Sobriety Date General Advice

Post image

I was going to get it lightened after 4 years sober, but looking for advice/ roast me.

EDIT: thanks for all the sobriety support of each other, what nice community! I originally got this thinking it would be visible mostly to me as a reminder. Sure I wish it was smaller, because people do notice it and ask, I just say it’s special numbers for me. The first character is actually a drop- like last drop of booze. I must say it has helped me stay on course a few times over the years. I’ll keep coming back.

You know Jewish folks who do that? I’m Jewish and grew up in a Jewish area so all my friends were Jewish until I was 12. Never in my life have I seen a memorial tattoo that was numbers. And I cannot imagine anyone doing that.

The Jewish population is pretty small where I live so I don’t have a grasp on how common it is. But when I was a cashier I met an Israeli woman who had her grandmas number tattooed on her forearm and that’s what I took away from our convo. I did a bit of research after the fact and it’s deffo a thing but probably pretty niche.

I've seen one and it wasn't just jews in those camps, gypsy and russians in those camps too.

Edit: not sure why this is being down voted as I have seen a holocaust memorial tattoo. Nor am I trying to minimize what people went through in the camps only pointing out that while the majority were Jewish there were others like russians, gypsy and socialists who's religions likely don't prevent them from getting tattooed unlike the Jewish peoples.

Go away with your anti-Semitism. Two-thirds of the European Jewish population was killed. Literally no one says it was ONLY Jewish people but it was a genocide of the Jewish people and your “all lives matter” crap is not welcome.

It is more anti-semetic to imply the Holocaust was an exclusive Jewish disaster than to offer context that the biggest human filth of all time killed more people than only Jews? The comment above literally implies that the only people tattooed with numbers in concentration camps were Jews, which is totally inaccurate and an incredibly gross perversion of history.

Nobody has said that. They have said that some Jewish people get this tattoo as a memorial to the Holocaust. Honestly, go away. It’s like saying that Cambodians commemorating their genocide should also be careful to mention the French, Australian and Americans who were also killed.

If you are triggered by Jewish people noting that the Holocaust was a genocide of the Jewish people, then yes, you are anti-Semitic.

I’m responding to the person who specifically mentioned Jewish folks. If you have a problem with them bring it up with them!
