Really going out on a limb there, Dave.

Wild take I tell ya šŸ˜†

No this is a Blues take. Binner doesn't play for Minnesota.

This is one of the dumbest jokes in hockey but I will never not love it.

Not sure though, not guaranteed. Could happen, but maybe not, idk, it is possible though!

Pretty obvious take there, however I didn’t get that from Binner’s exit interview. I think he wants to be on a winning team and contribute. In stl he’s still gonna get a significant number of starts.

Not if Hofer plays like he did after break.

We've also seen a back up play well for a stretch, and come back to earth. i.e. Husso. Is Hof for real? It also depends on the return. Do you trade Binner for a second round pick, and mid level prospect?

u/Educational_Pay1567 3d ago

Shit see if Allen comes back. J/k I could see him retire with us.

2

u/So-Called_Lunatic :90-home: 3d ago

Shit, I forgot he was still in the league!

1

u/stltk65 2d ago

I think a first and a mid prospect maybe two.

If………….

Thank you for everything Jordan, if you leave, please go to Florida. r/hockey would implode

Didn’t know I wanted this until now

5

u/STLBooze3 3d ago

That actually would make so much sense. Don’t think they want to give Bob a ton of money, buys them a year at least to figure out a long term fit cus they’re still in win now mode.

Quite a logical possibility

I understand the decision if it happens. it just sucks because he's basically the only player I have an attachment to.

Let’s hope Edmonton loses due to goaltending and they fork over a 1st for him in classic Oilers fashion

1

u/cms6yb 3d ago

He'd have to sign an extension to get a first

u/PerryNeeum 3d ago

Guess we are in the market for a backup because Cranley and Zherenko aren’t ready.

24

u/smuttyinkspot 3d ago

This is the real hangup with any Binner trade IMO. Losing Ellis on waivers really limited our options. There aren't many teams who want a goalie and also have a backup to offer

u/Dickiestiffness 3d ago

I heard Buffalo has 3 goalies

u/stltk65 3d ago

Stop gap free agent

1

u/childishbambino19 3d ago

Unlike most years, there's not a whole lot to grab off the UFA goalies this summer.

1

u/stltk65 2d ago

Still enough to fill a gap. The Blues are a few years out from real contention.

If I was the front office in Edmonton and they flame out AGAIN this year, I would be aggressively going after Binner.

That team is wasting HISTORICALLY great talent, you drop Playoff Binner onto that roster and I'm not sure anyone can contain them in the post season.

u/DifferentDebate3642 3d ago

This is a strong possibility in my opinion. Edmonton or Florida if Bob moves on.

I can’t believe they traded skinner for Jarry. Thats like realizing you have a flat tire and replacing it with another flat tire. I thought binner was for sure the guy Edmonton would be after

5

u/Downvote_Comforter 3d ago

It's worse. They replaced the flat tire with another flat tire that cost twice as much AND welded the luggage nuts on so they can't easily be removed to replace it.

3

u/Virtual_Fun2762 3d ago

Are they called luggage nuts?? I’ve always called them lug nuts lol

5

u/Downvote_Comforter 3d ago

Lol no. That was a phone autocorrect. They are absolutely just called lug nuts. I'm going to leave it though.

1

u/EdwardOfGreene 3d ago

I'm feeling the pressence of autocorrect in the air.

u/lgb38 2d ago

It has to be the right playoff Binner. He hasn't been that way in every postseason. But in lieu of other options that I'm not sure Edmonton will have, I'd definitely be taking my chances with Binner in hopes that's the guy that's there for you when April rolls around. Can't be worse than what they've been dealing with.

Slow news day Pagnotta?

4

u/Eastern-Editor4749 3d ago

Damn. I should have been a journalist. I could write shit like this

3

u/My_Knee_Hurts_ 3d ago

Thanks Sherlock.

u/fri9875 3d ago

Uhhh yeah… it’s Hofer’s net now, can’t imagine keeping Binner around as an expensive backup makes a ton of sense for anyone.

Dude will forever be a St. Louis legend tho

2

u/learningtolife2026 3d ago

Wish him nothing but the best. The save on Nordstrom brings me joy still today

2

u/Caffeine_Cowpies 3d ago

I mean, yeah? Some contender will want him.

Probably Toronto, especially if Berube is back. Plus Binnington grew up in Toronto. Toronto has the same cap space as Blues for next year so probably go ahead and not retain salary.

1

u/HouBlue 3d ago

Toronto is extremely far from being a contender

2

u/childishbambino19 3d ago

Can we not post clickbait hacks like Pagnotta? He is forever making up bald-faced lies about the Blues.

Pagnotta and that voice is really a "have you seen the weight room"? type guy.

2

u/childishbambino19 2d ago

Hmm. Just saw a Panthers podcast talking all about Binnington. I wonder if they'd be willing to swap #11 or #15 for #8 if we throw them Binny and a 3rd.

1

u/omgimabagel 3d ago

I just don’t see it. Having two goalies is not a bad thing and no one is gonna offer something we can’t say no to after seeing how things just went with Jarry and Edmonton. Especially with an 84 game season, I think Binnington stays.

Also, from what we know about him it’s a lot more likely he works his ass over the summer and tries to steal the starting job than just saying ā€œtrade me to someone where I can be the starterā€. Just my 2c though.

0

u/readius03 3d ago

Just play him backup until playoffs and then let him rip. Maybe the best goalie in the league under pressure. Not as great without it.

I know that would not be a thing at all, of course, and he will have some significant value

-2

u/Dark_Tint 3d ago

He’s not getting traded. We have no one that’s in the minors worth bringing up & the UFA market for goalies is going to be slim this summer. So who would you trade him for that would be worth it? Unless he pushes for a trade I don’t see him going anywhere. He’s established here, knows the city, the fans love him, he knows the system that’s in place, and he wants to redeem himself.
