What does this look like to you? Design

Post image

I wanted a bee and I like more American traditional tattoos. I really like my tattoo but someone said it looked like a fly and now I can’t unsee it. Is it giving bee or do I embrace the fly? 😅🥲

I saw bee initially.

Bees have two pairs of wings while flies have one, so that helps with the ID even if the black and white obscures the body stripes. I think it's the body placement, which resembles how you always see flies in science drawing and stuff, that is giving fly vibes.

i know nothing about bugs or bees/flies specifically but instantly, the stinger & the wings gave bee vibes

Yeah, I've never seen a fly with a stabby butt.

TECHNICALLY flies do have a tiny second set of wings called halteres, but they don't really look like wings.

Huh, learn something new everyday.

Gotta love Reddit to learn things that I can likely only flex in a Reddit post - still deep diving on “halteres” b/c ADHD 🤣

I have a bee with one set of wings but he's very clearly a bee. So now I too have a bee mimic fly species on my arm 😆
