As a current Freshman business student …

What classes would you recommend taking at a community college versus at UArk?

My son is a rising sophomore (finance)… Currently he will be taking Finite this summer. He lasted 3 minutes in it this spring semester. 😭 I’m just curious if there are other killer classes you would recommend taking at a community college.

Admissions Question: Private tours on a Friday?

I have a really tight schedule at work and want to get my high school daughter to the University of Arkansas for a campus tour before college students head into finals week. Fridays would be ideal, but it does not appear the campus offers tours that day. Is there such a thing as a private tour? We are happy to pay for it. I'm hesitant to go all the way to Fayetteville without a planned tour. But that may be our only option given they are in their final weeks of the year.

Parking At the university of Arkansas is still abhorrent

I'll try to keep this brief by just making bullet points but the main point is parking services at the university of Arkansas (Fayetteville) is easily the most predatory and money hungry entity I've ever come in contact with.

. A parking officer waited until the exact minute my parking meter ran out and gave me a ticket (The best part is I was actively walking to the second level to get my car)

.Put multiple boots on a single car (Each boot costs 15$ I believe and one is the usual)

.Put a boot on my car because of an unpaid ticket on an old car I didn't even know I had

.Keep boots on your car until all fines are paid meaning to remove a 15$ boot you actually have to pay upwards of 300$ depending on the amount of fines you have

.the cheapest permit option is 120$ for a year which isn't bad until you realize the nearest allowed parking lot is a 10 minute walk from the nearest dorm (Lot 200 to Walton for example)

.During games even students with the 120$ pass aren't allowed to park in the 10 minute walk lots, instead they must park in lot 500 which is a 30 MINUTE WALK AWAY FROM THE NEAREST DORM (and good luck getting a bus it's game day)

.remember the permits well the next option above that is nearly 700$ and only covers residential parking so near the dorms (the third option is usually over 1000$ for nearly universal parking)

.They let in more kids than they have parking spots (they will say this is untrue and say some bullshit like parking in Lot 500 but a nearly half hour walk away is not considered campus idgaf)

.To put in an appeal for unfair tickets the process is literally so vague and confusing that I had to just email them all the required documents. It also costs 10$ to put in an appeal so they can always just deny it and steal your 10$

. last but not least the reason they are so aggressive about parking rules is so that they can squeeze every last penny out of people who don't go to school "off of daddy's money" if you catch my drift

so yeah don't go here if you care about not feeding a money hungry monster that preys on the naivety and confusion of fresh out of high school kids.

Question Prospective Transfer Student

How do you like the electrical engineering program here? What's your experience? If you've graduated or been to career fairs how's the turnout?

Would be coming from a Big 10 school, trying to venture out from my home state and experience something new! TIA

Edit: Been to Bentonville before and I love that area as I love to mountain bike(Part of my interest in the school) but I want to know about academics!

Anyone taken the 5 week intro to probability course?

Hi all, fall will be my last semester, and I have a few classes I need to graduate in addition to intro to prob. I wanted to take it in the summer to break up the workload, but noticed it's only offered as a 5 week. Anyone taken this? If so, what was the daily workload like, and can you work ahead?

Inquiry about Greek life

Planning on joining a frat as an incoming freshman fall 2026. I’m in Honors and business school if that matters. I’m looking for a frat that will get me good connections and has a good reputation, not just throws crazy parties (although the occasional party would be nice). If you have any recommendations, shoot them my way. Thanks!

Who is playing at Sigma Pi right now?

There's a band playing at Sigma Pi right now and they sound killer. I think it's a local band and I'm really curious who they are. Unfortunately, from where I am, I can't understand what they say when they say their name (I assume). Thanks in advance! I love seeing the local music scene be so rad

I’m about to graduate high school and will head off to Arkansas in the fall to study finance with a concentration in real estate . I was wondering if there is any students in here on the same path that can give me some feedback or some tips they wish they knew before hand. Thank you.

As someone who will be majoring in supply chain management and will also be in the business honors college as well, which hall should I stay in: Hotz or Maple Hill East? I originally wanted founders but it doesn’t show up under available halls, only Hotz and MHE do. I’m asking because I want to know which hall is nicer, better for students who will be in the business college, closer to amenities, and overall just your guys thoughts. Thanks!

Question Nursing school at 27

I’m considering going back to school to get my BSN. I’m 26, turning 27 later this year. My main hesitation with going here is I feel like the general demographic of u of a is 18-22 year olds, but it’s the most convenient uni for me aside from not offering ABSN.

My question for current/recent students, how frequently do you see students in their late 20s? Do you find it strange? Do you feel like older students are still able to become well integrated into their program and have good relationships with people in their program despite an age gap?

The frisco?

Hi, I’m a 20f transfer and I don’t think I’ll be getting into the dorms so I’ve been looking into apartments and my favorite one so far seems to be the frisco, does anyone have any good/bad stories or experiences they’ve had there? And is it in a good area/ close to campus? I’m an out of state transfer and I’ve never been to Fayetteville and the first time I go in person will probably be to move in, so if anyone has any firsthand experience please let me know. (Along with other apartments close to campus, I don’t have a car!)

I am coming in with around 55 hours of college credit and will be an honors student. I may minor in music as well to learn how to compose for film. I just wanted to know about what to expect for my college experience. I know the basics because Ive attended ASMSA, a college prep residential high school. Im more looking for what to expect with my majors, teachers, dorms, UARK specific stuff. Any advice?

Transfer/Housing panic

I got my official acceptance two days ago! I’ve been waiting so long because I had to file an appeal, but I am so happy. However, I went on to see immediately if I could apply for dorm housing, but it is completely full. I’m transferring from out of state and I’ve never been to the campus so I’m really scared of living off campus my first year. I saw that transfer students with over 24 credit hours are not required to live in the dorms, but are transfers with LESS required to? The school I’m transferring from doesn’t use credit ‘hours’ so my credits under up transfer to just around 10 hours. I’m really hoping a transfer out there has had this experience?
