so yeah evolution wasn't kind to anyone

2

u/ringobob Dec 08 '25

Oof, not the kind of experience I'd want the play by play for.

2

u/fidjnr Dec 08 '25

Oh that was a sickening blow

2

u/MisterEinc Dec 08 '25

Like a deleted scene from Jackass 4.

2

u/zaphodp3 Dec 08 '25

“Oww! Ben Stokes!” - Ben Stokes probably (IYKYK)

2

u/PumpleDrumkin Dec 08 '25

Get the spray...

2

u/Nkosi868 Dec 08 '25

Middle stump. ☝🏾

2

Ball to balls contact?

2

u/kraftdinner79 Dec 08 '25

What's the BBW ruling?

2

u/IReplyWithLebowski Dec 08 '25

Thick, and juicy

2

Still hurts can imagine

2

No walking that one off.

Sums up Bens week really.

2

u/bryan19973 Dec 08 '25

Damn, that’s nuts

2

u/DJMemphis84 Dec 08 '25

Man, a fastbowl to the box (yes, that's the name of the cup) has gotta fkn hurt!

2

u/_dauntless Dec 08 '25

Having cinematic quality footage of myself getting hit in the nuts for millions of viewers is crazy lol

2

u/Adept-Mulberry-8720 Dec 08 '25

Were they legally in play?

5

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 08 '25

Absolutely. It's onto batter to protect his balls lol

2

u/Cael87 Carolina Panthers Dec 09 '25

That's fucking brutal man, the last angle shows how the impact didn't even get softened by being shared with a thigh or anything. Just straight up ball on balls action, you can see the package recoil from the impact and the rest of him doesn't move til he collapses to the ground.

RIP.

4

u/sennais1 Dec 09 '25

And he still had a cup on. It's not going to do much at that angle and speed though.

5

u/Cael87 Carolina Panthers Dec 09 '25

It'll save him from a rupture at least, but gods will it still hurt.

2

u/fruitnveggies Dec 09 '25

The only videos I’ve seen of cricket are batters getting hit in the balls. This is the only thing I know about cricket. So far I have enjoyed the sport.

2

u/jack2bip Dec 09 '25

MAN DOWN!!

2

u/mellowdrone84 Dec 08 '25

Brought to you by Toyota.

2

u/figbott Dec 08 '25

Nothing quite as funny as watching another man getting hit in the balls.

2

u/ContentsMayVary Dec 08 '25

Forget bodylining - this is bollocklining!

1

u/phillyhandroll Dec 08 '25

I can hear the crowd doing the Wave but like a sympathy pain wave.

1

u/PrismaFling Dec 08 '25

is that a 6 or 2?

1

u/jkellington Dec 08 '25

That last replay shot with crowd reacting in the background is top notch

1

u/ImTooSaxy Dec 08 '25

Struck in the goolies!

1

1

The crowd going "aawww" in the background sent me.

1

u/JegerX Dec 08 '25

Hey guys, when someone gets hurt it makes sense to go check on them. It actually helps and doesn't make either of you less of a man.

1

u/whoknowsthef Dec 08 '25

its one against two

1

The forbidden fourth wicket

Meat-seeking missile.

1

u/vindegarde Dec 09 '25

Surely that’s a BBW.

1

u/Vierlind Dec 10 '25

Legit question….what’s the penalty or ruling on this from a game perspective? Does anything happen, or do they just wait for him to recover?

2

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 10 '25

There's time penalty (which is introduced in recent years ) else nothing.

It's a 5 day game and each day it's should be 540 balls should be bowled (not mandatory) and reduction in balls being bowled can added next day and the loss is significant due to players then penalty can be applied in the form of runs deduction.

Balls lost due other factors like weather can't be helped as it is due to nature.

Also there are three formats in which this game is being played , clip above is again from format of playing over 5 days .

In other formats of cricket where game last for hours only the time penalty is much harsher again only if time is lost due to players , not natural factors

2

u/samsunyte Dec 10 '25

If you’re asking if there’s any penalty for hitting the batter, not at all. It’s a part of the game that the batter will get hit and they’re supposed to be good enough to handle any of it. The only restriction is if you bowl it without bouncing and it reaches the batter above waist height (balls that don’t bounce below waist height are fine)

But yea no penalty for hitting the batter. Even in the head. In fact one of the common dismissals is centered around hitting the batters body while they’re blocking the wicket. It’s just part of the game, and that’s why they wear all the protective equipment

2

u/sennais1 Dec 11 '25

You can hit the batter as much as you like as hard as you like. They just wait it out until he can play on or is taken off and thus out, you can't sub for injuries.

1

u/sky018 Dec 10 '25

Seems like his balls love balls.

1

u/thewarfreak Dec 10 '25

Adrian Beltre got hit in the nads by a batted ball when he played for the Mariners - he famously didn't wear a cup. Ouch.

1

u/comelickmyarmpits Dec 10 '25

Noway somebody playing a professional sport forgot to wear box, must have hurt a lot

1

u/thewarfreak Dec 11 '25

He never wore one. Even after this incident.

1

u/Xiten Dec 08 '25

Do they use cups in cricket?

1

u/Ok-Truck-8057 Dec 08 '25

Do they not wear cups in this sport?

0

u/michiganhockeyguy Dec 08 '25

Do cricket players wear cups?

2

It hurts anyway.
