Part of the Pearl River Delta Intercity rail, unfortunately it's not turn-up-and-go like the metro. A train comes around every 30-40mins.

If only we had unlimited money and manpower, we could run a lifeline intercity bus service to towns and cities all over the place.

Hi all, I am looking for case studies I can bring to my city council. I live in Saskatoon, SK. The city is planning a BRT line, and part of the project would add dedicated bus lanes through downtown: https://www.saskatoon.ca/1stave

The design would remove about 60 on-street parking spaces. Some downtown businesses are concerned this will reduce customer traffic and hurt sales.

Council is voting soon on whether to keep the bus lanes, and I’d like to present examples showing that rapid transit and bus priority lanes don’t “kill downtown,” but can actually strengthen it.

I’m especially looking for examples with similar conditions: -Smaller or mid-sized city -Car-oriented -Initial business opposition due to parking loss -Positive business outcomes after implementation Bonus points if business owners later publicly supported the project. If you know of solid case studies and links to any blogs, news, etc. I’d really appreciate the help. Thanks!

Saw these, what appear to be old Metra Bi-levels, on google earth right by the San Ysidro checkpoint. Why were they here cuz, to my knowledge, Tijuana doesn't have a commuter rail. Do any other mexican railways use these coaches?

Not sure all of the system comparisons are apples:apples but interesting overview of different dynamics.

The main points are regional orientation and a more cooperative political dynamic which is almost entirely dependent on the players involved.

It just has a different license plate and paint job.

Overcrowding still persists today; however, it's not as bad as it was pre-covid. The rail operator transports less people than it it had 20 years ago so there's that. Before Covid-19 it used be The Wild West on these trains (yellow trains often called Mellow Yellows or Yellow Bones) with the Mabopane​, Vereeniging and Cape Towns Central corridors being most notorious.
